Mario Party 6 has only just begun. :O

I've defened Mario Party 6 before and all, but I'm still astounded that the game is leaving Jungle Beat in its wake. Is there something wrong with JB that I haven't heard about or is it one of those cases were the game just goes over the heads of most gamers?

I wouldn't be surprised if there's no advertising and no demo stations.

I've heard it's short, but other than that it's meant to kick ass!

Maybe DK will be one of those long-term sellers...

Definitely the latter, and it's a damn shame. JB is one of the best games Nintendo has put out this generation. I still can't believe how badly it's doing.

It's possible JB hasn't appeared on these charts because both the tarukonga and standalone bundles have reason to be popular. Combined they can be hanging around #11-15.

When are the actual numbers for last week going to come out?

You know the drill, Wednesday for Enterbrain, Thursday for Media Create.

Although both companies might not release numbers this week due to the holidays, but that might be next week.

But SONY did not ship many PSPs at all it was a soft launch /SONY FAN

It's a fact that there were limited quantities of the system shipped. You can keep telling yourself otherwise, but it won't change what the facts are.

facts can also be an excuse for damage control :)

Here is a FACT for you, if this was Nintendo who shipped so little every Nintendo hater on GAF
would be all over it. Just relax and take your own medicine. :D

So why didnt sony get more PSP's ready for launch?

Maybe they just didnt want to be shown up by DS :P

Facts are to Sony fans the PSP/DS war will never be "legitimate" because Sony had a soft launch, that is until the PSP shipments and sales surpasses the DS numbers then its on with the Nintendo is doomed.

Because they're losing a good $100-200 per unit right now with limited production. They'll need to get fabs up to speed before flooding the market.

Seriously what exactly are you complaining about?

Can we love and hate parts? I love IntSys and Zelda for example, but hate NST and Animcal Crossing...

Hey wow, me too. Intelligent Systems pretty much nullifies everything, though :)

Totally true. IF the PSP succeeds - it will be "Tendo is teh d00med!!!!1!! We told you PSP was sexay!"

And if DS keeps stomping it with sheer numbers - "PSP had a soft launch! There's 100 reasons why this isn't teh fair!!!"

I LOVE it!

I LOVE it!

But all is FAIR in gaming wars! :)
Next year will be fun... I don't really care who wins (I'm buying a PSP)
But I will be here to point things out to Sony fans :D

That the PSP should still outsell the DS despite only having around 200k units out right now?

Even if PSP sells the same amount of units as DS, Mario and Wario games(hell, pikachu dash) will still manage to be top. Hell, even if more PSP hardware is available than DS, that could still be true.

Let's see how 3rd parties are doing down the road.

There is hope for Jungle Beat, although little; Yoshi GBA launched to craptacular numbers but has been performing well on recent daily charts. Maybe it may do the same.

that could be because JB has 2 versions (one with drum and one without)

I'd expect the one without drum to sell relatively well.

I find it interesting that although there were limited numbers of the console shipped, the sold through numbers show that not all consoles were sold, and on top of all that, the DS outsold the PSP during the PSP's launch week.

Yes, I find it interesting :)

Go Wario! Looks like it will end up outselling SM64 DS when all is said and done. It'll be the top selling NDS game until Jump Superstars or Pokemon come out I think.

Nintendo's study and focus on the Japanese market is good for them and we can see the results by the time

now come to the west and give me C&C DS damn it!

Wait a day or two and the top 3 will read:

Mario Party 6
Sawaru
Mario 64

Very impressive performance this holiday system from Nintendo, just a HUGE shame about Jungle Beat.

Having said that, a point can be proven here about the legs Nintendo games have:

Mario party 6 - 30k first day, 600+ total
Yoshi: Universal Gravitation 8k first day, will do 200k + easily
DK: Jungle Beat 6k first day, again 150k+ is easily attainable.

Compare to most other games that sell 1/3 - 1/2 their totals in their first day.

Is it any different than...

IF the DS succeeds - it will be "PSP is teh d00med!!!!1!! Nintendo still handheld king!!"

And if PSP keeps stomps on it - "DS is not competing with the PSP! There's 100 reasons why this isn't teh fair!!!"

My point is that the system has sold out, what more do you want? It can do alot, but it can't duplicate units.
