They're in the first opening, yeah, but that entire panel sequence is 2 seconds long and you won't see them unless you look for them.

I'd call it a spoiler.

I slow mo'd that OP several times during my first watch, just didn't exactly know what was what at that point. You can see a lot of things in the OP's they're just not spoilers unless you know what anything is. DiU OP 1 spoilered all the stand users including Kira I just didn't know it at the time.

I personally don't care either way, but there's a difference between split-second images in an OP and a full-on static character design of the protagonist of the next part in the current thread.

The OPs are part of their respective show and are therefore not spoilers (same goes for previews). Random character art isn't and has no place in the anime thread. It ain't rocket science.

True, which is why I never post fan art in their, especially future stuff.

Now that I think about it, all the parts have zombies.

Part 1 and 2: the original zombies
Part 3: the Justice zombies
Part 5: that thing with Bruno
Part 6: Limp Bizkit
Part 7: Civil War (and arguably Scary Monsters)
Part 8: the Dolemiti thing

The only exception is Part 4, but that has ghosts.

I literally cannot wait for Part 6 to get to Sports Maxx just so I can post this very true very believable sentence.

Limp Bizkit summons invisible zombies
Translator's note: Limp Bizkit means Flaccid Pancake

so the Dolomiti guy, Jobin jerked his ankle away from his face last chapter, right? And there's a tooth in the envelope.

So is the stand power activated via teeth?

It seems like it's either activated by Dolomiti's teeth or just body contact with any part of Dolomiti's body. I thought Jobin was wearing rubber gloves in the last chapter because he didn't like chicken grease or something but it's probably related to how Dolomiti's Stand works. There's a lot of emphasis placed on his teeth in various panels.

I am just done reading Vento Aureo. Here are my thoughts.

As usual, its a really good story with a lot of fun and creative situations and fights. The characters are fun, the setting is fun, the villain is fun. Part 5 is a lot of fun.

But I believe it also didn't live to its full potential. I don't know the situation when this story was made, but it felt similar to part 2 in that it was mostly a medium to add exposition and backstory to the whole series. But contrary to Battle Tendency, its not as fulfilling with Giorgo Giovanna.

GioGio is a great character and, once again, a fun Jojo. And his ability is absolutely brilliant. But the story never felt personal to him. He is mostly there for the ride and to get to the top, but even then he is there more as the support of the team of Stand users he belongs to, rather than the heart or the head. Bruno Buccellati is by all means and purposes the true protagonist of this arc. The story is about him, the struggles are made around him, the best fights all happen with him front and center. So by the end of the story it felt that his story was robbed by GioGio. GioGio, as vital as he was to the story and the mission, just doesn't feel as someone you can't get behind, as a true leader or GangStar. So even if his resolution is nice, it doesn't feel completely earned. I'll talk about this a bit later, because first I need to talk about the setting and the villain.

So, the setting. Italy governed from the shadows by Mafiosi with supernatural abilities. Fuck yeah, brilliant, I want that. But... the setting went to fast on its mission to dethrone the Big Bad of the arc. You really don't get a taste of what is it they "do" until the epilogue, who actually has a "Mafia" themed episode. Really the setting is just an excuse to have the Big Bad be enigmatic and deserving of a beating, while also powerful enough to pose a threat and somehow explain Pornaleff presence. I really was expecting more of a slowly rising in the ranks to get the Boss, not a travel the land/Rescue the Chick story that feels similar in a lot of ways to Stardust Crusaders. I love Stardust Crusaders and I really liked Vento Aureo, but its still a bit disappointing how fast it escalated.

Before going to the Villain, lets talk about the supporting cast. They are all great. All of them felt like true co-workers who happened to become friends do to the bond of fighting together. Their treatment of Giorno as an outsider is believable, even if how they came to thrust him felt a bit forced, but I guess the idea is for Giorno to evoke the same "admiration" DIO used to evoke in people. The power of Charisma, so I guess its fine. Also was surprised by how well Trish was managed, showing she was not dumb and also really damn useful when the time came. Abbacchio, Mista, Narancia, even Fugo who got almost no screentime, they are all cool and given a lot of time to show off their powers, some of the best fights in the series for sure.

Now, to the main event for me. The Boss. This fucking guy(s). I had seen the memes but I was still not ready. I immediately grasped the concept when I read the manga, it pretty much worked like the concept of tha episode of Futurama when the time kept on jumping. It pretty much was The World but even more broken, because Diavolo not only could predict the future, but be the only one to be aware of how they got there. That is absolutely terrifying and disorienting. Other than his range it really had no weakness. His first fight with Bruno was just breathtaking, how Bruno rapidly grasped the situation and managed to save Trish by pretty much been 11 steps ahead. Woof, brilliant stuff. He dying yet not dying there was kind of a cop-out, he should have totally died there. I get it was necessary for later scenes to make sense, but damn it, from a story point perspective GioGio should have taken over there and then if he wanted to make this part his.

And here comes my main issue with the series: The way they beat Diavolo was just not earned. The Arrow giving secondary powers if it hits a Stands was really exciting because I wanted to see King Crimson get even more broken. All the Stands really, I wanted to see all of them get to the Next Level. In the final battle, all the characters switch bodies because of Pornaleff fucking up (lol, I guess some thing never change). And GG ends up switching with Narancia. So what happens then? Narancia is just killed. This was just such a cheap dead. Its explained in-context as "So sudden, so sad" but it was clearly just there so GG could get back to his body and proceed. And the final struggle to get the arrow is pretty damn cool. Both sides don't know how to deal with an out of control stand, and its very clever that the villain figures it out first. And its pretty cool how they actually beat him to the arrow.

But then GioGio just gets the arrow and gets the ultimate power and just MUDAMUDAMUDA the bad guy and wins. And thats it. He gets the exact power needed to completely overpower him. Very simple. Oh man talk about anti-climatic. Maybe its my fault but from JoJo I always expect a "Not quite yet" moment. How cool would it had been if Diavolo would have also succeeded and the arrow accepted them both? He was clearly capable of figuring out a way to get there, as we saw on his few battles. We didn't get to see our villain go to his full potential and that seems like a waste. It was like having Cell die in its imperfect form. It just felt like Araki really just wanted to get it over with.

All in all, I think this one is the weakest of the arcs I have read so far. It is extremely well done, absolutely beautiful and the characters are great, but the story and the character arcs needed more time to breath and to get us to really care about this characters. GioGio in particular lacked a personal attachment to the story and that kind of hurt its ending.

Now onto Stone Ocean, so far its amazing, lets see how it holds up!

I may make more in-depth comments when I have the time, but suffice it to say, I agree with a lot of what you say about Vento Aureo, particularly about Bruno being top dog (though I know a lot of folks will disagree) and Narancia getting a raw deal (which I think almost everyone can agree on).

EDIT: Actually, I have time to say this.

RE: Diavolo
I think my biggest gripe with Diavolo is that his primary motivation, "Protect my identity so my lifestyle continues uninterrupted", is the same as Kira's. Compared to Kira, Diavolo has a more offensive/active approach to dealing with threats, and his lifestyle is certainly a lot more complicated than the quiet life Kira prefers, but both are mainly driven by that same need to keep their identities a mystery. So, to some (meta) extent, it felt like Diavolo was unintentionally cribbing on Kira, which in turn begs a comparison to Kira that Diavolo can't possibly win.

Diavolo is basically the Wizard of Oz mixed with Allied Master-computer. His entire empire is built upon building himself up as a sort of larger than life, all-powerful, omnipotent being that functioned as a sort of Old-Testament God. It was, in his mind, the only way one man could rule all of Italy. He wanted people know his existence and his presence, but if people could put a face or a name to him, then he's just a man. That's why he so desperately wanted to kill his daughter. She was going around telling people that she was the bosses daughter. She didn't know anything about him, but the fact that she exists would make him seem much more 'mortal' and cast doubt on his godhood.

So basically, while Kira was just trying to blend into the crowd, Diavolo managed to trick at least the entire criminal underworld of Italy that he was an unstoppable, immortal being. It wasn't until his daughter revealed herself that the Assassination squad decided it was possible to take a swing at him.

Narancia's sudden death was pretty lame, especially since he mentions that he wants to return to school in his hometown like two chapters before he gets killed off. Might as well have put a giant billboard on him saying "THIS CHARACTER IS GOING TO DIE." To be fair, Araki usually isn't subtle when it comes to foreshadowing the deaths of his characters in general.

saliva maybe ?

It's possible. Gappy specifically mentions that there's a stain on the letter, so it could have been a saliva stain.

Kira is just such a much better character and villain, but other than them wanting to remain anonymous I don't feel that many similarities. In a way I think he is the opposite of Kira, since the episode he is introduced as his alter ego we see that trouble seems to find him, instead of him looking for it. Everyone wants to take advantage of him or is drawn to him and he just wants to be leaved alone.

While Kira had luck on his side so he would be undetected for so long, Diavolo was pretty much forced to get power so no one would dare go against him. Its very subtle but really well done and it makes for a great motivation, the main issue I have with it is that his actions in trying to deal with stuff himself really goes against the personality he is given and only explained away by paranoia. Why rule over tons of people if he can't get a girl killed under his order? Doing it himself makes kind of sense, but there was more ways to make it happen. If there was any risk of getting discovered he was powerful enough to deal with the assassins and make it all disappear again. After all, his real identity was, well, no one.

But again his real weakness was not his stand, it was his alter ego, so I guess it makes sense he was afraid. And I am really sad this was not exploited by the end.

Oh, I agree that when you add everything up, Kira and Diavolo have fewer similarities than they do differences. It's specifically the emphasis on the discovery of identity, however, that (at times) made Diavolo and Part 5 feel like they were covering the same ground as Kira and Part 4 while I was reading it.

Although, seeing as how you mentioned you're already into Stone Ocean, you're in for a treat, because Part 6's antagonist is a big upgrade from Diavolo.

I like how Whitesnake and C-Moon look like these creepy weird human-monster things that otherwise seem like the kind of stand you'd expect from the final boss, and then Made in Heaven is this weird-ass satyr thing with a horse head coming out of its crotch and clocks for faces and jesus fuck araki what the hell is that thing

Whitesnake is my third favorite Stand in the entire series. So watching it evolve was... certainly something.

Watching it become C-Moon: "Oh... I guess the green baby is all grown up now?"

Watching C-Moon become Made in Heaven: "Uhhh... what?"

What translation did you read? Cuz I know the good new english retranslation is only like 70% done, so if you read it in english then a good chunk of it is still pretty bad.
I followed a guide on reddit and went to a Spanish translation for the badly translated parts to compare.

How dare you even ask that?
Never question the poses
Can't wait to get to Awaken My Masters in the manga. Easily one of my favorite parts, though the Mayan dub step pretty much enhanced that scene. So Smokey says the Ripple can make animals sleep by touching them, yet I've never once seen that put to use. So Joseph Joestar-kun has Spike Spiegel's yellow dress shirt, yet he's stretching it the fuck out with his muscles. On page 11 dude wants to flip up some females dress on sight. I don't remember him being this sexualized in the anime. So Jolyne's just like this? That Nazi medical science must be top fucking notch if it was able to save Speedwagon cause his head got split right open.

Stone Ocean opens with Jolyne slamming her head against a prison bunk because she got caught masturbating by a guard.

And her reaction to enemy「snails」is pretty telling

So she inherits pretty much every trait Jotaro didn't? Sounds good. Fucking Straights went evil cause he was horny for immortal Dio.

That's actually pretty much what I meant since Jotaro has nothing of Joseph or Josuke, but Jolyne is plenty of Joseph and Josuke. Shit if Jolyne was retconned into Josuke's kid it'd actually make sense. I'm just sitting here staring at this page where Joseph is wearing 3 fucking hats and the hats look like they're being held in place by a giant fishing hook and the hat on the bottom has what looks like a scuba snorkel coming out of the bottom of it. Just...why Araki? Granny Erina with those glasses on looks like a fucking Bloodborne custom character...
