This argument doesn't hold up against Superman killing Zod though. Zod was just as powerful as him, and would likely have surpassed him if not killed. Plus, MoS was an origin story, it was his first fight. Of all the things in MoS to complain about, and I'll admit there were many even though I loved the movie, killing Zod doesn't seem to me to be one of them.

Superman is strong enough to snap Zod's neck but not strong enough to just hold his head in place and let the humans escape, and then knock out/restrain Zod after that?

Well yeah, when you're adapting a work from one form of media to the other it's usually a good idea to preserve the character as much as possible. Otherwise you get shit like the Seth Rogan Green Hornet movie, or those shitty Resident Evil movies.

Those are shit because they're shit.

You'll find many more adaptations that succeed in spite of deviations from the source rather than find many movies that are garbage ONLY because they're different. Nobody's walking out of the Resident Evil movies saying "yeah that was some great Matrix vomit there, but it just wasn't like the source material and that is its ultimate failing".

In the case of superhero movies specifically there have been way more bad superhero movies that stray from the source material than good ones that stray from the source material. Wanting to deviate from the source material is usually the first of many further bad decisions from the team in charge of the movie. And even the good ones that stray from the source material don't exactly stray far away, like X-Men First Class and the Burton Batman movies.

I think the best example of a good comic book movie that strayed pretty far away from its source material is probably Blade

When you read about some of the behind the scenes stuff of Man of Steel you get a real understanding of why Zack Snyder has absolutely zero understanding of the character.
Apparently Snyder really wanted to have Superman kill Zod at the end of the movie. Both WB and Chris Nolan himself told Snyder not to do it because it would be out of character for Superman to do something like that. Snyder retorted with "well what if Superman was in ____ situation" and basically kept on the fly redoing the final moments of the Zod/Superman fight until he was in a situation were Superman would finally have to kill someone. So basically he desperately wanted Superman to do something out of character for the sake of having Superman murder someone.

When Nolan of all people is saying your character is going against the grain you know you fucked up.

Can any NJPW die hards clue me in on to the appeal of Takahasi? He's easily my least favorite wrestler in NJPW, more than Taichi and Tanga Roa

I'm assuming you mean Yujiro, not his much better brother, Hiromu.

As for Yujiro, his appeal is in two areas:
1. The filthy sax in his theme
2. His escorts

And as we know, the New Japan cameramen are pervy as fuck:

Can't wait for Jinder to say Cena will run off to Hollywood soon enough and then Cena cuts some worked shoot of how Jinder was a jobber only a few months ago and Cena will never leave.

Blade 1, god damnit

I actually watched it recently and it's amazing how much of it holds up in parts. Unfortunately, Dorff's shitty nu-metal villain, some pacing issues, and the atrocity of the final fight drag it down.

Thankfully, there's a lot to like in that movie outside of Snipes though.

I still don't know why Vito was a thing.
Someone had to be the toughest man to wear a dress and go to the clubs with Michael Cole as commentary often insinuated.

Like when he refused to open his eyes at the end of Blade 3 so they superimposed eyes onto him.

Mario and Metroid are still draws.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is looking like Bray Wyatt: lots of potential buried beneath a mountain of L's.

Why is Tim Burton doing the Dumbo live action? And why is Ice Cube directing and staring in Oliver Twist?

Disney has gone mad

days gone look dull as fuuuuuck, why is anyone hype for this

Cause it's a platform exclusive, so they feel the need to act excited to protect the mothership.

If it was some multiplaform game from Deep Silver or something nobody would give a singular fuck. It looks dreadful.
