Oh fucking jesus, I can't wait to bump this in 2011.nyong said:I'm not sure that I like this idea. With Depp playing the villain I could see the next movie becoming more "light-hearted." Depp is incapable of playing a villian who would keep the movie and dark and disturbing as Dark Knight.

Blackjack said:Depp could do it, definitely. David Tennant is still my personal choice, but I have more than enough faith built up from BB and TDK that I'm sure whoever is picked will be excellent.
KdoubleA said:Depp is a really great actor...I love his diversity; from Donnie Brasco, to Fear and Loathing, he really can pull off a lot of roles. Take this clip for instance, from Once Upon a Time in Mexico:

and this...he and pacino were just awesome:

jett said:This reeks of bullshit. Also, I don't want some POS villain being forced into Nolan's next Batman script, if he ends up doing it.
joshuagor44 said:And I also believe Hush (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hush_(comics)) should be included. He'd tie in very well with the story.
ryutaro's mama said:"Wah, my parents are alive and yours are dead. I hate you now, Bruce!"
joshuagor44 said:Well, I'm sure there's more to it than thatAnd they can always slightly change his backstory.
:lolfistfulofmetal said:Terrible choice. I don't want a pretty boy in my gritty Batman movie. Too many stupid teen girls in the theater gawking at Depp for me to enjoy the movie.
But does he have any range? I mean, he's good on LOST, but his performance as Ben as the Riddler would be absolutely boring.Pakkidis said:![]()
I thought Gaf agreed that this man was the best riddler.
I still have no reason why anybody thinks he would make a good Riddler. He plays a good character on Lost, but nothing coming from that performance and his physical appearance shouts Riddler.Pakkidis said:![]()

@ karma - Yes. Why isn't anyone commenting on Eckhart being a pretty boy? I think he's cute.

Ditch the question marks? A plain green suit would work fine.Kibbles said:I wonder what Nolan is going to do with the Riddler, I mean a guy in a green costume with question marks all over it? :S

ryutaro's mama said:I just read the Hush wikipedia page on him and while I'm sure it works fine in a comic, his motivations seem petty, childish and out of place in the Nolanverse.
black_13 said:Still I think bringing Riddler right after Joker wouldn't be such a good idea.
And how about a good Poison Ivy. Could be good.
If they took The Dark Knight and turned it into a mindfuck then that could definitely make a worthy sequel.ryutaro's mama said:Exactly.
I always thought that if Nolan did choose to go the Riddler route, the film would be a series of smaller riddles solved throughout the film which all feed into a larger, grand finale, "holy shit my fucking mind is blown by how fucking clever that riddle is" riddle that is solved at the close of the film.
One that would become more incredible upon multiple viewings....

Are you insane?!Karma Kramer said:Pretty much every male (aside from Morgan and Michael) in BB and TDK are pretty boys.

Also, it's disappointing how many people simply missed that joke early in the thread.![]()
Missed as in it flew over their heads, not that they didn't see it.ryutaro's mama said:Well, it was early on....
