Yeah, and all that crazy talk about a Gamecube that would play DVDs.
There was a Gamecube that played DVDs. It's called the Q.
Anyway, I don't think the "tard pack" is that retarded. What was the Xbox Live userbase for the first generation? 5-8 percent of total Xbox owners actually got an Xbox Live account?
Like someone else in this thread said, I think a lot of us tend to forget that we are the "hardcore" when it comes to videogames. We're the ones that think about things like loading times and downloadable maps and crap. I think most people that play games don't ever think about those things.
I know quite a few people with a PS2 and an Xbox (like 10-15 people), but I know TWO people that have Xbox Live. And both of those people are, again, hardcore gamers like me.
Hell, I have Xbox Live, but I couldn't tell you the last time I logged on to play. The online gaming community still needs a lot of mainstreamization before it's fun to the average person. Right now it's a case where if you don't get the new hot game and play it from the onset, you can't jump in later and start playing. The userbase has already weeded out the casuals, and the ones left are the hardcore that don't want to play with "noobs". Think of Splinter Cell.
For me personally, I'd get the premium pack because I have an HDTV, and the cost of a memory card and component cables is pretty much putting me at the premium pack cost anyway. But for the average "I still game on a 26 inch Sony CRT" gamer, I don't think they necessarily need the hard drive.
Anyway... I'm waiting for PS3 and Revolution to release. Then I'll pick up the Premium Xbox 360 for the price that the "tard pack" is now and I'll get the best of both worlds.
