A few of Namie's album tracks leaked and I'm having the biggest dilemma right now...do I listen once and wait? do I just wait? do I just listen and pretend they were singles? IDK WHAT TO DO

omg what? I've been listening to the album preview so much for the past few days and the album still seems so far off. This is just what I need to make the wait bearable.

Fishlife announced today the nationwide release of their new mini-album which will be out on August 12! Been waiting for this for a loooong time,
I'll finally be able to get their music.
Already talked about them in this thread, young rock trio (They're like 20-21) with a lot of talent. They won the 2013 edition of Senkou Riot, a festival held by Sony, Tokyo FM... to discover new talents. Amazing band.

Listening to KEYTALK's new album, and I'm loving it so far.
Superfly release's theyre new album next week, I just finished placing a preorder for the 2CD version.

NAMIE!!! June needs to arrive faster. I love the Stranger PV, the song is so addicting.
Her outfit is so pretty in the PV too

edit: I see that Anything and Birthday also leaked from Namie's album. I must be strong. I will resist the urge.

Gave up and grabbed KEYTALK's on Japanese iTunes because I can't wait for my CD (First press edition with the bonus DVD!)

What a fantastic album these guys released, holy cow. So much variety. This is one of the band's greatest strengths.
They said that this was a "J-Pop" album and it's quite accurate. Some songs sound like old-school J-Pop tunes, reminding me of Yuzu, Porno Grafitti... Not a surprise since the members are fans of these bands. It's still rock though!
KEYTALK just knows how to combine a lot of different elements to make something unique.
So far my favorite new songs are グローブ, YURAMEKI SUMMER (Yoshikatsu's "rap" is amazing :lol) and センチメンタル.
I'm sure this album will give them a popularity boost. They totally deserve it.

Needless to say that this new album will be in this year's top 3.

I am going to order the DVD version down the road, listening to my itunes purchase at the moment.

edit: aha the DVD version is indeed LE, I guess I'll be buying it sooner then later haha

Mariko's resurfaced. Lazy translation says that she just recently got out of the hospital, she sold a bunch of her musical equipment to pay for medical bills, she's not going to sing anymore, and she wants to work somewhere out of the spotlight...

and weirdly this is actually pretty cheerful on a Goto Mariko scale.

anyway, it's good that it sounds like she actually sought out help and is maybe doing a little better.

it linked me to this, which I hadn't seen before, so good

they always seem so serious, and then every once in a while they put out a video where they look like they're having the times of their lives and it's the best thing

also, the lady drummer with the bob, Miyoko Yamaguchi, she gets around. I can't think of many other japanese drummers-for-hire that I've seen show up more frequently. she's really good.

it looks like they're just basing it on the same tweets I was reading, and I know my japanese is terrible, but I've seen other people interpret it the same way.

but honestly nothing would surprise me as far as she's concerned. as long as she's healthy, I'm happy with her doing or not doing whatever she wants.

yeah. I mean, I'm kind of willing to accept that they're probably right; on top of my bad Japanese, her writing is unusually difficult to interpret. (but still easier than Oomori)

man, at least you can google them. you can make fun of goofy names but when you're trying to look up things like 2&, piiiiiin, or anybody else who uses a common 3-4 letter word that's un-searchable is where it gets a bit unforgivable

kpop fans arguably have it worse

Are there any magazines, newspapers in Japan doing critical music reviews with ratings, you know, 5 stars to this, 1 star to this... any big ones with influence?

Not really. Big magazines like Rockin'on Japan, Musica, Talking Rock... are mostly filled with interviews. They have a few pages dedicated to reviews but they're really short.
Let's just say there's no Japanese Pitchfork. I don't think people care about music reviews in Japan that much (neither do I tbh).

Well they're two different bands, can't except the same sound! I love both to death.
Maybe you'll like Monoeyes, the vocalist's new band.
First single next month.

... I'm flying back from Tokyo on the 2nd of October this year, meaning I'll miss Psycho Le Cemu reuniting for a gig that evening... Flying into Paris where I'll be staying for about 19 hours on a layover before returning home on the 3rd of October, meaning I'll miss Capsule and m-flo... I shouldn't make travel plans this far ahead in advance.

Good news, the telephones will release one last album before going on hiatus.
Bye Bye Hello will be out on July 22!

The band's last live will be a very special event on November 3. Their hometown Saitama's Super Arena will become a festival where bands they're friends with will perform, the telephones being the last band to play that day. No doubt this is going to be amazing.
