Nothing wrong with it. A moderator has to actually enable you to use avatars of your choosing before your avatar will change to it, assuming you have it in your profile.

Well, it is, but you clearly didn't check the FAQ :/

Avatars can no longer ban animated, it may of been a rule that only passed about a month or so ago but it wasn't something easy to miss. I would read though the FAQs if you haven't, or else you will likely break some rule fast that gets you banned.
