Is this VGA adapter compatible with next-gen consoles?

KDS Xblaster

I found one cheap and I'm wondering if I should buy it. I'm planning on picking up a GCN with it's next price drop, but I'd also like an adapter that would be compatible with next-gen consoles as well. I've heard good things about this one already, but it's no longer being made and KDS has replaced it with a much more expensive model.

EDIT: The specs are below.

Three BNC-type color-coded input jacks (Y,Pb,Pr. 1V p-p @ 75 ohms, terminated One RGB output jack 0.7 V p-p @ 75 ohms terminated.

140 MHz @ -3dB

Enclosure Type: Metal

Judging from the specs, it'll do up to 720p 16:9 fine, but only support downscaled 1080i and choke on 1080p completely. So it definitely won't handle the PS3's best mode, and will have difficulty with the X360's, but in a way comparable to most HD monitors currently on the market.

Thanks. I don't really care about the higher resolution stuff all that much. Just as long as it'll show a picture on my monitor(19") that looks better than 480i. =)

You should skip that for X360, since it will have an official VGA cables for sale. It will look much better than taking component and transcoding it into VGA.

Yeah, I bought a similar device last year thinking that I would use it with next-gen consoles too. Didn't occur to me that they would have VGA/DVI/HDMI cables already... Ah well, it works nicely with the progressive scan games of today.

How!!!? =O

eBay. =)

They're rare but there is currently only one for sale for the "Buy it Now" price of $40 with $5 for shipping. The one I snagged started with a $15, but some other jokers had the same idea I had of bidding on it during the last few seconds of the auction, but I still won during the last three seconds.

I'm pretty sure it's gonna go soon! I'm surprised the guys who bid on the one I was after yesterday didn't snag this.

The image quality of the NextVision isn't as good as the XBlaster (the xblaster is pixel perfect so I was sad when mine died). The NextVision does support 480i and does look decent enough, but there are certainly solutions with better IQ.
How did yours die?

Does that thing work with a PS2?

I want to hook up my PS2 to my comp monitor so I can get the 1080i mode working... can I do that with the one you listed Vieo?

Zap-

Yes, it will work with your PS2 but remember only 480P and 1080i games only (and 720P games but there are none on the PS2)

I have a spare KDS XBlaster that I don't use anymore (bought the Dell 2405 Widescreen with Component Inputs...that works like a charm for all my console systems now)

How does $35 shipped sound? I have the XBlaster and AC Adaptor only, but the instructions are online here Have any questions, PM me :)

Thanks!

Not to mention navigating the 480i menus without being able to see a thing is a challenge. I wouldn't reccommend the xblaster for the ps2. Xbox sure, GC why not, ps2 no.
