Fallout 5 has reportedly been officially greenlit and development is moving forward, though who, exactly, is leading development on the new installment in the series is currently unknown.

The report comes from the latest episode of the Xbox Two Podcast, where Windows Central executive editor Jez Corden discussed how Xbox is handling Fallout as a franchise moving forward. However, he didn't know what studio would be developing Fallout 5, as he believes Bethesda Game Studios' core teams are currently busy working on additional Starfield DLC and The Elder Scrolls VI.

Fallout 5 Is Now Reportedly "Fully Greenlit"

Obsidian probably. Todd Howard executive producer, creative lead, story, like on Indiana Jones.

But nah, I dont believe Jez on this at all. But, if MS did do this it would be a smart call though. Obsidian is just about ready for more projects other than whatever Sawyer decides to do.

I got it wrong, I thought he would have said something like this at least a couple of days earlier given the last week or so of news.

I would love to know who he supposedly talks to and who at Microsoft chose the likes of him to help carry the narratives all this time.

Predictable time and again (except the timing ha!)

A possible Gamescom game announcement is his next move probably, by Friday I guess.

Here we have the perfect example of the liar's rhetoric...

First, he alleviates a problem by saying "cancelling Blackberry is good, freeing up resources to make Fallout."

Then, "MS gave the green light to Fallout 5."

lol, yeah this won't see the light this side of 2030. And ain't no way I'll have any expectations towards this until I see how they fare with ESVI. But after Starfield I'm not hopeful.

Its a desperate attempt by Jez to spin something positive out of these layoffs. A new Fallout game is inevitable.
Well, first, there might not be enough people to make a new Fallout.

Then there might be enough people to make a new Fallout, but they're incompetent.

The Bethesda team responded on Steam saying that those who had negative reviews about Starfield "didn't understand the game" is a good sign, BEFORE the layoffs...

Honestly I would love Fallout 0, it takes place on the west coast and takes place before the events of Fallout 1. The game stays true to the lore and vibe of Fallout 1 and 2.

No way in hell Todd lets another studio do a new numbered entry.

I hope they do a fallout that takes place in a bleak nuclear winter. with snowbeasts and shit. Also i think they should do an archers guild in elder scrolls and have a bad ass story and inventive to use a bow

Oh My God Reaction GIF

[shocked in Spanish]
I am shocked by this blatantly obvious bullshit. I was greenlit like 20 fucking years ago and obviously accelerated when Starfield failed and the Fallout show led to a spike in people playing Fallout. To act like this is some kind of revelation is fucking asinine.

No shit.

Hey guys, MY sources tell me 2k/Rockstar have greenlit GTA7, they'll start working on it some time after they finish 6.

Starfield shouldn't exist. Fallout 5 should have released followed by that TV show. Would have drew a lot of sales and attention to the IP.
Bethesda did what Activision/COD tried..... cover all bases and settings.

And similarly, both their futuristic games flopped (Starfield and Infinite Warfare). Most of the time, ultra sci-fi stuff arent big sellers when it comes to shooters or RPGs. Especially not anymore. People like retro settings like WWII/medieval, or settings that are modern-ish (or close +/- a bit, but not crazy spaceship and laser sword kinds of stuff).

Not sure why. But that's how it is. I'm in the same boat.

Should have made that instead of Starfield. Sparse Fallout like gameplay spread out on planetswith absolute shit procedural generation. I mean it's good get are getting a new fallout, but it's gonna take forever to come out and I hope BGS can survive the current turmoil of the xbox brand to actually finish the damn thing.
