It's been released, but Piper suffers more from revisionist history than even Hulk Hogan himself.

It's hard to take anything that happened to Piper or anything Piper says happened to him before a few years or so seriously. Dude was pumped full of booze and drugs for pretty much his entire adult life until just a couple of years ago. And he makes EVERYTHING sound like the most dramatic thing ever, especially in the last few years. My guess at what happened: Pat made a weird sexual comment towards a young Piper, Piper took offense to it. Pat made a lot of weird sexual comments on Legends House towards...everyone really. Even people not in the house.

He was feuding with Steamboat and then Steamboat got hurt and had to vacate the title (and retire), so Jim Duggan was plugged into that spot, won the title from Austin in like 15 seconds, and beat him every time for a couple of months and Austin moved on to being a full on jobber to the stars right after it. They weren't concurrent feuds.

Probably the worst burial I have ever seen in professional wrestling. Atleast that burial lead to a legend throwing stevewisers at crowds.

Greatest wrestling movie ever.

Wrestlemaniac

While driving a van through Mexico looking for a location for shooting a low-budget porn, Alphonse, Steve, Dallas, Debbie, the alcoholic Daisy and the pothead Jimbo get lost and meet a stranger in a remote gas station run out of gas in the middle of nowhere. The man gives the directions for the nearest gas station, and advises the group to avoid the ghost town La Sangre de Dios. Steve recalls the Mexican legend about the best Mexican wrestler, El Mascarado, who became crazy and started killing his opponents, and was sent to this town later. The director Alphonse decides to trespass the gate of La Sangre de Dios and shoot the film in the local bar. Sooner the group discovers that Mexican legends sometimes are true.

Only good thing about Piper is I hope he has Orndorff on it. Guy doesn't have enough shoot material out there which is a shame because he's hilarious.

And Kidman sucks. 'He put the flip flops to 'em'

Aiii

So not worth it
What is this gossip you speak of?

Just that, gossip. Indirect comments by either side. AJ and Kaitlyn of course are good friends, and they used to ride with Eve before she left. Then there are interviews where AJ buries The Bellas and The Bellas bury AJ. There is definitely bad blood there.

Nothing confirmed of course, just rumors and I haven't seen or found a proper rundown of Kaitlyn's shoot so who knows if there is any real information there.

Wish I could get to Rev Pro or Progress sometime

I enjoy PCW but I wish they would focus more on young talent than bringing in big names. You have a feeling that there is a resentment around towards this type of promotion.

Naturally, the first person in Starrcade 83 is Bugsy McGraw.

You can't escape that piece of shit. He was in every territory ever except for WWE. He showed up on at least one of the Slamboree shows and was on Impact once or twice as well. I wouldn't recommend watching the whole show. Just watch Piper/Hammer.

Hold on. Impact? Impact?! As in TNA Impact?!?!

Rockin' some brown tights and dancin' up a storm if I remember correctly (I probably don't).

Don't listen to this man. Starrcade '83 got a B in the prestigious Chronological PPV Super Grades. Heck, just come over and we'll watch it together.* I'm making veggie tacos.

*You're the fellow Tulsan, right?

You're not really invited, you sicko.

It's hard to criticise, because it does seem to work for PCW - I'd say Rev Pro are similar to them, in that they try and mix British talent, imports and big names, but it's something they're still tweaking. I don't think they've sold out York Hall since the show with Bret Hart last year and there were still tickets available on the door tonight. I'd say some of the resentment comes from the fact that there is a HELL of a lot of good British talent at the momemt and it'd be nice to think PCW could do as good business with less imports, but I'm not sure if that'd be the case.

The main problem is the owner by all accounts is an arrogant prick.

People have suggested some Japanese talent to bring in and he responds with 'who are they never heard of them'

Most people will go initially to see a big name but want to stay for the uk talent but sometimes I feel that takes a back seat.

Having said that some imports have been superb, Uhaa Nation is great fun.

Infinite in Liverpool is fun along with Futureshock apparently which us Dave Raynes school.

Yeah, I really want to see Uhaa sometime, dude's freakishly good. Also, I've really got to get my arse to the Dragon Gate UK shows one year, the line-up is amazing this time around.

I've been meaning to grab an Infinite show sometime, was very impressed with Zack Gibson when he wrestled in Progress. Southside are meant to be pretty good as well, seems there's a lot to like in British wrestling at the moment.

Yes. He was Mick Foley's head of security for at least one show apparently.

For fuck's sake.

Considering peeking at a lamp of TNA, because I'm sick in the head. Just for a couple minutes.

Don't illegally watch TNA, listen to the latest totally free (thanks to the sponsors) episode of the Theszcast. Officially Wrasslegaf's longest running podcast.

Just looking at this match makes me miss the 6 sided ring. X division matches with 4 sides are like pokemon fighting in a ant farm.

It really infuriates me when fake wrestling journalists talk as if Lanny is holding Randy in the HoF hostage. I'd be fucking steaming if I was Lanny at this shit.
He said in interviews that despite the fact WWE wanted to induct Randy only, he felt that he and his father should be inducted with Randy. Meaning the Poffo Family would be inducted….and he claimed “it’s what Randy would have wanted.”
He claimed. You really think Randy would give the decision to a guy who would want to get himself inducted when Lanny has even said that they could put Randy in if they wanted to, they just better not involve him at all.

Just the tone in which that was written really set me off.

I have a question about Roddy Piper. Was he a good wrestler? I'm (maybe?) ashamed to say I've never seen much of his matches. He can get really intense with the promos so he has that down, but most everything I've seen from him is the snooze matches he had with Hulk Hogan in WCW, which I couldn't exactly fault the guy for seeing as how he had a replaced hip. Him pretty much resorting to calling Hulk Hogan a faggot is pretty much preventing me from actually seeing if he was any good.

I did see him vs Golddust at Wrestlemania..12? That was kind of entertaining, I guess. Though the entire angle was about Golddust not being a real man and a fa--I'm noticing a trend with Roddy Piper.

Like if he's really good or something I'll check more of his matches out but if he's just average I can just fill my needs for an average to pretty good wrestler who uses homophobia as a weapon with John Cena.

His only legit good match was against Bret at WM8.

I know Stro is with me in the Roddy Piper sucks camp don't know about everyone else. His promos are also incredibly overrated. Basically, Roddy Piper is more overrated than Hulk Hogan.

He was not a good wrestler. He wasn't even a good wrestler with much better opponents except for Bret at WM8, a Ric Flair house show (on the Network), and against Valentine at Starrcade. He wasn't even officially trained. He was a character, not a wrestler. He should have been a manager who wrestled once in a while like Fuji/Heenan/Capt. Lou.

Piper was never on my radar as far as favorite wrestlers is concern. His promos are forgettable and his matches were kind of boring (I never seen bret/piper). Overall, he's overrated and meh at best.

Cool, I kinda felt bad just judging him on like 3 matches but now I don't.

Remember when Piper drafted the contract for his match vs Hollywood Hogan, won by Sleeper Hold, but forgot to put the title on the line in the contract?

Creative control is awesome.

Remember when piper spent time in Alcatraz to prepare for his cage match with hogan?

It's generally not fair to judge just about any ex-WWF guy who was in WCW after 1994, as they were old and broken down. Piper was bad in the ring even in his physical prime. His promo skills as a heel were really getting heat by saying ridiculous racist shit all the time. As a face, his promos were often unintelligible, homophobic, and cheezy as shit. I've never really been much of a fan of Piper. I liked his promos as a kid, but thought he sucked in the ring even as a kid.

The best part was that the PPV opened with his "release day". Who were the security guards who released him? Were they just babysitting him the whole time? They do realize that wasn't a real prison anymore, right?

Man I remember actually hyping up the main event since I was a huge wcw mark at the time. I never felt so exhausted watching a cage match in my life. It was like watching two slugs fight over a ant encrusted lollypop.

I thought I liked Roddy Piper before I started watching all of these Roddy Piper matches and promos. And don't get me started on his commentary.
