It's kind of a shame that Trump's campaign has to end like this...

No way is this over.
Yeah, this is Trump's lowest point (imo), but let's just wait until this next debate to really be sure.
Even then I wouldn't be satisfied until after the election polls are closed.

I just want to say that we shouldn't get to make this kind of thread yet.

Let's go fucking vote. We can celebrate/stroke our egos in exactly 31 days, when we follow through. Not before then.

We shouldn't celebrate shit until we also go vote in the midterms, no matter who the President is.

It's true that we can't say it's truly over, but Trump is on a hard downturn and him coming back from this in just a month's time is a very unlikely prospect. It's not impossible, but it's going to take a big event really to make the race competetive again.

He's not going to drop out because of this, but this is effectively the end of his campaign. If you can't tell the difference between this and all his other crap, I don't know what to tell you. He's done.

Paul Ryan benching him tomorrow is huge.

Also women are pissed. Ana on CNN literally screamed at a Trump supporter and ANA did not return after the break.

This is not like the others. This is a big deal. And there is apparently more, but even if there is not, this will lose him a lot of women votes.

Short of them finding bodies in Hillary's trunk this is over. It was over before today. Trump's core base has not grown in months. He peaked.

This will definitely not end the campaign. The story itself isn't that much different than a previous story the NYTimes reported:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/15/us/politics/donald-trump-women.html

But the combination of Trump losing almost a billion dollars in a strong economy, poor debate performance, and whatever other controversies he's drug up this week (didn't he tell people to watch a sex tape?) are definitely not helping him. If he somehow has a bigly performance during the debate(s), and there's a leak that seriously damages Clinton, he could theoretically rebound. Thankfully his chances of winning are slim at this point, but his campaign is definitely not over yet.

I just don't see why this would be the thing he said that pushed undecideds away from him. Like, I don't think it even ranks in his top 10 most disgusting.

After everything else, you think THIS is going to end him?

haaaaaaaahahahahahahha

End? This? Nah.

Unless this is somehow much worse than anything else we've seen in the prior year.

I think this is like his fifth non-apology apology. He had one after the abortion position flippity floppities, and another a few weeks ago after one of his rally for his black supporters in white neighborhoods.

Yes, this is much worse than the videos of him talking about wanting to fuck his daughter /s

1000% wrong. Go turn on your TV or visit a news site. This is a huge deal.

I don't disagree. But I also don't think dangling the carrot very far away is the solution to our abysmal voter turnout.

Yeah, that's a pretty good point, especially considering the projected margins of the GE. Pick your battles, and all that. Ugh, this is a depressing time :/

I mean sure, if your optics are framed by right wing conspiracy theories, then Hillary Clinton having pneumonia on 9/11 is worse optics. But the optics of the majority of Americans still aren't framed by right wing conspiracy theories.

Don't be silly. Right wing conspiracy theories are Clinton having Parkinson's because of some internet diagnosis based on zero evidence.

Clinton actually having to be carried to a car on 9/11 is a different beast entirely. (Even if it was just pneumonia. We're talking about optics, not reality).

And the votes of men that actually care about their wives, daughters, moms, grand-daughters, and just women in general one would certainly hope. Trump supporters probably don't, but maybe at least a few of them do.

Maybe I've just become numb to this election cycle by now, but the media doesn't seem any more sensational than they have been in the past.
Next you'll ignore the frenzy on Sunday as if it doesn't mean as much as the one earlier this week and the one last week!

Don't get me wrong, I'm with you all 100%, but I'm not ready to count the chickens before they're hatched.
I guess it's the voter turnout that makes me nervous.

If you genuinely believe that Hillary Clinton being sick one day is going to damage her candidacy more than Donald Trump boasting about sexually assaulting women I don't know what to tell you.

Actual Republicans are withdrawing endorsements.
As they did with the Khan scandal and the Curiel BS he pulled. He absolutely will recover, the difference is he has less time now. Clinton needs to keep finding shit that makes him look bad and he won't recover, at least as much. From their comments on the matter, it seems they're doing a pretty good job so far!

The election isn't over today, it's becoming more and more over as time has passed, as the chances something dramatic could happen to either candidate are lessened. Even without this, Trump would've been making history by winning. No candidate since 1964 (modern electoral history) has ever come back from the margin Trump has today to win, and this election is far more stable than those in the past. The small chance Trump does have to win gets a hit smaller every day, though.

This has also happened in the past and resulted in a large pile of nothing. I need a little bit more than that before I jump on the "Trump is done" wagon.

Again, I'm talking optics. Not for myself, but for the country as a whole. Being sick one day is what happened, but what everyone saw was a candidate for the United States nearly fainting and having to be carried to her car. On the memorial of the deadliest terrorist attack in US history.

As for Trump, he's built up his whole persona as a brash male, and given his entertainer past, it gives him a degree of "cover". Currently, I don't see anything particularly different in the sex-related verbal scandals that Trump has faced in the past. However, it's still early, and things can change.

There is so very much more that is going to be revealed over the next month. Today's revelation will seem quaint when we look back.

The longer the Republicans continue to pursue their current platform, the longer they'll be demographically locked out of the White House.

If they don't learn any lessons from Donald Trump, all the better for the rest of us.

What's with that Supreme Court justices thing republicans are mad about? Have they chosen a new one yet.

I mean Hillary is gonna win so looking past that, what are the chances the new Supreme Court judge will be a democrat, I remember Trump being real butthurt over it. They need to lose more than just the election and lose the supreme court since they where so butthurt about it.

They want a republican one to "overturn abortion" as I recall.

Have you taken a look at the supporters Trump has gained by just spouting horrible bullshit? I doubt it will move his needle a bit. We have been underestimating the massive capacity for ignorance and hate that many Americans feel from the VERY beginning of this race. Every time he "blunders" he is somehow unscathed. If his supporters have not had a problem with the many vile things he's said until now, I doubt they will have a problem with this.

That includes people on the fence. His brand of bullshit is so potent that no one could be "on the fence" about him and not already pretty much be decided.

I predict that this does not affect him very much, if at all.

Demographic trends and a 2020 race against an incumbent means it probably doesn't matter how he loses. Republicans will have to shift left. If Dems can take back the ground they lost to gerrymandering, the shift will be accelerated.

It didn't hurt her when she attacked sexual assault victims did it?

A little too early to start celebrating. Please go out and vote and encourage your friends/family to do the same.

I don't care how he loses, as long as he loses.

Pretty much this.

There's still a month to go, but honestly that's just more rope for Trump to hang himself.

I'm not a fan of making assertions, and its hard not to see this as the moment the Trumptanic hit the iceberg of reality.

That's not true at all. The Kahn scandal, and the Curiel saga both hurt him immensely. It's just he recovered from those. I'm sure the Clinton campaign knows this and has shit to throw in the dumpster fire the is his campaign. They ain't going to let up until the 8th, considtently reminding those who listen why Trump is such a shit candisate, so there's no chance they can convince themselves that Trump isn't "that bad".

You're making the assumption that every single one of his current supporters are the type of enthusiastically racist shitstains that show up at his rallies. That's simply not the case. This will have a massive impact on his poll numbers. Seriously, what self-respecting woman would vote for this piece of shit?

End? This? Nah.

Have you looked at any news site in existence lately?

Its *everywhere*

I'm talking #1 trend on Twitter, Facebook, front page of every website, its bad

His apology was fucked too and its just poured gas on the fire

I'm talking this shit is front page of Al Jazeera and BBC even

Its on a new level

The idea that Donald Trump's polling numbers aren't affected by these scandals and fuck-ups is factually untrue. Also, his base doesn't matter at this point. He needs more than the 40% or so he is stuck on and they aren't coming now. There aren't enough members of r/The Donald to put him in the White House. The race is over; it's just a matter of seeing which rats are canny enough to get off the sinking ship.

This is not like the other screw ups. The audio recording has an emotional impact. And the response suggesting all men talk like that is pure gasoline on the fire.

I'm legit waiting for people to say "well, when he said that he didn't know he'd run for president. He wouldn't have said it if he'd known that. So it's okay. I'm still voting for him." I fully expect this to happen.

Edit - also, won't he just say "I didn't say that." And his supporters will knod their heads? Or just more of the "see I like him because he says what he wants" bs.

That whole story lasted like 3 days and then it was gone. People will be talking about this until election day.
