Did you hear her voice? Did you hear any pain or hurt or even bitterness. At all. On any level. She's describing this story in the most detached way possible. It didn't mean that much to her.
Now getting to date a Hollywood crush you've had since you were a little kid? That huge deal for anybody. Of course he was more emotionally invested in this whole thing than she was. It's not like it matters much anyway. They only really went out for a week. Typical teenage thing.

She wasn't the one who put out the essays or the comments. She never said she dated him out of pity. She even said she was the one who initiated their first kiss. If he's already commented on the little thing in ESPN Mag and said it was no big deal, then they both already have perspective on the whole thing and have let it pass like these teenage/young adult flings usually do.
