Is XCOM dead?

BennyBlanco BennyBlanco my recommendations:

Cyberpunk Xcom (just get it, if you are to get one game from this list, make it this one) :

Korean xcom:

Closest to OG xcom:

Curveball, imagine a game we're you manage the xcom overworld and defend earth from the invasion but it's really deep and systems heavy (and it's brilliant) :

Trouble Shooter is awesome. It has a metric ton of content, it's really well done and it's pretty cheap. I highly recommend it!

Xenonauts is on my wishlist and so is Cyber Knights. I will probably pick these up during BF sales.

Terra Invicta is … interesting. Devs just can't get the UX and the balance right, IMO. The game gets bogged down toward the middle part, but it's freaking XCOM Grand Strategy so I can't help but boot it up after every major patch to check out the differences.

I do recommend the game if you are both XCom and Grand Strategy fan.

I resonate with this a lot. I'd love to see a new XCOM that builds on Julian Gollop's original vision. Jake Solomon's reboot nailed the pacing, but I still miss the classic elements, multiple global bases, larger squads, upgraded troop transports, and that epic final push to Mars. A modern take that blends both eras could be incredible.

One of the things I always wanted is have the geopolitical situation matter more. For example, the scientist and engineers you get are also country of origin based just like the troops, and each have specialties that can speed up certain research projects. And, if you lose a country to the Aliens and they pull funding, they also pull any soldiers and scientists they have on your team. So if you have a super solider and or super genius from a certain country it's more important to keep that country from falling to the aliens. , etc.

Check out Terra Invicta above. There are some elements of what you are describing in the game if not quite the same.
