I bet at least half of the people saying how awesome Space Jam was weren't even alive or old enough to remember when it came out in 96. A case of the internet forming their opinion on a terrible film.

96 was the most eventful

Spacejam
Tupac died
Best NBA draft class

I'm sure more happened.

Haters gonna hate but a I loved Space Jam as a kid. Watched most of it again a few years back and it's still enjoyable.

Who the fuck watches the first Space Jam and says it's a "terrible movie"... It's a fucking basketball movie with cartoons and the greatest basketball player of our time aimed at for kids...

Like what kind of schtickler do you have to be to have such a negative opinion about something that's supposed to be lighthearted and fun and is not even directed at you?

Hoping that this movie will be just as fun and looney tunes zany, and that Lebron is capable of making fun of himself with a decision spoof.

Because something can be lighthearted and fun and also good at the same time.

I believe this will touch the sky. Era of cinematic crossovers + China's rise in both basketball and box office = $$$

KD/Wade/Melo/Curry-Paul/AD

There's your marketable co-stars/Bron banana boat buds. I'd put Blake on there but he's iffy after that dust-up last year.

No reason for this film to exist.

The first Space Jam was terrible. Literally nobody is asking for this. More of Warner Bros. throwing money into a hole I guess.

The original is a piece of shit

You literally can't criticise lighthearted entertainment. You heard it here folks. This changes everything.

As long as there's a scene where Lebron is a kid shooting basketball with R Kelly singing I believe I can fly.

So fucking ready for this. Doesn't matter that it's not Citizen Kane. NBA stars doing dumb shit, sequel to a childhood favorite... I'm down.

Wow, people actually liked Space Jam? I thought the Looney Tunes characters (plus Bill Murray) were wasted on such an uninspired story, especially in comparison with the true classic live action + animation mash-up that was Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Can't wait for next year's breakout summer blockbuster, "'90s Kids Get a Free Blowie With Every Ticket," which isn't really a movie so much as it is a mid-level VP at Warners mouths your genitals for 90 straight minutes while you livetweet the experience.

Why must Lebron try to follow in Jordans footsteps...Leave this movie alone. Make your own damn movie Lebron.

It sounds weird to say what a waste of Justin Lin when the man's only done Fast and Furious movies and soon a Star Trek movie but damn. He's a great PG-13 action director; this seems like a really bad career move for him.

Is this supposed to be a bad thing? This sounds like the best thing

At this point the only thing I remember about the original is the soundtrack, which I listened to nonstop for months on end in my youth.

Oh, and a scene with Daffy breaking and entering a house? Idk.

Should be Curry.

Space Jam is weird. I was obsessed with it (and Jordan) when I got into basketball as a kid, but once I got a little older and tried to watch it I came to the realization that it was an awful movie. Even for a kids movie it's not great I'd say.

I loved the movie as a kid.

I recently bought it on Blu Ray for $5 but it's still wrapped...I don't know if I want to ruin those memories like 20 years later.

They are still talking about doing this? Seems like they've been trying to make this for several years now.

And yeah the first Space Jam isn't good beyond nostalgia. The Looney Tunes characters are rather disposable in the film and mis characterized compared to their original incarnations in the classic cartoons(the idea of Bugs Bunny being so desperate for help is laughable), and while everyone loves Jordan he's just not a good actor. There ain't much there beyond that.

You know what I do have nostalgia for? The PlayStation game. Sure it was just as terrible as the movie, but I loved it. Looney Tunes B Ball on the SNES rocks too.

Hmmmm, do I want 2d Looney Tunes like the original?

Or do I want 3d/CG Looney Tunes because when this trainwreck becomes a giant flop, the execs won't have "See, no one likes 2d anymore!" as a scapegoat?

Choices.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
I always thought they should have made a sequel about Hockey and get Wayne Gretzky to be the star but it would have to come out near the original to be at all relevant.

Could have down a bike racing version and it would have starred Lance Armstrong!

That's not at all what I'm saying so thanks for molding my words into your rhetoric.

It just boggles my mind that people can have such negative opinions about the most irrelevant shit, like they can't just enjoy it for what it is. There's always something wrong with everything.
