The people who wrote this movie wrote the first two Planet of the Apes reboot films right?
This movie might not suck on that basis alone.
If they can work that into it in a very organic and sensible (in context) way, I'd be fine with it. It's all about the direction and execution. The hybrid for example, in the hands of a shitty director could have been something awful but it looks like Colin made it work. It doesn't really stick out as something that doesn't belong in a Jurassic Park movie and that blows my mind, admittedly, just a little bit.
That would be far crazier than a hybrid, though... plus when you step back, the hybrid isn't even that crazy really. They made it just like they made any other dinosaur in the park, only with taking some liberties with the splicing.
They wrote it, Spielberg wasn't happy with it so he gave Trevorrow and Connolly a few more months on it. Jaffa and Silver reportedly wrote it in just a few weeks so I imagine Spielberg felt like it was rushed and not as good as it could be, then he approved Trevorrow and Connolly's revision last fall.
So, it probably would have sucked if they just went with it. I thought Dawn was pretty good but I thought the first one was fucking awful. I don't see what everyone else sees in it. The story and characters were terrible to me. Jaffa and Silver haven't quite hit my seal of approval just yet, but they're no Orci and Kurtzman either.
Personally, I feel like a crisis may have been averted.
The Island of Dr. MalcolmThis art is cool, but it is NOT Jurassic Park:
I would take it as a toy/comic/cartoon/game spinoff though.

Make another franchise on this premise. I am happy as fuck that they didnt took this concept for JP4.Yeah, that is just awful. I don't think they could make a sequel about weaponized dinosaurs that wouldn't lose me. The kid in me thinks the idea is fun, but it wouldn't feel like Jurassic Park.
I don't mean this as weaponized dinos. I'm just talking about releasing dinos in a rival corporate building and the humans surviving Die Hard style.Yeah, that is just awful. Sounds like a Resident Evil/Dino Crisis CrossoverI don't mean this as weaponized dinos. I'm just talking about releasing dinos in a rival corporate building and the humans surviving Die Hard style.
He forgot Jurassic Assemble! and Cretaceous War.
Weaponized dinos would be one of the stupidiest things they could possibly do.
Universal, Producer Frank Marshall, Producer Steven Spielberg, Director Colin Trevorrow and Pyrotechnics Film Expert Michael Bay and M. Night Shyamalan gearing up for The Jurassic Cinematic Universe
I really wonder where they'll take the sequels.
Play Jurassic: The Hunted. I actually want that expanded and adapted in movie form.http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=165257820#post165257820
A dino project by Bish for those who missed it. Graphic Novel and then hopefully a game.

I've honestly and surprisingly never played those titles. I wanted more freedom in my dino games and they seemed so restricted and relied on survival with limited resources in narrow hallways... But what do I know.Dino Crisis still has time travel with dinosaurs the best way though.
Jurassic The Hunted wasn't bad though. Got all the achievements on it for 360.

They are more linear due to the time they came out and hardware. However DC2 is pure action so if you don't like Survivial Horror I would still give that one a try at least.
Of course. I loved Parasite Eve (skipped the RE series) which had similar "restrictions". I guess I wanted more whimsy and action, less survival and horror. These days I want them all in one. They are more linear due to the time they came out and hardware. Have you played the PS3 remake of Carnivores yet? Hunting sim with dinos. I play it all the time with the JP and TLW osts as a custom soundtrack. For me i've always been in the camp with more a fascination of hunting dinosaurs. The fact they are these fearsome predators is what always interested me most.

- LEGO Jurassic World Theme
Hype mode has just been set back to "We'll see about that." mode after this.Actually here is the timeline:
Early 2012 - Jaffa/Silver are approached by Universal to write JP4, they agree and write it.
2012 - Now with a script Universal starts looking for directors. Colin Trevorrow is on their radar due to Safety Not Guaranteed and the fact that he almost directed Star Wars 7 with Brad Bird.
Mid/Late 2012 - Trevorrow meets with Spielberg and things are looking good. However, after reading the script Colin declines the project - despite it being very solid he said it just wasn't him. He wants to do it, but wants to take his own approach to the story.
Early 2013 - Universal agrees, he begins writing with Derek Connolly (pre-production for art, storyboards etc had been developed since 2012 and the idea is most will still be applicable). At this point, Universal is pushing for a late Spring start date and not budging, so Colin really has to churn out the script fast.
Mid 2013 - The new script is finished, and probably solid, but rushed. Spielberg intervenes and delays the project knowing that the story (and sets/props/etc) can only benefit as it was being rushed majorly.
Colin and Derek then wrote all summer, finished around late September 2013 IIRC. The script was approved and they moved to a more robust and involved pre-production that allowed the huge main street set to be built among other things.
Hmm... I will remember this.Universal, Producer Frank Marshall, Producer Steven Spielberg, Director Colin Trevorrow and Pyrotechnics Film Expert Michael Bay and M. Night Shyamalan gearing up for The Jurassic Cinematic Universe
2017: Jurassic SWAT (dir Michael Bay)
Following the events of 2015's Jurassic World, Jurassic SWAT sees Jurassic World survivor Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), now known as Christ Macklin to preserve his identity from Biosyn militia leader Vic Hoskins (Vincent D'Onofrio), collaborating with the remnants of Masrani Global in partnership with inGen in order to combat Hoskins and Biosyn's deadly new Velociraptor Attack Unit, or VAU for short. However, little does Macklin realize that the VAU is just the beginning...
2018: Jurassic Land (dir Colin Trevorrow)
When Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) awakens from being unconscious following the attack of Jurassic World's hybrid feature Indominus Rex, he must lead the small group of survivors of the Jurassic World incident to safety... which involves a trek to the other side of the island, where lies the remnants of Jurassic Park, and Koepp's Tower, the only still-working communications outlet on Isla Nublar.
2019: Jurassic SWAT 2 (dir Michael Bay)
No synopsis yet as Roberto Orci accidentally deleted the script from his drive. However we do know that Hans Zimmer will be scoring, picking up after Trevor Rabin who scored the original SWAT. We can only hope Zimmer honors Rabin's themes from the original while creating his own unique sounds.
2020: Jurassic Remembrance (dir M. Night Shyamalan)
After reaching Koepp's Tower, Owen Grady (Mel Gibson) develops amnesia as the result of an explosion rigged by Vic Hoskins to trip when someone tries to send a signal. To make matters worse, due to the amnesia Owen forgets that he is on an island full of dinosaurs, and upon seeing a pteranodon fly by, is stricken by awe and is transported back to childhood. That is, until he realizes that the pteranodons don't have feathers, and this prompts him to convince the handful of survivors that finding out why the fuck someone would make a theme park with dinosaurs without feathers... and the answer will devastate.
2021: Jurassic Universe (dir Colin Trevorrow)
In the finale of Universal's Jurassic Cinematic Universe, after learning the shocking truth that dinosaurs are feathers, Chris Willis (Mel Pratt) strikes a deal with the leader of the Featherless Dino Underworld, Demoncarnotaur, to get his motorbike back so that he can lead the remaining survivors of the Jurassic World incident while preparing for a final confrontation with Vic Hoskins (Wilson Fisk) and the VAU.
Yeah I honestly see the sequels getting off the island but not in the San Diego kind of way.

Shame, I did enjoy the first two planet movies. I hope Mr. T knows what he's doing.
If it makes you feel better, they still have script and story credits:
2001, no? My wife and I celebrate 12 years since we started dating today. 3 was out before I met her and I was working on my own JP4 by then.It means nothing, damn it.
NOTHING.
Man, I'm super anxious about this movie. It's the one I'm the most interested in seeing how it's going to be more than anything else this year. It's the only movie I'm going in with some kinda expectations to how it'll turn out. Avengers was fun and that's all I cared for. Mad Max was a pleasant surprise.
But it's been TWELVE YEARS since JPIII. Don't mess this up.
