Unfortunately, you'll have a whole different set of issues. Mainly frame rate, resolution, texture quality, general graphics and over priced games....Get a Nintendo Switch, I've had no sound issues with it.

True story right there!Unfortunately, you'll have a whole different set of issues. Mainly frame rate, resolution, texture quality, general graphics and over priced games....
GPU upgrade should be a full wipe and reinstall of the OS.
Yeah i nearly bought a 5080 coming from a 4070ti, but I'm just gonna wait for the 6000 series I think. I upgraded cpu rrom a 5600x to a 7800x3d and to ddr5 in the summer and that gave me a massive boost in performance.Well now I can run everything at ultra and get sometimes 20 to 30fps more!
I only care about sound in my games.Unfortunately, you'll have a whole different set of issues. Mainly frame rate, resolution, texture quality, general graphics and over priced games....
So you're the one they added that "visual impairment" mode to modern driving games for.I only care about sound in my games.![]()
True. It's weird to me how often I see "you should do a clean Windows install" or "you should format your drive" like an universal solution.Completely unnecessary, especially considering both cards are NVIDIA.
it does a crackling noise in games , I just played Re4 and it was crackling and then I disabled some drivers and it was fine and started another game like space marines and the crackling came back, I looked it up and it seems to be a driver issue, anyone had that issue before and knows how to resolve it?
Are you using HDMI audio as well?I'm having the same issue. I thought it was a shit windows update.
Download latencyMon and take a look.
Proper doing my nut in.
it found problems, it says could be network related and one problem could be related to power management and to disable cpu throttling in control panelI'm having the same issue. I thought it was a shit windows update.

sure for a extra 3 grand , damn rookie lolShould have got a 5090. Rookie error.
not fixed yet!You fix this, OP?
Does the crackling happen when playing YouTube videos?
Does it happen if you boot into Safe Mode?
Does it happen if you plug in earphones (try 3.5mm and USB if possible)
Can you remove some USB devices (play with a wireless controller) to see if there's interference there?
Are you able to try the new GPU in a different machine or re-seat the old GPU to see if the sound issues stop?
Going from medium ray tracing to high. Maybe.Curious how much of an upgrade a 4070ti to a 5080 would be. Maybe 10 or 20 FPS? Or is it much better than that?
nope not yet, messing around with shit, wondering if I should wipe clean windows before switching gpuDid you fix the issue?
I think there's programs like HWiNFO, HWMonitor, or Open Hardware Monitor that'll show power usage. Maybe keep an eye on that whilst: idling, loading a YouTube video, launching a game etc?sure for a extra 3 grand , damn rookie lol
not fixed yet!
yeah it has a slow down too hence why the audio issue, even watching youtube, so Ill try my old card with the new psu and see if its the psu the problem, Im guessing it is ,
Stupid question, but have you tried swapping to new hdmi cable? There are weird compatibility issues with cables sometimes with different cards.nope not yet, messing around with shit, wondering if I should wipe clean windows before switching gpu
ill give it a try now , why not! I know sometimes it can be so damn stupidStupid question, but have you tried swapping to new hdmi cable? There are weird compatibility issues with cables sometimes with different cards.
ok hares a update , I installed the 4070ti and it has 0 audio issues.......so either its 5080 the problem or just a driver issue, I'm guessing
what you guys thinK?
good question! this is a 1000w psu, I don't see why there would be a problem...I had a 750w before with the 4070 and 0 issuesIs your PSU actually supplying enough power to the 5080? Like are you doing some weird daisychaining that is limiting its power?
good question! this is a 1000w psu, I don't see why there would be a problem...I had a 750w before with the 4070 and 0 issues
im using a prebuilt ROG strix MB, PCIE dosnt even show up in the BIOSBoth the 5090 and the 4070ti are plugged into your new PSU using the 12v 6+6 pcie gen5 plug right?
So either your open box PSU that isn't delivering enough power on the 12v lines or you have a faulty new GPU.
Unless you can put your hands on another PSU, I don't know how you're going to test it.
An old one, but have you inspected the edge connector on the GPU? Sometimes they get tarnished (oxidized) making a poor connection requiring a card to either be re-seated and rocked in the (PCIe) slot to shine it like shining an apple, or you can get a fancy piece of rock from someone like RS components, etc - my Dad always has one in his endless electrical and engineering tools- that you can use to shine both sides of the edge connector with to get a clean contact with.ok hares a update , I installed the 4070ti and it has 0 audio issues.......so either its 5080 the problem or just a driver issue, I'm guessing

Not going through this whole thread so I'll start from the beginningnope not yet, messing around with shit, wondering if I should wipe clean windows before switching gpu
tried that it dint work!I had sound issues not entirely different to your own.
Try this:
1. Go to device manager
2. Uninstall your Nvidia high definition audio device (your TV) under 'audio inputs/ outputs'
3. Restart the pc
4. Upon restart windows will automatically reinstall the audio drivers (you won't even notice)
5. Just make sure you are using Nvidia high def audio (right click on sound settings in bottom right of windows)
See if that works. I had sound issues and this always fixed it (although temporarily) and then after a while the sound issues just away permanently.
You can also try and switch from NVidia audio to Realtek and back to NVidia. This also worked, but was less permanent.
yeah through hdmiNot going through this whole thread so I'll start from the beginning
You doing sound through the cards hdmi, display Port?
How is the sound over Bluetooth?
Have you tried a different cable?
Where are you outputting sound from? Tv?monitor?soundbar? Receiver?
hdmi to soundbarAre you going HDMI>>>TV>>>>SOUNDBAR
or HDMI>>>>SOUNDBAR>>>>TV
So you're using the other HDMI port on the back to run directly to the soundbar and the other HDMI port to the tv or monitor? With the 4070ti I get this
hdmi to soundbar
Sound issue usually not related to video card . If it's not a sound driver issue, try a cheap usb speaker if you were connecting AUX. Check if it does the same thing ( or usb headphone )it does a crackling noise in games , I just played Re4 and it was crackling and then I disabled some drivers and it was fine and started another game like space marines and the crackling came back, I looked it up and it seems to be a driver issue, anyone had that issue before and knows how to resolve it?
actually no sorry hdmi to tv and sound is blutooth with tvSo you're using the other HDMI port on the back to run directly to the soundbar and the other HDMI port to the tv or monitor?
will do, thanksSound issue usually not related to video card . If it's not a sound driver issue, try a cheap usb speaker if you were connecting AUX. Check if it does the same thing ( or usb headphone )
Are you sure it's Bluetooth and not something like HDMI Arc, eARC, or optical? A TV going to a soundbar is the worst way you can connect it.actually no sorry hdmi to tv and sound is blutooth with tv
will do, thanks
but it cant be the problem , since I just tried the old gpu my 4070ti and it works fine , the 5080 starts every video with static crackling noises then it becomes good....I tried Re4 earlier and it was fine than I tried another game and it started againAre you sure it's Bluetooth and not something like HDMI Arc, eARC, or optical? A TV going to a soundbar is the worst way you can connect it.
Do you have a DP to HDMI cable or adapter so you can run a second HDMI cable directly to the soundbar and try getting audio that way?
I had the same problem with my cheap speaker before I upgrade to a wireless Logitech one with a subwoofer. So I know the feeling lol. But no I highly highly highly doubt it's the video cardactually no sorry hdmi to tv and sound is blutooth with tv
will do, thanks
You mentioned crackling in other posts, but it's only at the start and then it's fine for the rest of the audio until you change the playback to something else?but it cant be the problem , since I just tried the old gpu my 4070ti and it works fine , the 5080 starts every video with static crackling noises then it becomes good....I tried Re4 earlier and it was fine than I tried another game and it started again
but when I switch to small version of the youtube video to full screen it does the noises again , weird shit really, I tought maybe if I use the 600w Pcie wire instead of the octopus wires would fix the problem , nopeYou mentioned crackling in other posts, but it's only at the start and then it's fine for the rest of the audio until you change the playback to something else?
If so that sounds like an audio syncing issue. Who knows what changed with the audio playback between the two generations. PC directly into the soundcard will let you rule out any possible TV -> soundcard communication. I know you just changed the GPU, but just try it and see what happens.
Only skimmed through the responses, but did you try setting your power management mode on the GPU to "prefer maximum performance", and see if that fixes the issue?but when I switch to small version of the youtube video to full screen it does the noises again , weird shit really, I tought maybe if I use the 600w Pcie wire instead of the octopus wires would fix the problem , nope
where can I find this?Only skimmed through the responses, but did you try setting your power management mode on the GPU to "prefer maximum performance", and see if that fixes the issue?
I would take a wild guess and say HDMI DSC on the new nvidia card is fucking things up. Your HDMI cable is not handling the high data rates well if my theory is correct. Have you tried lowering your resolution and refresh rate to see if the sound problems disappear?but when I switch to small version of the youtube video to full screen it does the noises again , weird shit really, I tought maybe if I use the 600w Pcie wire instead of the octopus wires would fix the problem , nope
There is a 10 month old post on Reddit that describes a similar issue, even upgrading from a 4070 to a 5080, and they fixed it by changing their PCIE from "Auto" to "4.0" in the bios. Another person claimed that updating their bios fixed it. Can't hurt to at least change the setting in the bios, even if you don't want to update it.but when I switch to small version of the youtube video to full screen it does the noises again , weird shit really, I tought maybe if I use the 600w Pcie wire instead of the octopus wires would fix the problem , nope

nvm found it
tried this , went to youtube , starts off great , then I put it to full screen and back to normal and it starts with the shitty ass audio and then it fixes itself
