Jurassic GAF |OT| The Park is closed, the World is open

They need to bring it to SF. I need to go.

So at GDC apparently they have a JP casino game now? Basically Let's Make a Deal but JP.

There is a rumor floating around that the Jurassic World sequel may film in London.

I personally believe there is some substance behind the rumor, but also think it'll be for Pinewood Studios, not dino mayhem on the streets.

I'm just starting to wonder if they can actually avoid something like that. I mean sure creativity is an open world, but on movie 5, with the last one being another failed park, it's going to have to really get out there. I think your suggestions on Twitter were cool. It'll just have to be where the story is really. I wonder how they go about doing that, if they think of places where they'd like one to be set before writing it or just writing and see where the story goes or a bit of both.

I don't think it has to be jungle or city though. I wouldn't prefer a city environment but it would depend on the city environment. If it were something like London (though I agree it's probably referring to Pinewood) at night, that might be cool, but it would depend on how they did it. I would like to see dinosaurs in more building type locations though, I absolutely loved those brief scenes in the Innovation Center at the climax of Jurassic World.

I just got stumped. Why are all the dinosaurs female in Jurassic park/world? I know it's too deny reproduction, but there has to be other reasons I'd think.

We need more dinosaurs on dinosaur action in JW2.

You know the last 20 minutes or so
With the raptor squad being badass and the soldiers going after Indominus in the jungle at night
And the raptor squad turning on them
And the raptor squad attacking Indominus

That

I want the entire next movie to be that head to toe.

Yeah dinosaurs fighting and people with guns is the main movie I want.

Basically Aliens but with dinosaurs

I mean, I still want it to have some heart/soul. I don't want it to be a mindless action thing. Some would say that about Jurassic World but IMO if you said that about JW you could say it about JP. For me the family story was that anchor, it wasn't anything profound but it worked, just like Alan/Lex/Tim in JP. Nothing deep, but it provides just enough warmth to make it feel like it's more than just action.

I'd be slightly worried that a movie like that full-on may lose some of that soul, but at the same time it was so fucking cool in JW. I'm not saying it needs kids or family drama but it would still absolutely need some charm/soul to anchor it.

Honestly, if they modified my idea for a JP4 to work as a post JW film, it could still have that family drama warmth.

My original idea had a wealthy Costa Rican family secretly sheltering dinosaurs on their land and showing them off to woo potential business partners. But a rival convinces the owner to allow a closer look and shit goes Jurassic.

Instead of the family making a phone call to Sarah Harding to aid in bringing the dinos back (with the rival group trying to thwart them upon arrival) like my original idea, maybe we can see several families keeping dinos and ingen militarizing in a small town and trying to round them up. Claire and Owen could have settled down there and find themselves in the middle of it all yadda yadda.

Edit: if you don't think it'd be cool seeing Triceratops being used on a farm, you suck.

First thing is they need to focus on few maga scenes.

We do not need more dinosaur in every scene. There needs to be build up. Every scene needs to feel important.

JP and JP 2 were amazing because there was buildup and action was packed in few scenes.

JP had dino break scene and raptor kitchen scene as classics.

Keep less scene but make them memorable. JP world was okay for us dino lovers but It was not the best it could have been so much better.

Also do not make humans too dumb. Jp world did it too many times.

English may not be your first language and I mean no disrespect, but "Jp world" makes me laugh.

"Welcome to Jurassic Park World!"

Nice try. But a story of Ray Arnold surviving with only one arm for 20 years on the island would be pretty badass. Like Robinson Crusoe with dinosaurs, can't go any more amazing than that.

It would make for a pretty cool story.

Really, there's so many cool stories that could be told in the inter-park years.

But that's what concerns me about the franchise going forward—to rip off BioShock, there's got to be a man trying to corral nature for good or ill, there's got to be an island, there's got to be a park. It's there in the name, and this veering towards dino-hybrid stuff reeks of jumping off the rails into something that will bear no resemblance to that established aesthetic.

If his arm wasn't ripped off it would be neat to see him return, but realistically that would be way too far of a stretch - even for a film with dinosaurs living alongside man.

It would make a cool toy though!

I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself. To be fair, it's meant to be satirical, incredibly exaggerated and fake at first glance!

Dammit we totally forgot the vape in the picture:

It's gonna be Bayona.

Speaking of which, you can watch the trailer for his upcoming movie 'A Monster Calls' (based on the book by the same name) here: https://youtu.be/gznBvoDQYLI

The three different styles on display between that, The Orphanage and The Impossible has me intrigued.. I think he'll be a good a fit.

So, I decided it's time I tried to teach myself photoshop & how to use a wacom tablet.. here's my first stab at it, a alternate Jurassic World Raptor 'Red'

For my first time I'm pleased with the base sketch.. now to practice and practice. And on that note, can we get some new Jurassic World 2 or expanded universe news?

Nice art.

Makes me wish the color variety on the raptor squad was more diverse. Even on the newest Bluray the other 3 kind of blend together aside from blue.

So, they're finally making human Jurassic World action figures.. this is just hitting stores now, so I snapped some pics:

nlgJ5vk.jpg

Owen is slightly larger than the JP3 Alan Grant, and larger than Finn from The Force Awakens. However, he's still smaller than the Kenner Jurassic Park figures. I'll be honest, he looks more like Chris Pratt than any other Jurassic toy looks like their actor. It's a nice figure set, and a big jump in quality over the 2015 JW toys.

Now this is fantastic:

Officially licensed The Lost World: Jurassic Park™ Stegosaurus by Chronicle

Molded from the Stan Winston original maquette, the Stegosaurus measures a huge 31″ long, 15″ tall and 10.5″ wide and was hand painted to closely match the iconic look seen in the movie. Also included is a custom designed museum quality base, featuring a dry riverbed look which has her footprints inset in the sand - the Stegosaurus is separate and can be displayed off of the base as well. The base measures 14″ x 10.5″ x 2″.

Pre-orders for the The Lost World Jurassic Park Stegosaurus Maquette opened on Friday April the 15th at 5PM CST at ChronicleCollectibles.com. The initial retail price is $500 for the first 30 days of pre-orders, and afterwards it goes up to the regular price of $550. Each piece is hand numbered with a Certificate of Authenticity. Edition size is currently TBD.

If you're even moderately interested, please help spread the word. Chronicle is a smaller company and doesn't have the following like Sideshow, but their quality is top and the better this does the more we get (and better prices can become)

Looks amazing. Just checked the site and saw that they also have a t-rex head mount for the wall. I would so get if I didn't have so many ongoing (pricey) collections as it is. Would love both!

If you have any collector friends, or belong to any other forums that may be interested, spread the word!

They have a stunning JP T rex breakout diorama statue that'll be unveiled in the coming weeks..
