Just Cause 2 |OT| of No Thread Name Can Do This Game Justice

67 hours in, and I just cracked 50% completion. Screen says 47% complete, but I just unlocked the 50% completion achievement.

There appears to be a large difference between your save file and the screen above. Like, 3 hours of gametime difference. Of course you're at 50% >_>

Now 53% in and I still enjoy it a lot, almost played 50 hours. I think I´m going to hunt down the Platinum for this one, so still 22% to go for the 75%... I'm now clearing map parts one by one, the game world still amazes me and every settlement feels like a new mission, especially with the pipelines/fuel shafts etc.

Well done Avalance! I also loved your first game and knew there was great potential. Thrilled already for JC3 or a new island DLC, bring it on!

I don't know what to say, just the demo of this is insane and great!
I really need to get this now but I'm pretty tapped out on gaming funds.
I've already laughed my ass off so many times.

Edit: seriously, just the mechanics of using the parachute and hook together has kept me entertained for a hour now.

This is one hell of a fun game, and came out of nowhere for me. I always loved Mercenaries 1, so this is perfect. (Mercs 2 was too buggy and just seemed unpolished)

I really think the reviewers under-rated this game... everything about it kicks ass, except for the story. But this is the type of game where it's not about the story.

Graphics and colors and art design are amazing, to go along with the super fun gameplay.

So who has got the Invincible Warrior trophy/achievement?
You have to kill 50 enemies in a row with inventory weapons without losing health.
All I can think of is sniping from a skyscraper but killing 50 guards will not be easy.

I want to platinum this but playing it again on hardcore might be too time consuming, I'm just staying focused on 100%ing everything even though I'm only @ 33% after 33 hours or so. I do fuckin love this game though, I've played it pretty much every night since released. It's just so jammed pack full of fun that I can't play any other game without ejecting it and popping in JC2 after 20 minutes or so. Last night I tried taking the motorboat down the waterfall at the casino but I guess it's not real water so Rico glitched out and went tumbling down the waterfall.

I got it after doing two stronghold takeover missions in a row. I wasn't expecting to get it at all, and I'm pretty sure I got shot a couple of times during the takeovers. :lol

Was a nice surprise though. I expected that one to be very tough.

i'm probably making too much out of it, but it tripped me out when i first noticed the map in the game wasn't flat 2d. gives me a sort of 3d effect scrolling around next to the big mountains.

Yeah, this kind of blew my mind to be honest. It's actually helpful, too, as I was able to determine which mountain was the tallest due to the 3D nature of the map and then get the "Top of the World" Achievement.

Aaaah, finally finished 100%-ing the four Panau City areas. The last two were a PITA, since there are so many things there that the meter read 100% even when I had one piece left. Finding the last stray crate and propaganda trailer was such a relief.

So I'm driving up I-40 today to Nashville, and look over to my right and see a red and white broadcast tower that looked exactly like the ones in the fucking game. Then I looked beside it, and sure enough, there was a fucking generator :lol

My first instinct was to jump out of my sunroof, pop open my parachute, and blow those bastards up with an assault rifle.

OMG I forgot to mention this days ago when I first discovered it...

DID YOU GUYS KNOW....you can steer vehicles when you're stunt jumping on them? Specifically, it only seems to work on land vehicles like cars and trucks. Planes, choppers, and boats don't seem to work, but I was on a car's roof the other day and I was able to turn the car slightly left and right. :D

I tried playing some Battlefield BC2 yesterday, but I didn't do so well because I kept trying to grapple onto things...

Damn it...every game needs a grappling hook and parachute now.

My sister and I have been having the same problem with the same games. :lol
The parachute isn't as necessary as the hook, thought.

On one of the BC2 maps there's some red and white comm tower near one of the spawns, I froze for like 5 seconds confused as to what the fuck was happening before realising what game I was playing and could just move on :lol

I'm FINALLY starting to get bored of the demo :D It's probably time to buy this game... Hopefully, it was just the demo that made me get bored.

haha I just fucking knew it...the platinum trophy is the SAME trophy as all the others. What an unoriginal garbage set of trophies.

Oh well, I'm still going to platinum this game. I'm at 65% right now and 62 hours in.

34 Platinum trophies?

Also, my video is coming along nicely. I suspect it will be done by the end of the week. I just need some more explosions and totally buckwild shit to record.

Finished the story now. Final boss is rubbish
just a bloke with a rocket launcher and a million hit points. The rocket surfing bit was OK though.
JC1's end game was definitely better.
Now to crash more things into other things. :)

Picked this game up over the weekend. So much fun.
The distance at which you can grab on to things with the grappling hook is just awesome.
In such a huge world your never stuck in the middle of nowhere without a "ride". Something Mercs 2 sucked at.
Did one mission where I was climbing up this huge tower. Holy shit I was having an anxiety attack at the sense of height and not wanting to fall.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Oh my gawd this game is SO FREAKING AWESOME !!

Getting kinda sick of the game. It's just too big and repetitive to stay fresh. Will probably trade in as soon as I beat the last few agency missions. Overall, I think I'm at 21% completion with about 24 hours played on Normal difficulty.

i think ive unintentionally set a record for lowest % completion while beating the main story

20% :lol :lol :lol

i hate the factions so much i've only done 7 faction missions in total XFD

Not sure what my percentage is (did some faction missions and a couple main ones) but I can't see myself playing it for much longer.

It's like this huge world full of scenic variety, but everywhere you go boils down to the same thing. Blow up some stuff, hunt around for crates; I feel like that's 90% of my time playing.

You'd think there would be some interesting places and characters all over, but there aren't. Go to the mile high club expecting something special, but it's just another "settlement" to blow a few things up and find a few crates in.

Gunplay isn't satisfying and I don't think the vehicles are even fun to use. The cars and quads from BC2 seem to handle much better than anything in this game.

Game looks killer though.

Pretty much. I've never seen a shallow game with such an illusion of depth.

I showed the demo to a friend. At first, a little confused with controls. Then I showed him the grappling gun and the parachute. He was killing and fying and parachuting and destroying and enjoying the heavy gun and the tank... He asked me to let him play the demo like 6 times more.

For all the lack of variety, I've played this game for about 50 hours now and am having a blast. Nothing wrong with a game that does one thing well and then has you do it again and again in my opinion. Kind of like how the Halo guys say their games boil down to series of "30 seconds of fun."

One thing i've always wanted from open world games, and this would be a good one for it, was essentially what boils down to 'random events'. Just like weird stuff that might happen to literally only a handful of people who ever play the game.

I don't like the idea of static easter eggs. I want a dynamic world, and I want to discover something new years down the road.

Our review at msxbox-world just went live ...

I'm surprised about the overall review scores across the board too. Although to be honest, this appears to be one of those cases that people en masse are saying "screw the reviewers, we know quality when we see it"

Not many people are talking about sound, but I think the cicada background sounds really does well for the atmosphere :)
I really like the different explosion sounds aswell, for example when you blow up electric stuff.
