Yo Nakamura is the best

JR put it best he's a badass Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson hybrid

Really loved Jim Ross calling that ppv. He gets people over in a way that no other commentator in wrestling does today. I have a feeling if he was still calling Raw alot more of these guys would get over with the crowds at home.

Yeah seriously

I already liked Nakamura, but JR made me love him

JR is a wizard

But that would be bad. The WWE doesn't want that.
If their talent got over then they'd sell more merch, make more demands, book more comedy shows without asking permission first and would not be subservient to them and only them.

I'm fully down with Ibushi/Nak being 5 stars. But then he has the 4 way tag at 4 stars, so that makes me question every rating on the rest of the show. If that was 4 stars, Ibushi/Nak should have been 19 stars.

That 4-way tag was by no means a 4-star match.
It was significantly worse than the 3-team match between the Hooligans, Bucks and Splitters match I caught in person at Global Wars last year.

Well he did come back amazingly quick after supposedly suffering a crushed trachea so he's clearly got some sort of accelarated healing factor.

Plus
his sudden alliance with Reigns came out of nowhere. Is that it for Wyatt now then?

Well continuity doesn't seem to matter to the WWE writing staff so... yes? :p
EDIT:

GET OUT

Dean will be the first victim of
Roman pulling another page out of Cena's handbook and leeching all his remaining heat before dumping him off a husk at the jobber line.

yea, I like spotfests sometimes but that was literally just "get your shit in: the match" for 10 minutes

and yooo I watched Dr. No and read your review right after and your thoughts kinda mirror mine - really cool, grounded first half followed up with a second half that just lost me

It's really weird seeing how often the Bond theme was a sound cue for shit like...checking his messages and walking. I don't think there is a movie where he's more charming than in his introduction scene and especially his first scene with Moneypenny. That scene is just a HOLY SHIT WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO FUCK THIS GUY kind of scene.

I don't understand the love that Meltz gets around here. I really don't.
I'm not sure Meltz gets love so much as he's respected for his connections and for his time covering the business.
There's a big difference between love and respect.
Dude also politics his ass off so he's always got wiggle room to save face.

And people complain about Bray going over Dean.
Most of Bray's losses were against Cena.
All of Dean's losses have been in high profile matches against Bray since becoming a singles star.
No need to twist the numbers around to suit an argument.

The only reason Bray's getting "built up now" - if you want to call it that; he still comes off as a complete joke who lost his cult to me - is that they want a credible opponent to make Old Man Taker look good if he chooses to leave the nursing home on a day pass for WrestleMania. That's all.

John Cena's ratio is lower than Adrian Neville's
and Big Show's
. New Generation!

Yeah, he was charming and cool as fuck, especially if he's got a gun on a guy in any situation (the one where he hid behind the door as the guy shot at the bed was baller). It's funny, it's not really reliant score-heavy but then Bond just walks into a building and suddenly, his theme music! Glad some of the others are on the 'Flix, they always seem to disappear and reappear every few months.

What's the difference? Both are main event/second to main event losses.

A lot of the movies up to the mid 70s will have long stretches with no music at all. Almost to the point of awkwardness. But in Dr. No, it's pretty much only the 007 theme and it gets used for the most mundane of shit. I think it shows up 5 or 6 times in the movie, none of which are action scenes. Goldfinger is when the formula is...formulated. It's why it is the quintessential Bond movie for me.

Lucha Underground is back, yay!

I cannot express how much love I have for Dario Cueto, what a great character.

The difference boils down to momentum & perception.
You can't glean anything from a bunch of random numbers and win-loss records.
Especially when faces always go over on house shows almost without fail.
So, of course the numbers are skewed in Dean's favor when you factor that in.
That's also why Torito and the Great Khali had the best win/loss records. Because of their house show novelty appeal.

But house show performance means jack shit when compared to how the public perceives a star. Television performance does.

And Ambrose's feud with Rollins was a non-starter and he lost every match against Wyatt except the glorified televised "house show" known as Tribute to the Troops.
In other words, Ambrose is perceived to be a loser.

And that's why people bitch about him losing all of his matches to Bray.

Dean will be taking the majority of the TV falls when the inevitable Shield triple threat matches happen for the title over next summer as well.

My favourite part is when he killed the spider. The music is absolutely hilarious, with a huge crescendo every time he hits it.

Also, liked your list! Your choice for worst Bond movie is definitely the correct choice. It's almost hilarious, the outrageous racism.

The spider part was hilarious and so out of place in that movie. But that's probably why it is so funny.

I've listened to about half of the LALD episode of James Bonding and I'm really disappointed that they enjoy the movie so much. It's so uncomfortably racist. Fuck that movie so much. I can't believe the song is associated with that mess.

Meltzer giving the 4-way match **** sums up why I don't do star ratings - even if he really did enjoy the match that much, the fact that it's on the same level as, say, Takada vs Hashimoto, throws the whole thing for a loop. I'd much rather just say "I really enjoyed this" and then expound as to why, rather than scoring everything with an arbitrary rating.

I don't understand the love that Meltz gets around here. I really don't.

It's pretty simple; some people respect his opinion, even if it doesn't always match up with theirs. Also, his analysis and historical perspective can often be insightful. The Rikidozan piece in last week's observer was worth the month's subscription alone.
