Yeah, I was just trying to say its a hideaway, essentially. But I should have just said that, instead of being needlessly esoteric. Apologies.

I'm tired.

Oh haha. I see.

Yeah, i must be tired too, i didn't realize at first what a "tree house" meant. I was imagining a big tree with a house carved inside it, using a tree as a house or something like that for a minute. Then Billiechu posted and i went like: "oh, THAT kind of tree house"

But to be fair, it's 4:30 am here, and 3:30 for you ? So it make sense we are tired!

Well who's fault is it for not living in America?

:p

Tsk tsk.

It's where Donkey Kong stashed his golden bananas.

I'm sure he hides more than bananas in there.

It is, but I feel like I needed to make use of this actual free-time I have. Which is a stupid notion, because I'll probably now oversleep!

Mugi-vision should be a more standard ability in other mangas.

in a different subject, i was very bored at my lunch hour and decided to grab a pen and draw some lines that made no sense. after a bit, i thought "why not try to draw something with an actual shape?" and the first thing that came to mind was this:

draw_ritsu.jpg

the feeling that i got when it came to the eyes was like "screw this. i'll fuck up the eyes so let's just slap some good ol' shades and call it a day" and that's how it was completed.
(i can't even remember the last time i actually drew something that wasn't a track outline or a bad sharingan)

NO. And no to Lucky Star. I watched several eps and they both make K-on look like Evangelion by comparison.

Why not? The Yuri? If so, you sound like me, which is the thing that put me off watching it initially. If you give it a chance, you'll find that its extremely light on that aspect, and even then, it's only ever really used in the aid of the comedy.

I was resistant about even watching K-ON! to begin with, which is reflected in my somewhat flippant reviews of the first couple of episodes. Like most things, if you check your preconceptions in at the door, you'll be surprised what you discover.

All that said, I still think you will like Nichijou.

Lucky Star can be fun, it has a lot of nerd/otaku humor.

Yuru Yuri is not good comedy imo, even though i wish it was.

As for azumanga type stuff:

Hyakko (not to be confused with hyouka) -- This is pretty much k-on without music. 4 girls in highschool lazing around. A bit more comedy a bit less cake.

also:

pani poni dash
minami ke
squid girl

i also think that Yotsubato! is a very good slice of life story but it's not in the same style as the others (but the best of them all quality wise - by far).

I haven't started watching it yet, but what about Hyouka? It looks like K-ON! and I've heard its very slice-of-life-y. Though I haven't heard if it's comedy like at all though.
I know Kyoani is making a new anime for this fall that looks like K-ON! but I don't know what it's about really, but I think that's more of a romcom than K-ON like. Chunibyo I think it's called.

You're right, very light on the comedy, and its dialogue heavy. Visually its extremely pretty, and they do some creative things stylistically too.

I'd class it more as a mystery than anything.

I've enjoyed what I've saw of Hyouka so far, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a try if you have time. It certainly is light on comedy, but it's a good mystery/slice of life show.
And as mentioned above, it's very pretty.

That's what I figured reading peoples impressions of Hyouka.
As far as Nichijou, I found it to be a lot like Azumanga, but a lot more scatterbrained and just plain weird. The jokes can be rather hit or miss, but it has some really good gems amongst the filth.
Squid girl is probably a good choice too.
Never heard of Hyakko, might have to check that out.

Hyakko is only 13 Episodes and one of the better slice of life comedies imo. Not a big time investment.

So I finished watching Toaru Kagaku no Railgun (A Certain Sceintific Railgun) and enjoyed it alot, thanks for suggesting to to me (will post a review of the series on the AnimeGAF thread)!

But now I'm interested in it's parent series Toaru Majutsu no Index (A Certain Magical Index) so I think I'll give it a shot.

And on a K-On! related note, I've been listening to songs off the CDs and somehow I'm addicted to Ritsu's singing voice...

I knew you would like Railgun! You might like Index too, it has two anime seasons right now, and it's okay, but i didn't really like some of the characters in Index, and the plot is pretty meh/generic and tries to take itself a bit too seriously at times. I liked Railgun better because it was basically cute girls doing cute things without it being too serious ( Like K-On! ) .

Railgun is just a perfect spin off.

I thought you were being negative about Persona, no?

I can't have that!

Seriously though, if you're just referring to the gulf between release dates in Europe and NA, I can relate.

I just replied to someone who posted the sales number from August NPD. That's not really "ragging". Fuck them for making it the first and only ( so far ) region locked game on the PS3. That's just a dick move that i can't forgive.

Ah, thought as much. Yeah, I'm still fairly bitter about that, I might not even bother to play it at this point. I can't imagine just how far behind the curve we will be, come the release date.

*sigh*

Shots fired. I find that to be something of a generalization, to say the least, but I'd be curious to hear you elaborate on that.

Isn't it rather self-evident? Yuri-yuri (the title gives it away) consists of lesbian elementary schoolers getting off with each other. Lucky Star decides to use the character style associated with elementary schoolers (although they're 17 so that makes it all ok and above board!). One of the girl's dads (naturally the most effed up one) spends all his time spying on little girls and even played hentai games around her when she was growing up. Lucky Star feels as if it was designed by committee, making sure to tick all the boxes for creepy schoolgirl perving.

Anyway I decided to watch minami-ke. Some good original animation seqences. I AM BOSS.

They're not in elementary school.

Except they're drawn, voiced and act as if they are. Same emthod as Lucky Star. Attaching an arbitrary number to their age to make them "legal" is meaningless. And it's still nothing but a porn-fest. The title didn't give it away?

So you haven't watched it.

So you haven't watched it.

So when the little girl climbs naked into the slim barrel full of water and squashes up against the other naked little girl, it wasn't meant to be sexual? Or when she climbed out and bent over so the other girl could look straight up her asshole, and a 3rd little girl watching this got a nosebleed from being so horny that wasn't sexual either. Or when another girl got "hyper" from eating sweets and went on a snogging spree and all the girls started making out, that's just regular anime stuff?

Dude, it's ok to like anime but there's no need for far flat-out denying that some animes are expressly targeted at the pedo demographic. Next you'll be making icecream threads. I mean the only counter you could come up with was that they weren't technically elementary schoolers.

Once again, it's called Yuri-Yuri. What did you think it was meant to be about?
