So happy to see that TODAY, SCARLET STARLET and DONKEY BOOGIE DODO made the cut.

Sad to hear that go!go!vanillas's guitarist is leaving the band. Seems like he isn't interested in music anymore. Oh well, he's still young so he'll be alright! Wonder who the new guitarist will be.

While not something I'd listen to often, I like it slightly more than Babymetal. Also, seeing an Australian man dressed up like that is hilarious.

I'm generally not a fan of mainstream J-Pop music, as it tends to be horribly cheesy and polished to a glossy, sterile sheen, but I'll make an exception for Kimura Kaela as she has been consistently fantastic over her whole discography (if you ignore that cover album anyway, which I most certainly did). Love her. Seriously.

Her best song will always be Circle though. Impossible to top that one.

If I understood correctly, what Uipon just read was either the letter Megumon sent to apply to be in the group, or a letter she wrote recently talking about why she wanted to join the group. it was kinda cute.

context is still the hardest part for me :(

I like that everybody got mixed drinks except Uipon who got a giant beer like a real osakan.

they're saying nice things about Megumon so I'm not sure why she's not there. they're talking about that documentary now.

Haven't tried but it looks like you have access to the entire Japanese iTunes store if you have a Japanese account.
Can't believe they keep the region locking with Apple Music, it would have been a huge advantage...
Even worse, there's some stuff on my store that you can't even find on Apple Music! This is a joke.

Yeah. With my Aussie account I've been following apples jpop curator account which has been spitting out jpop playlists almost every day, many of which are filled with tracks that are inaccessible due to licensing. Annoying.

But yeah...I'd so love a service that would allow me to not import so much.

Not that I really hold it against Apple given Sony could not even get its own jpop music on their own service.

yeah. the whole thing was stupid anyway, since apparently it was mostly about him being disappointed in the direction their music was going. he wasn't wrong, they haven't really had any S-tier songs in like two years.

and I mean, aside from Moretsu, it's not like he's even necessarily responsible for their best tracks, but most of the stuff he wrote is better than most of the stuff since 5th Dimension.

MAX and SPEED are the true OG's.

If you're only interested in idols, Hello Project (Morning Musume et al) preceded *48.

The E-Girls groups fall somewhere between these two sets.
