Or maybe not...

A-ha, yes. It seems that GT4 actually launched today (the 28th) so these numbers were early sales from the day before.

Apparently is sold around 300k on it's first day, so expect something in the region of 600k for the week... so not actually a flop at all :D

GT4 was released on 28th (today) officially, these must be by retailers breaking street date?
That's the most probable explanation.

MGS3 is good, but it's not "beat GT4 at launch" good.

Indeed, MGS3 will have done about 25k max, so these are early copies as I've corrected above. GT4 actually did 300k+ in it's first day, which is more as expected...

MGS3 >>> GT4, sales not withstanding.

Anyway, this thread is good news...for MGS3. :)

It wouldn't be strange since the Japanese already had 5 half versions of GT4 before the real thing. Things like that doesn't make people buy the (most complete) version again...

MGS3 >>>> GT4

Damn you and your SCEA reasoning!!!!!!!

quite impressed with the MGS3 sales - I already noticed that sale oddity in the other thread and now you guys are catching on. Its more of the OMFG MGS3 in so successful thing than GT4 bomb. You Americans be ashamed. :)

GO METAL GEAR!!!

I could give a damn about GT4
why, well they took out online. Besides that the no car damage is so, unimmersive in a sim.

I like MGS2, most didn't care for Raiden. Halo 2, Half-Life 2, Metroid Prime 2 and GTA:SA. Not everybody has the disposable income for all of these. I do, so I have them all. I did my part

:D

Gundam vs Z Gundam. Wow that's scraping the barrel.

Wow that's an ignorant comment without knowing about the product. :lol

Gundam vs Z Gundam is just the name they gave the DX version of AEUG vs Titans, and it's a great game. Nothing bottom of the barrel about it at all. It's really no different from something like MGS2 Substance, which everyone agrees is a great thing. :P

Shit, I bet a lot of companies wish their games would 'bomb' if it means outselling a Super Mario, Dragon Quest and a DQ FF crossover game.

erm... I thought I'd cleared up the "bomb" issue.

If GT4 had indeed only managed to hit #2 on it's release day, it would have sold a mere 20k on it's first day, which would have been horrendous considering it's expected to do 600k in it's first week - i.e. a bomb.

As it happens, this chart was for the day before release so the GT4 sales are from stores that broke the release date. In fact, GT4 did around 300k on it's first day, which is about exactly as expected, so not a bomb after all.

MGS3 is doing pretty well, although the charts are up and down on a daily basis at the moment, so it could easily slip to 6th again tomorrow or something. All the big games are doing around 20k or so a day at the moment (being holiday season and all that) which equates to around 100-150k a week for the next week and a half, so expect some good numbers all round.

I'm suprised to see Mario Party 6 dropping off so much the last couple of days though...

Those are the weekly sales. Multiply the numbers by ten to get the week totals.

I.e. METAL GEAR SOLID 3 SNAKE EATER: 40,683 x 10 = 406,830
