Cena started being turned on because he was a dull super face. But he started getting neutered even before WM 21 and that hurt him. By 2006/2007 he was a total cornball and had gone from originally a "cool face" to the personification of uncool.

Again, had Ambrose won the Rumble, he would have been cheered. Same with Ziggler or a couple of others.

They would've been cheered because they haven't been picked by the WWE, and Reigns is the guy in the way of Bryan right now. That's pretty much what it comes down to. It's the same as last year when Batista was the one in the way. Cena wasn't neutered before Wrestlemania 21 to any significant extent. His gimmick was pretty much the same until 2006, when he begins to face off against Triple H. The fans turned on him as soon as Summerslam in 2005, and that was against Jericho who was mostly a jobber at the time.

People just need to deal with it.
