Is there a difference between Rare's DK and DKJB DK?

I know, this wasn't worth a thread, stupid speevy. But I'm wondering this.

More like "It's fucking obvious that they look pretty well identical".

Art-wise I think you're right, but I think it's clear from the Jungle Beat screenshot that Nintendo was trying to recreate some semblance of the angry, darker arcade/NES DK.

Or maybe he's just pissed because some bad guy's about to fall on his head?

Exactly.

Emotions do not make the model itself different, I'm afraid. The difference between angry and happy does not distinguish models.

Well the chin's bigger, and I think his body is shaped a little differently in the art. The hands are definitely larger.

In either case, it really has no relevance to a microwaved exploding egg.

I stand in awe of your vast intelligence. Who was I to wonder about such trivial things? Post more pictures so you can snicker at the absurdity of it all.

The Jungle Beat one looks a bit older, if that makes sense.

But he also looks fuzzier, too. If he were growing older, maybe, perhaps, he should lose some of the fuzz? I have seen balding apes before.

The arcade/NES DK (aka Cranky Kong) is the father of the DK from the DKC games (aka DK Junior).

That point's up for debate. According to the companies and games, ALL of the following are true:

* DK Kong = Cranky, father of DK Jr. DK Jr = Father of DKC Kong (Cranky's grandson)
* DK Kong = Cranky, father of DKC Kong (Cranky's son)
* DK Kong = DKC Kong. Cranky is unexplained.
* DKC Kong is the father of DK Jr. (See Mario Tennis)

The grandson thing seems to have the most momentum at this point, though. I actually wrote up a page for TMK concerning this whole mess. We promptly received an letter disputing my theory, followed up by an ever MORE cheery exchange of Donkey Kong lineage theories.

There appears to be some subculture out there busy worshipping all that is Rare's DK game design.
