Jason Schreier: Starfield is nowhere near done

Why is everyone so hype?

Never seen so many rumours for a release date, especially for a game that nobody has seen nothing of.

I guess MS have a massive game in their hands if Bethesda can deliver.

Who would've thought....

I can't believe XBox's first party dev was THIS bad. Beth is literally going to save the XBox division, but they are still a year away, at least, from having a consistent 1st party output...

343 better deliver with Halo (for my benefit too, lol) to hold the line for a while.

I miss a poll in the OP: "Who is lying about Starfield claiming to have insider info but has no fucking idea? Jason, Tom Warren or Jeff Grubb?

If it's true and doesn't get released this year, considering Ghostwire Tokyo, Deathloop and Psyconauts 2 will be released on PlayStation at launch I think Halo Infinite will remain as the only big exclusive for MS this year.

So let's hope they have an Forza Horizon 5 ready to be announced at E3 and released this year, or Halo will have too much pressure to be a fucking masterpiece to compete in Christmas and the GOTYs against all the 2021 Sony exclusives like Ratchet, Horizon 2, GoWR, Returnal and so on.

Man, this company has sure gone downhill as they really just been living off Skyrim since it came out and as that game has aged it has become more flawed even though I originally really liked it. And then to see the way the company is run I'm not sure if the equity is as high so whatever they are making it better damn will be good putting their next elder scrolls game.

I have all the access I want to be able to play their games on PC but they need to get their act together.

If it isn't coming later this year/early next year, what first party games does Xbox has to offer until then? Not trying to mock them, im genuinely just curios. Can we expect Halo or Forza Horizon 5 to release anytime soon?

Halo and Forza

They have a lot of studios so there's still a possibility they'll have some suprise games that are AA/A levels

Big budget though it's probably just those two

I am actually more interested in "It'll be at E3" than throwing Luke under the bus. I want to know at what capacity it will be at E3.

Because people want new exciting titles. Pandemic kind of hurt MS, Nintendo and to an extent Sony among third party publishers in their workflows. And since Microsoft literally launched a console without fresh new software, the talking point has been all eyes on MS.

All these xbox insiders and their rumors man. Writing has been on the wall if you were paying attention. It not starting development until 2019, and with covid probably little to no development has been made. We're probably looking at 2023 date here and thats assuming they dont drastically reduce the scope or size of the game.

So that would mean holiday 2022 or later right? Saying its nowhere near done could possibly mean even later than that. Tom Warren comes in and says yup not this year, but we are already 6 months in, that's not exactly a bold prediction is it?

Basically if it comes out first half of next year this guy must have got it wrong, "nowhere near done" would have to means years away.

The bulk of the team was working on Fallout76?!? Really?!? I had thought that only a small team made that piece of shit Fallout76 because most of the "A" team was working on Starfield.

That really worries me about Bethesda's ability to make games that aren't shit.

Wonder how heavily MS is going to rely on Bethesda's software for E3?

I'm hearing more EA announcements and possible Ubisoft announcements for gamepass might be there. I think the rumor of more EA games coming day to date is legit.

So BF6, Madden, FIFA coming day to date would be huge.

I wouldn't give too much credibility to this rumour. I'm pretty sure Starfield wouldn't be shown next month if it's 2023 bound.

Bethesda seems to be taking way too long to release one of their major RPG franchises. Up to Fallout 4 it used to be 2-4 years between a Fallout and an Elder Scrolls and now we're going on 6 years and there's nothing to release on the short term.
However, this time they probably sunk a load of time on projects no one asked for, like Elder Scrolls Blades and Fallout 76, so I'm not that surprised that Starfield is still going to take a long time to be done.

Here's hoping Microsoft will let them focus on the large-scale open-world single-player RPGs that they do best, instead of quick cash grabs like smartphone games and microtransaction-infected online games.
