Anyway, the new Rin Toshite Shigure album is DOPE!

Yap, love MONSTER, キミトオク and Beautiful Circus. I think i liked their last one, still a Sigure Virgin?, better though.

I've been listening obsessively to Shinsei Kamattechan these days. In my opinion they might be the most exciting band currently active in Japan. Their sound is pretty unique, wikipedia labels them as noise pop, avant-garde and indie pop. There are definitely some heavy punk elements too. Most striking is probably the often heavily pitchshifted vocals. It's certainly not for everyone, but i fucking love these guys. I love their beautiful ugliness.

Have some videos.

I bought some Shinsei Kamattechan albums earlier this year on Amazon MP3. It's really weird yeah, some of their songs are really horrible but some are also pretty dope. Heh...
I'm not sure if I like them or not :lol
I think I posted about it some pages ago.

Yeah, and it's currently the fourth most popular show on Fnac.com, one of the main retailers. Yaaaay!

Still can't believe I'll see Asian Kung-Fu Generation and Perfume soon :lol
Never expected it.

I've never been to a standing room only concert before... do people line up to get in, as in does how early you get there influence how close you'll end up to the stage? Or does everyone just rush in as soon as the doors are open? Any tips?

Yeah you line up. So if you want a good spot you should get there early. I often line up like 40min-1hour before it opens.

Thanks for the info. I was planning to get there about an hour early too. I need to be as toward the front as possible as I'm really short!

Make it 2 hours minimum.

Will be heading to the London show. O2 Islington again - saw Kyary there last month. Can't wait!

I liked the M-Flo album, in particular, I loved NO WAY, Transformerz, CHANCE and Journey X. Only track I actually dislike is 'Lover' because it doesn't fit with the style of the album at all.

I love Perfume, but if Ayu came to Europe I'd literally make heads roll if I had to so I could be there!! :'( But, alas...

I'm more excited about Asian Kung-Fu Generation to be honest :lol

I'd kill to see ONE OK ROCK, the Hiatus, Nothing's Carved In Stone or Straightener in Europe.

My friend has tickets to the Kyary Pamyu Pamyu concert in LA tonight!

Soooo jealous. :(
Hope he has fun!

I'm sitting here looking at buying two tickets, but I have nobody to go with. I really should have tried to find someone to go with instead of waiting for the last minute.

If you have the opportunity you should go! I would love so very much to be able to see her. I've been lucky in seeing a lot of Japanese artists for my limited travels though.

Just came back from the Kyary concert. Went with some friends and we were in line since 3:30pm. Doors opened past 6:30 and even then everyone was waiting inside the club and not at the actual concert venue.

Concert was delayed to hell for some reason and instead of starting at 7, it started near 8:30pm. Crowd was miserable during the wait.

My friends and I managed to get near the stage by the railing so it was a good night :)

My ticket says the doors opened at 7pm, and the person I talked to inside said the concert was supposed to start at 8pm.

Wasn't really a big fan of Kyary before tonight, but I had a lot of fun. That was helped by getting a ticket in the VIP section, which put me in the very first row of the balcony. Was a great seat, and her songs were a lot of fun. I was feeling a little bad for those who don't speak Japanese, because man, when she was chatting with the crowd, the translator was doing a terrible job.

"...time flies." *laughs*

Also, if you look me up on Vine (pikoeri), I put up some from the concert.

O2 Priority this morning. Livenation whatever something Sunday morning (just sign up for the website, this is the best way to do it and it's free). General public Monday morning. Kyary sold out within about half a day of the general sale so I'd be quick on Sunday.

Amazing! So glad you guys had fun at the concert. My friend arrived "Fashionably Late" Around 8:30 and still made it in time.

I'll look up your stuff. Shidoshi. Can't get enough Kyary, she's too cute!

Edit - The little videos on Vine were cool! Looks like a good little crowd. Ticket prices were reasonable from what I saw.

Oorutaichi's one hell of an artist. He's got this knack for strange mixes of poppy melodies with invented vocalizations, samples from hell with bustling electronica, and an interest in reggae and ethnic music that manifests in odd ways. Just listen to tracks like Hamihadarigeri, Futurelina, and Moeru Himitsu feat. Kicell.

He's got a career ahead of him (been recording since 1999, actually). His music's getting featured in Masaaki Yuasa's Kick-Heart anime, for example.

Didn't expect to listen to Arashi and Kanjani8 this much :lol
I mostly listen to J-Rock but these guys are... I dunno. They're just cool. I especially love Arashi, so many catchy songs...

I still can't stand female idols though. :lol

Oh wow, that's pretty good. Reminiscent of Shugo Tokumaru, but more electronic.

He's even covered Tokumaru. But Cosmic Coco's really out there, even by Zeuhl standards. Having just listened to all of it, I can say I'll be listening for this guy's stuff for years to come. I feel like I've found the next Tatsuhiko Asano.

Will be heading to the London show. O2 Islington again - saw Kyary there last month. Can't wait!

Thanks for the tip. Yeah, I'm starting to think I'll have to queue up sooner than one hour before if I want to get near the front. Anyone else here going to Cologne and would like to buddy up to get a good place in line?

How soon did you line up for Kyary and what kind of spot did you end up getting?

I'm not sure what JPop fanbase is like in regards to queuing and whatnot, but if it's anything like the Jrock one (in the UK) then to be at or near the front then you should probably get there in the morning of the gig. Some people even camped the night prior (and in stupid cases they'd been there for days) but I believe they've banned camping outside the venue (Islington) now. Tbh, the small size of the venues usually means you can get a good view even if you're pretty far down the queue, especially when the front rows all push forward, you're still pretty close to the stage.

I have been to a lot of gigs of Japanese bands and musicians in UK (both major and indie), and I have yet to come across to any lines ques.

Some of the gigs I went to include: Suga Shikao, Lillies and Remains, FACT, Molice, Girugamesh, Bo Ningen (those sell out pretty fast), Boris, Toe and quis were quite minimal. When they were, it was OK as the shows usually start later.

Really? I've been to Giru twice and both times there were queues (I even camped the second time,) I went to the first two Dir en grey UK gigs and there were massive queues (that went right around the building) and The Gazette which had a huge queue from very early in the morning - as a lot of people camped over night.
I've not been to any in the past few years so perhaps the fans have mellowed out somewhat by now.
