Most Americans can get by in Japan with very little Japanese. It`s not hard when everything is clearly marked in English (including Trains and Buses). I haven`t had the need to speak Japanese outside of the family yet (with one or two exceptions for quick questions). I should be practicing more but it`s toooooooo damn hot here in Nagoya. I hope Tokyo is a little cooler otherwise next time I`m coming, it`ll be in winter.

Anyhoo, spent the whole day browsing Akihabara and I`m still not done. Probably gonna hit it on Sunday (if anything is open) because my feet hurt like hell today. I might hit Shinjuku tommorrow though.

As for tonight - me and Cormacaroni spotted a couple of nomihodai places that were alarmingly cheap. I've been to one that was 1000 yen for 2 hours (!!!), so ... erm.... might be close run between that and The Hub for happy hour enjoyment.

It depends how insanely expensive "insanely expensive" is - as long as they aren't 50k yen a pop or -REALLY- doggy subject matter (Dhalsim vs Blanka for instance!) then should be okay.

You're okay. Japan either uses the same power standards as US, or the difference is so small it won't damage your stuff. Europe otoh..
