I know some folks are down on the D-Rex idea but since JP was always about the potential negatives of bioegineering, this is their way of updating that concept and making it fresh again. Otherwise we're just looking at a retread of the other films. Hell, based on the comments that stated there are no good guy and bad guy dinos, just predator and prey makes me think that this film will have more "realistic" dinosaur behavior but still offering a wrench in the system with the D-Rex portaying the typical movie monster role for entertainment purposes.
I want more realistic dinos as much as the rest of you, but that isn't going to happen. Besides, I'd rather see blood thirsty tigers in A Jungle Book over a Disney nature movie about two tigers bonding with a family and going back to the wild or whatever.

The concept of the "I"/"D"-Rex has been around for YEARS. Hasbro did some early blue sky JP4 concepts with a similar idea back in 2004. And then this was created in 2006, but fell through:

People can be mad at Colin all they want about the I/D-Rex, but fact is, Universal/Spielberg really wanted JP4 to have genetically altered dinosaurs for YEARS. I am sure Jurassic World is Colins baby, but I am also sure he went in that direction for the hybrid due to Universals wishes. That said, final product is probably entirely his and his art teams creation, only building upon the legacy that former JP4 attempts left behind.
Anyways, I think a lot can be gleaned by looking back at the old JP4 art leaks, and mixing them with the description of this new Dinosaur to fill in the blanks. The old leaks are our frog DNA if you will.
AFAIK, no.
The real T-Rex will be there also.
And for what it's worth, I hear they have no plans on pulling a JP3 and trying to dethrone the T-Rex.

That statuette looks pretty awesome, but the "thing" on the right of the concept art... wow :/
And with the whole mutant dino thing, I think that's pretty much evident in the toys, too. Kenner did those hybrid dino figures at the end of their run. Some looked kind of interesting, but maybe those plans were made along side of the movie being thought out with a similar idea?
I really dislike those horns. It should have just two and they should be twisted or have some kind of curve.

Man there are so many things in this movie that seem similar to the Telltale game. That scene where Nedry died (including jeep, Ned's body, that sign and the dilo's) was one of the first scenes in the game (they're looking for
the embryo's that Ned stole
Not saying the movie is a rip off of the game. There are only so many things you can do when you try to create a sequel to a movie like JP. And it's the same franchise after all, so who cares.

All signs point to Indominus being used apparently.
One way or another, Universal trademarked both names and owns websites for both.
Indominus sounds a lot better, but I am familiar with Diabolus at this point.
Something I have been curious about for a while, and I hope I don't come off irritating, but there is something about the

No idea, but Colin did touch on this sorta.
Chris Pratt's character works with/studies the Raptors. I'm assuming they are controlled and contained in some manner, but it's possible they were wild, and some still remain out there.
You know, something I have always been curious about in Jurassic Park is the method of "Nurture versus Nature" and the effect it has on these films. The first book gave us two completely different kinds of raptors; the raptors bred in the park almost seem sinister compared to those born in the tunnels, who in turn seem to behave like actual animals.
Granted, TLW depicted ruthless raptors regardless, but it makes me wonder how prior contact with Men affects how the dinos turn out. There was, and remains to this day, something absolutely terrifying about the Raptors in the first Jurassic Park.
Perhaps it is because they remember...

I think in a concept (or maybe the park pamphlet), it showed them outside.
You know, for all the talk about this movie being "someone else’s childhood" Jurassic World is stacked to the brim with old references and familiar aesthetics.
This movie may not feature Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, or Sam Neill but is have everything else.
And who knows, maybe there might be a secret camera after all.

That's okay. It's not about those characters. The way they were shoehorned into the sequels was borderline painful and further illustrates the point.
Well, Malcolm was the main character of TLW book and JP3 was practically Grant's story so I wouldn't say "shoehorned."
I agree with the logic, it's not about three unlucky people though. That being said, I would love to see them play those characters one more time. We're getting sequels, right?

Well, I'm kind of criticizing the book there, too. I say shoehorned because the reasons given to Malcolm and Grant for going back were super lazy.
Such a shitty dinosaur :/
Hasn't had the time to engrain itself on generations of people so it'll never have the same fear/impact as the classics.

I actually do not think the gates are coming back. At the very least, if they built them, they aren't in the original location, nor did anyone see the set.
