I see this thread turned Neogaf into Gamespot system wars circa 2014.

We shall see and I hope so. I don't want to see any brand fail.
You realize you just included power as a significant bullet point to win a generation, right?........ RIGHT?????Has power actually been the defining feature of any console that has done very well or "won" a gen?
In the end it always comes down to a mix of power, price, software and marketing more than just specs.
thisWhat then?
Features? What Features?
Games? For many Sony had the better output this gen so it's MS that has to do the "matching".
Feels like I missed some link or announcement about the new Xbox. All I saw was a sleek looking rectangle and the usual PR stuff "the strongest ever, will take games to the next level, etc". I didn't see any big and detailed reveal that the Ps5 now has to "match"
My line of thinking is it's clear this Microsoft/Xbox we are seeing now is unlike anything we've seen in the past and if you think this is the same then really haven't noticed the power moves they have been making. It has been said many times in the past Phil Spencer now has access to the financial side of Microsoft that has not been afforded to anyone at Xbox before. Needless to say, this generation will be totally different from every other generation before it and I hope the PlayStation brand can compete with the marketing and financial might that has been clearly shown thus far. Hope that clears it up a little and what has been going on in my mindI'm just not sure what is fueling your line of thinking.
Playstation is one of the biggest and most successful brands in the console gaming market. They've been around for 20 years with mostly successful consoles and are ending this gen as the clear "winner" with a massive sales advantage over their direct competitor..... OF COURSE people and the media will have a lot to say about their next system, that's pretty much a fact just like how we know tech media will have a lot to say about the next Iphone or movie sites will have a lot to say about the next avengers.
WHAT people will have to say will depend on Sony, but even if the reveal sucks and the Ps5 looks terrible you'll have plenty of coverage of how bad it is
The OP had no substance due of the lack of info from the new consoles except the general arch/features (same) and design (Xbox).I see this thread turned Neogaf into Gamespot system wars circa 2014.

Cool Story Bro.
I'm pretty sure it'll at least match it. At least in raw specs. Now that secret sauce buzzword they keep tossin around is left to be seen. The only thing I'm aware of is the Patented VRS on Xbox that may give it an edge. How this will be implemented...that's up to the developers I would expect.
EDIT:
A link for reference.
I suppose you'd rather I make up fake specs or use rumour and speculation to fuel this thread? No thank you. Power has never won a system gen....
None of that changes jack shit to what I said mate. Power is still important. So having the most powerful box is substantial in a generation success.Yes?
Because, as I said, it comes down to how it all comes together. Having the most powerful console isn't going to "win" you a gen if you are also $200 more expensive than your competitor, because price is also important. And being the cheapest console isn't going to instantly win you the gen if your software lineup sucks or your competitor offers notoriously better performance for an acceptable price difference, because power and software are also important.
The Ps4 had a great start to the gen not simply because it was a bit more powerful. But because it was more powerful while also being cheaper, and it had a much better marketing campaign and hype buildup while MS released a more expensive, less powerful machine that spent much of it's "hype building" phase doing damage control for the terrible reveal event.
Had the Xbox One had a better reveal and actually released for a price that better matched the spec on offer (like, say, $50 less than the PS4) this gen might have turn out differently
Come on man substance. How old are you? What the fuck is this?![]()
I did not criticize you lolI suppose you'd rather I make up fake specs or use rumour and speculation to fuel this thread? No thank you. I live in the real world , I try to base everything I post on reality, with emotions removed. I'm not 12 years old.
Then you're blind or being willfully obtuse. I guarantee Sony wont run the gamut they way they did this generation. This guy gets it. X touts power, because generally it's all it has going for it. Power has never won a system gen....GAMES do. I see nothing in the pipeline that says this next gen X will offer any 1st party games that will sniff what Sony has been churning out for gens.
Apologies then.I did not criticize you lol
I say this because In no way shape or form do I want to see a one-sided console race (Not considering Switch in this argument). Without competition for either side the boundaries will never get pushed and complacency will become the norm. I am all for Xbox Series X, but if Playstation 5 cannot compete it will not be good for the industry as a whole. Just my 2 cents.
None of that changes jack shit to what I said mate. Power is still important. So having the most powerful box is substantial in a generation success.
Thats because the PS5 leaks were Cerny leaking the Scarlett deets.MS's Scarllet reveal was exactly a copy paste of what Sony's said in PS5 reveal lol
Then you're blind or being willfully obtuse. I guarantee Sony wont run the gamut they way they did this generation.
This thread is silly, which resulted in my confusion. Git gud.Come on man substance. How old are you?
This is a very Ameri-centric view. For example lets go with what we know, "mindshare" . Can the Playstation generate as much hype for their reveal as MS did with Xbox Series X? Will blogs, podcasts and news feeds talk about the reveal for what is going on 5 days now non stop? I certainly hope so.
Then begone. I'm sure there are other more non-silly threads you can peruse. This thread is silly, which resulted in my confusion. Git gud.
I did state that power isnt necessary to be successful. But power played a huge role in the most successful consoles in each generation. I guess what I'm saying is, " you said - power - in leagues with price, content, marketing etc are what defines a successful generation."Except for.... pretty much every console gen ever?
Then begone. I'm sure there are other more non-silly threads you can peruse.

I cannot argue that at all...You be you. I'd like to have the console that has games that appeal to me.
Okay, so youre saying your blind????Why do you think that? Do you believe Halo Infinite, the next Gears, and the next Forza is going to do anything to change what happened this gen in the next?
Okay, so youre saying your blind????
Gotcha.
How high ARE YOU right now?Sony could release a 7TF console and they would still put out the best content & out sell Xbox
Yes but in this world of the internet, twitter, IG, facebook. You are only as good as your last post.
You do that big chief! While you're at it, can you stop accusing us of taking Sony for granted. I personally dont even rock with their games. Their pretty much all the same.People is taking for granted that the ps5 will be more powerful, I'll grab the popcorns
I beg to differ, Media panders to what the consumers gravitate to, to get clicks and views. that's it.That’s just how things have always been.
Media panders to Xbox.
Consumers pander to PlayStation.
How high ARE YOU right now?
I bet Sony's reading your post and thanking Zeus you're just a fan. Holy shit....
Sony had help from the beginning of this generation. Microsoft fumbled hard from the onset and continued to do so. Sony was there to pick up the pieces and run with it. As you can see, that didnt happen this time. The TGA announcement was clear, concise and to the point. To knock it out of the park, they introduced a very impressive in-engine trailer from one of their own award winning studios to show the visual targets for next gen visual fidelity.it's the other way around actually, the Xbox One X does not erase the fact that Sony released the more capable console to kick start this current generation so it's on Microsoft to keep up this time around.

/threadAnd what if the Series X is priced at $599 for those 12TFs of supposed power and the PS5 is 10 TFs at $399?
None of these posts make any sense until we know prices.
IMO, X is not relevant to a conversation regarding the effect of power on potential sales of a brand new generation. I would argue that PS4's power advantage helped it sell consoles without question. How significant of an impact is debatable though, especially when the weaker system cost $100 more.Power has never sold a console it just help with marketing
do you see Xbox One X flying off the shelves?
