Just finished watching the CWC opening.

Gran Metalik is great.
Alejandro Saez is pretty impressive for a guy his height.
Hoho Lun seems like he really needs to learn wrestling psychology and how to sell.
Ariya Daivari was fine, although kind of forgettable, like his brother.
Cedric Alexander is great, though he was good in ROH too. Losing 25 pounds really makes him look a lot better.
Clement Petiot was decent, though unspectacular.
Sean Maluta seemed like he was incredibly nervous and was quite lucky that he didn't get seriously hurt.
Kota Ibushi was Kota Ibushi. Made his opponent look great while making himself look great.

Keep in mind

Ibushi has literally had great matches with a blowup doll. Don't get worked.

It wasn't even the match but just his demeanor. I mean, it's not hard to be more likeable than Roman or the Usos, but still.

At first I thought the match should be a squash but I'm still not sure what the kayfabe is like for this thing. They're saying these are the 32 best cruiserweights but that's obviously not true, and I get that this is more of a sport presentation so they want it to be competitive but it's kind of awkward in the case of Ibushi going against someone they're straight up saying is green and inexperienced.

Whatever. Just thinking out loud. Ibushi looked great.

It seems like, at least in the first round, the matches are treated as exhibition matches where everyone gets chances to shine rather than having squash matches and things like that.

Yeah, and I get that this isn't the type of special where you want to have squash matches necessarily. Some of the stuff just seemed at odds and Ibushi is obviously just so much more of a star than anyone of the first episode.

Gran Metalik was cool.

Balor/Nakamura was alright. Not a classic but almost made Balor interesting. I really hate the dead eye stare Balor has for most of his matches.

CWC was great as to be expected. I think HoHo and Maluta were the only kinda eh participants. Everybody should get a NXT contract if they want it.

I think Daniel Bryan was a bit rough on commentary, there were times he'd go silent and you could tell he's being fed some facts to get him started up again.

Just watched Nakamura vs Balor.

Holy shit, what a match. I felt like I was 10 years old watching it, got completely absorbed.

So, so good.

I loved it, but the no-selling Nakamura's leg really bugged me. How hard would it have been to have done a 'I don't care if it hurts me strong style lives on' grit teeth thing? He basically gave up pretending like Balor didn't spend ten minutes working it.

Yeah I thought the beginning was really great with Balor fucking his legs up with every move but then it's time for him to make his comeback and do all his leg moves.

WWE doesn't believe in selling anymore man. It's not what's hot to them.

He did leg moves and immediately grabbed his leg every time. Finn kicked out of his finisher because he couldn't put his full strength into it. Him being able to do the final three moves after Finn missed his finisher can be attributed to adrenaline. After the match he immediately fell down and grabbed his "injured" leg.

Well at least some of you guys are talking about a Finn match, that's a hell of a lot more than can be said about his last few big ones.

Of course, his best match was against Neville because Neville is incapable of having a bad match when given time to do so.

I think my favorite bit of post-match selling from last year was Sasha/Becky at Takeover when Sasha won and the ref tried to hold her hand up that had been in the armbar but Sasha made him hold her other arm up instead.

Yeah, Shinsuke was selling the knees good at first, but then after he went right back to his leg based offense without making it look believable.

But that's the only downside I can think of to the match. Looking forward to watching it again.

I want to see Neville vs AJ happen, probably one of my most wanted matches, too bad it probably won't get enough time, unless Neville gets a huge push and manages to escape the midcard

The CWC was great. I don't know many of the guys in it asides the returning WWE stars and the big Indie names, but all four matches impressed me. Even the people you knew were definitely going to lose were really good. If I had to guess, Ibushi will probably win the whole thing. I really like HoHo too, liked the energy he had going on like the big ass smile when he kicked out.

CWC was great. The matches were cool, the presentation was cool and commentary was cool. I liked everything about it. Bryan was a joy to listen to and he made a great pairing with Ranallo.

Also in other news, I bought the Marine 3 yesterday because it was fifty cents and I spotted it while browsing and decided fuck it. I will check it out because Miz. And if I like it, I can watch 4 because Summer Bae.
