Yoshi's Island never connected with me the same way Mario 3, World, or DKC2 did and I feel sad about that because I can't get the same level of enjoyment out of it that others did
dude as much as I disagree with you on Mario 3, just forget Yoshi's Island. It's a really bad game with a cult following, but you and I both know they're just a bunch of nerds

Super Mario World is easily the best 2D game in the series.
Mario 3 also had a movie made just to show it off. No game does that today. You can't make a movie JUST to promote a game nowadays.

Donkey Kong ever since the 16 bit days has been weird, like some alternate universe where you didn't get Mario, but somehow Donkey Kong was the chosen one. It's unusual, it just feels a little off, like you time traveled and disturbed one pebble that made the world different.
It's weird. Donkey Kong will never compare, but it's good in its own right. It just feels wrong in a lot of ways. Just...off.

I like a Castlevania. But I think there's two sets of Vania folks. People who either LOVED Super Castlevania IV, or people who hated it because it wasn't challenging at all, and was actually the babiest baby mode of any Vania. Where do you fall?

it certainly does not get enough love. I had the DK/DK Jr cart for NES. DK Jr. got way more play out of me. Game is fantastic. Mario being the villain is also inspired.

Sonic is garbage. I can't even replay Sonic 2 because that game does not hold up to nostalgic memories. It's a platformer about speed, but often you get punished for going to fast by running right into spikes. So, you need to slow down and awkwardly jump around with floaty jumps.

I finally played it the other day. Tough, but it was actually pretty fun.
Sonic is better than FF4, FF6, and the entirety of the Robocop franchise.
And that's a shoot.
