American culture got so out of control that it went to extremes. believe ALL women, ALL men are trash, ALL drag queens are imposing fake ideas of feminism etc.
It is time everyone in America calms down and some people need to realize that everything is not a war and nothing is black and white. We in Portugal has this discussion years ago about men also being victims of domestic abuse and the stigma society imposes on them, so bad that 99% of them did not even reported to authorities. We had tv channels and society talking about this issue and yes domestic violence happens but neither does the public or the police etc takes sides unless they have evidence. This is how we advance society, exposing facts, talking... not with mass hysteria, biased media etc.

It's not even just a men vs women issue when it comes to lots of global social issues popping up lately.
A lot of the whining comes from people with access to social media and the down and out losers have been successful keeping the story alive.
You hear about a lot of societal issues in the US, but just north of the border you get a fraction of that here. If the gov and people work responsibly as opposed to being numbnuts, you can have big cities where everyone gets along. I think Toronto is hailed as the most multicultural city in the world (if not, then pretty darn close). How often do you hear about men/women, different ethnic backgrounds, rich/poor all hitting each other over the head? Hardly ever.
Both gov and people have their own responsibilities to do their part and keep things in check. When they both do and people realize you can work at a decent job, make some cash and live in a safe metro area, the cycle continues (family and career growth, society and economic growth) and the number of deadbeat or loose screw people drops. And when you get that, the less bitching you get.

Speaking of that laughable The Roots column, I recognized that a lot of the awful take "Now marginalized people and women are not going to get taken seriously!" crowd are also a lot of the same people chanting 'ACAB' over the last 2 years as well.
I read today that Seattle PD had to stop investigating adult sexual assault cases because they no longer have the resources because their department is so stretched thin since 2020 because of officers leaving for other cities/states or retiring due to being demoralized and or having to deal with too much BS. 90% of rape victims are women.
So congrats for contributing to making it more difficult in the city of Seattle for women to get their attackers off the streets. Not to mention putting out terrible columns that disregard evidence as a means to prove abuse and we should decide that based off of some marginalization pyramid.
These people are dragging society back one issue at a time.

That is what both legal teams discuss with one another on how the payments will be relegated and if part of that includes legal fees. Then they submit the option into the judge on 06/24 so that it's legally enforced.

I didn't watch any except one clip of Depp's lawyer constantly interjecting the other lawyer with "heresay and leading question".

Us men all have women in our lives we care about. Mothers, partners, daughters, sisters, etc etc, and the idea of some guy abusing them is abhorrent and one we would seek to hurt those abusers if we could.
However we also dispise those women who lie about it for their own gain. I'm sure we all know guys who have been fucked over by a scorned ex in a break up.
So I'm pretty sure I represent all dudes when I say we hate scumbags who truly abuse women, and we also hate women who lie about being abused.
The pendulum has swung too far one way, and it needs to be fixed.
Quick story about what I mean.
A guy I know cheated on his ex and she went ballistic. They had a kid and she went and put in a domestic violence report on him. It included stuff like rape etc.
The police charged him with it and he lost access to his daughter. He lost his job because it was in a field that required police clearance and was working around vulnerable people. It ruined him. One if her friends contacted him said that she had told her that she made it up to get revenge on her and that he would rue the day she ever cheated on her.
She couldn't live with herself knowing this and knowing what had happened to him.
So she agreed to record further conversations about it. She did and got her admitting on tape that it was all bullshit and her laughing about how badly he had got fucked over it.
He handed it to the police and after a few months they dropped the case on him.
He asked when they were going to charge her with making false statements etc and they said they wouldn't be doing that. Their reason was that if the prosecuted women for lying about these things it might prevent women from coming forward if they thought they could be prosecuted if their story wasn't able to be backed up.

Not just related to domestic abuse issues, but accusations in general. It sure seems whomever is lying about it gets zero penalty or at worst a minor charge. What ever happened to "if you perjure yourself in court it's big penalties".
If it goes through and a guy gets grilled he might go to jail for 10 or 20 years. If the woman lies, what's the charge? Sure isn't 10 or 20 years. As you said, probably nothing and not even pursued.
So with such one sided legal systems (so much for unbiased authorities), people might as well lie because if it doesn't work the penalties are basically non existent. Fail safe.
