Jerry Bruckheimer Says the Next Pirates of the Caribbean May Star Margo Robbie

How about leading women? “Women are harder. It’s just not that strong a list yet.” Is he working on a Pirates of the Caribbean sequel with a female lead? “Yes. We’re talking to Margot Robbie. We are developing two Pirates scripts — one with her, one without.” Will Depp be back? “Not at this point,” he says. “The future is yet to be decided.”

I dunno if she has the charisma to pull of a lead role. Birds of Prey didn't really blow anybody's socks off. She's pretty though.

I agree. I really like her and I think it would be great in a Pirate of the Caribbean movie, but not as a main lead character.

Oh great, a gender swapped Jack Sparrow which bears an uncanny resemblance in character to Harley Quinn doing a bad Jack Sparrow impression.

I wonder how many more boxes they'll be aiming to tick.

I mean I might watch it someday but it'll definitely be very low on the list without Depp. And we know he isn't coming back.

No Johnny Depp, no sail. :lollipop_winking:

I swear to god this was already a thing more than a year ago. Am I going crazy?
It was, and I thought the idea was shuttered in favor of a direct sequel to Dead Men Tell No Tales. Apparently Depp's said he won't work with Disney anymore since he was fired from the sixth film after Amber Heard published a hit piece, so I guess a satisfying sequel's an impossibility. Amber Heard sucks.

Even if Disney backtracked & wanted Depp again, he already said in court that he wouldn't do it even if they offered him 300 million. Not surprising after they let him go.

So, maybe 400 million? 😁

Franchise is as good as dead without him.

Just let it coast on the many movies already made instead of driving it into the ground. Sorry but jack sparrow is POTC.

So Disney wanted to work with Depp again but he said fuck off?

Can't say I blame him.

Anyway, they are in for a shocker if they go through with this movie... Shit is going to bomb.

Disney should publicly apologize not Depp and then invest in a top quality Pirates 6.

Davy Jones was teased so a return to form was potentially on the cards

Here's what will happen:

The movie will have Margo but the end credits scene will be the return of Johnny Depp for the sequel and I predict that movie will go on to beat No Way Home numbers if not get close to it.

You all know that pirates lacked hygiene and had missing teeth right? I do expect them to put a little dirt on her face and that is it.
Pirates without Depp doesn’t even make sense.
He died, she was his bastard daughter ( very woke for Disney ), she got a map from him and the plot goes on she tries to get a slave who knows latin and tries to be the first to get to the treasure . Or Hollywood will just pretend the other movies did not exist.

I don't think it's that they wanted him back, I think he just said that if they asked for him back after all this blew over, he still wouldn't take the role.

Jack Sparrow made the existing movies, but it may be time for a reboot of the style and have one that goes another direction. There's more than one way to tell pirate stories, and some fresh ideas would be welcome (tbh I got tired of Jack Sparrow after the 2nd movie).

Don't forget the one million alpacas.
