Johnny Depp signs on for 'Pirates 4', 'Alice in Wonderland', AND 'The Lone Ranger'

As soon as I read Alice in Wonderland, I figured Burton must be involved somewhere. Could be good.

I hope Depp has some kind of control over the script of pirates. If they go back to the fun times of the first movie it could be great.


I also hope he isn't doing this for the money, and just likes pretending to be a pirate. Who wouldn't?
 
I think the ending to Pirates 3 was actually a really good setup for an interesting 4th film. But that's probably the only good it actually did.

His quotes are all over the place on playing Captain Jack. He nick-named his kid after it, didn't he?

Anyways, it appears Depp is going for roles that his kids would like to see him in, but that also provide fun and intriguing characters for him to play.

He's really just trying to enjoy what he's doing a lot more than in the Gilbert Grape days, as far as I can read into~

When I read this topic, the only thing I thought about pirates 3 was, isn't the point of a trilogy that its 3. And its done?

Well the Pirates Trilogy tells the story of Will and Elizabeth... their story is done... however once ppl realized how popular Jack was becoming their have continued to be thoughts on movies surrounding his additional adventures.... as for me I don't mind a 4 at all.

Another Depp + Burton movie? I don't understand why people like this combination.
Every movie these 2 made lately was really bad. By bad, I mean embarrassingly bad.
Don't care at all for PotC4, really. Will probably watch it since there's really nothing better to do at summer. Hopefully it will focus on captain Sparrow and not another 2 shitty actors. Did anyone care about the other characters in the previous films? I came to see Johnny Depp being awesome, not Orlando Bloom looking and acting like he has no genitals.
Hoping to be surprised though. I thought the first 2 were quite fun.


Whats the Lone Ranger? Never heard of it. Any chance it'll be a serious movie?
 
I would have been more surprised if Depp wasn't in Alice in Wonderland. Is Helena Bonham Carter playing the Queen of Hearts?

I think it could have potential. It could turn into a nice campy action comedy.
 
Oh man, Srsly... The theaters are going to be chalk full with teens tripping there balls off when Alice in wonderland comes out..... 3D, Motion capture, Burton, Depp...:lol :lol :lol
 
Ugh, Pirates. If you seen the first one, that's all you need. They just get worse and WAY too drawn-out and self-indulgent after that.

VERY interested in a fucked-up Alice In Wonderland though.

Pirates 3 was some fun, beautiful, epic stuff- with one of the best movie soundtracks ever composed. To me anyway. Don't get the hate but I suppose people have their reasons.
 
Ugh, every time I read more Johnny Depp news I get more and more tired of him, regardless of the fact that I recognize him as a talented actor. I really hope he stays the fuck away from the next Batman.

what?

the tim burton hate is one thing, but it stems from one movie for the majority of you guys. the majority of tim burtons work is great and his imagination isn't comparable. i personally loved sweeney todd also.

depp is one of very few actors who can do any roll well, i'm looking forward to all three of these.
