Looking foward to the solo album he's been talking about.

Hey guys. Anybody here a fan of Coaltar of the Deepers? I love them but sadly they seem to have dropped off the face of the earth. If you've not heard of them, they mix metal/rock/shoegaze/electronica...hard to pigeonhole.

Freaking love them. I just wish they actually released something these days. Really disappointing to see them quite like this.
That EP is never gonna come out. once you branch out, its harder to do your own project.
Salyu has a new album out in April.

Great news! Can't wait for it.

Namie's tour DVD blew me away, those selections that were sent to air didn't do justice to the full thing at all. I have a lot of respect for her just straight up singing and dancing without any of that pre-recorded track nonsense.

I've always admired her ability to dance and sing as much as she does in her tours.
My copy FINALLY arrived today, at least it wasn't like last year when it took a month for my pre-order copy to arrive. Haven't sat down and watched it yet, but I really can't wait to enjoy it :)

Also glad to hear about Salyu's new album!

Great, Scenarioart will release their first full album, Happy Umbrella on June 3rd!

[Alexandros]'s latest artist picture basically confirms that I want the vocalist's babies. Second from the right. Hnnnnnnngh,

Really looking forward to their upcoming single. I kinda wish they stopped releasing so many Double A-Sides because when an album comes out, well, half of the songs were on the singles.
Oh well.

i was just listening to alexandros and i decided to go to this thread and behold

as much as I kinda wish NEXT少女事件 were more well-known, performing in bigger venues would kind of miss the point of the group, really

I guess after like two years and a complete member wipe they're finally releasing a single in May. I wonder how hard that will be to get ahold of.

more punk/metal idols, please world

e: I guess there's Guso Drop

PV

e2: and Passcode. I'll have to look into them more, this video is kinda cute

Is anyone else here a big fan of J-Core?

I'm not sure where to talk about J-Core on NeoGAF.. ^^;;

kors k's album Let's Do It Now!! is that new anymore.. but I thought I would talk about it anyway.
I just love this album so much. The new remixes of Smooooch and Wuv U are such an amazing fanservice. I love Smooooch and Wuv U so much. I wasn't expecting a new kors k album with new remixes of some of my favourite songs when it came out. So it was so great. They're so euphoric and amazing, they make improvements over the original songs for me.

And songs like Shibuya Jungle and Gimme a Big Beat have so much energy and power! And the whole album is just so great and wonderful. All of the songs are amazing!
It's one of my favorite albums of all time.

Would LIA be considered as J-Core? I know she performs under two names Lia and then LIA. I haven't really dived much but I have heard of KorsK and really enjoyed what I have listened to.
I have LIA's Spectrum Rays and also her first three Enigmatic albums.

Edit: Are the Eurobeat compilations considered J-Core? I freaking love those albums.

I tried searching by the lyrics I could make out but nothing :(

hopefully someone else might have better luck.

those are some excellent casio keyboards

Japanese hardcore techno music. It's really popular in Beatmania games. And there's a lot of J-Core about Touhou and anime.

It tends to be very happy and euphoric. And often has themes about cute happy moe anime things.

Oh, yeah not into them.

Wait, Does ROTTENGRAFFTY count?

I'm afraid for Kinoko Teikoku's major debut. Don't stop Shoegazing :(

as much as I want for that to happen, I'm not holding out for a stylistic return. I put on their latest one recently and it's pretty clear what direction they wanna go in. You might say that they were essentially shopping for a major by doing that. Would be nice to keep the reverb soaring, but whatever.

Considering that their latest album wasn't really shoegaze-oriented... Can't really force them to go back to that if they don't want to.
Anyway I'd be more than happy if they keep on doing stuff like this album, I thought it was much better than their previous stuff (even if I like the majority of their earlier works). クロノスタシス is such a gem. More songs like this please!

Anyway, SAKANAMON announced their third full album, it will be released on April 15th! Hype!

Purchases of the day :
BIGMAMA's new album, The Vanishing Bride.

What can I say... I'm never disappointed by this band. While their two previous albums kinda had the same feel to them I think this one tries some new things. Why You Refrigerate Me? has synth-pop thing going on, completely different from what they usually do. Masato's voice is cute as always, the violin never fails to set a unique atmosphere... Amazing album!

FOLKS - SNOWTOWN
They wanted to capture the mood of their snowy hometown Eniwa, and it works. I want to listen to this album at home, next to the fireplace, while watching the snow peacefully falling outside. I'd say that even if their style is still kinda similar to Galileo Galilei, they manage to have their own identity. So yeah, another awesome mini-album. I wonder when they will release a full album.

Searched the lyrics, but couldn't find it. I'm confused, though. It's your video, but you don't know what the song is?

But you don't really like Shoegaze, do you?
Maaan, their concerts were amazing, though. The way they messed with the lights and feedback on their amps. I can't imagine they'll play such cool shows anymore.

I wonder if I'll ever go see them live again, then. The atmosphere at their concerts was incredible.

I don't hate it, I don't love it. I like THE NOVEMBERS a lot for what it's worth.
But yeah I usually like more dynamic and upbeat songs.

from the comments, it looks like it was from a playlist that no longer exists.

somewhat relieved that it's legitimately hard to find and not just a fault of my poor japanese skills

To be fair, they always had a kind of a mix of Shoegaze and Indie Rock (at least, that's how I see it), and the last album inclined more on the Indie side, but still had some great Shoegaze moments. I can see they going back and forth between the styles. That being said, I don't see they going back to 渦になる's style again, being major and all :(

Haha well it was a mix I got from soundcloud ages ago but it's been deleted since. I have the original music file at home but still never found the name of that first song. Just the second.

Or, we're both bad at google.

I'm google god emperor and can't find it.

Yeah ;_; The second, superior song is still safe with me, at least ( 岡本舞子 ファッシネイション )

you're right. I think people just like to use the shoegaze tag exclusively because they want to differentiate the band from others. Some people have even gone on to label them as post-rock :lol. I guess you never know how they'll end up sounding. Musicians are funny.

No problem!

are you fucking kidding me

Haha, didn't take too long to find, I searched up "Japanese trendy pops" and found the user who uploaded the playlist that got deleted and skimmed through some of their other playlists to see if I could hear her, found a song by her and the rest was easy. If you'd have asked me what the second song was I could've told you straight away.

Pretty awesome, if you like stuff like Rin toshite Shigure.
そこに鳴る / pirorhythm stabilizer 〜only your world〜

Damn, this is pretty good. Thanks for sharing.
EDIT: They haven't released anything yet ;-; Also the vocalist's voice seems familiar.
EDIT2: Bentham, from the same channel sounds nice too.

I impatiently await any single/album in the future. Bentham is indeed good, too. I'm subscribed to like 50 Japanese music video channels on youtube. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
