K-Pop Fanboy/Fangirl |OT5| Controversies Over Nothing

I'm looking forward to this one sided massacre. Wonder Girls tried this back in the days when The Boys came out, they were severly crushed.
I guess YG wants to experiment the same thing.. it should be fun to watch though.

I think both will do great. It obviously depends if both songs are good. Maybe I'm wrong but I think I can see 2NE1 selling more digitally and Girls Generation selling more physical albums. In the end everyone will be happy.
Stellar are actually doing well on the charts this time around, sex obviously sells. ;)

They're getting so much hate but the MV has 900,000 views and counting. I suspect netizens are furiously typing complaints with one hand and furiously masturbating with the other.
I may be wrong but I think catmincer was sarcastic.
I don't think this was posted here but have you seen what they used to promote the group?

I have nothing against Stellar but that seems way too much imo. One thing that I don't understand is why people (not only you) divide netizens from other normal internet users with an account on some site. Everyone can create a naver account and comment on the news and in some of the news posted the netizens reactions comes from users of Facebook or Twitter.

was just about to post this....

WHAT THE FUCK SM

May I remind you:

If this was a game of Chess, SM just called checkmate. Call it a conspiracy theory or whatever, but this is purely a political move. Now this "girl group war" won't happen and 2NE1 gets sent back to their alien planet while Soshi revels in success.

tl;dr: Lee Soo-man ain't taking YG's shit lol.

Exactly. The war itself it´s more useful to YG than SM, this is a way to say go home with your crap. LOL.

There's an FPS in korea that was either larger than, or just behind, LoL in terms of gross revenue / profits.

I believe it's a CS Rip off.

That seems to be who gets all of hte kpop girls to model for them.

Crossfire has used Miss A and 2PM as CF models and in-game models (well, Miss A in-game at least), but Sudden Attack uses more idols for models and voiceovers (T-ara, Big Bang, IU/Gain, Girl's Day, Crayon Pop, Secret, etc). I believe Crossfire may be the biggest worldwide, but Sudden Attack is the biggest in South Korea?

Valentine's Day. Tried to invite a few chicks out, they kinda said no. Nobody asked me to do anything.

Having chicken and beer by myself. It hurts.

Scared of going to club alone (all the single ladies are probably gonna be there, right?)

It hurts.

Well YG obnoxiously turns music shows into their own personal 3-4 song mini-concerts for major comebacks, so they probably didn't want to try to squeeze in SNSD at the same time.

It does smack of desperation, I can't argue with that. My point was whether we like it or not, the decision to go with this concept is working out pretty well for Stella, in that it has garnered the group far, far more attention than it has ever had before.

One thing that I don't understand is why people (not only you) divide netizens from other normal internet users with an account on some site. Everyone can create a naver account and comment on the news and in some of the news posted the netizens reactions comes from users of Facebook or Twitter.

You're absolutely right of course. The thing is, the only time I've heard the term netizen is in relation to Korea and K-pop, so in some ways, I guess they are sort of separate from other internet users, in my mind anyway. On top of that, the netizens that get mentioned the most tend to be those that write the most stupid and/or inflammatory comments.

Yes, the term netizen technically means anyone on the internet but to me personally, it refers to a sort of amorphous mass of idiots typing ridiculous and often hypocritical shit about K-pop. It's a knowingly inaccurate use of the word but it's also a quick and easy way to label a particular subgroup of people that I enjoy making fun of. :p

Soompi version:
Girls’ Generation’s “Mr.Mr.” Music Video and Comeback Possibly Postponed, SM Gives Statement

A considerable amount of data of the music video for “Mr.Mr.” was corrupted during the editing process. Because of the loss, the music video cannot be released on February 19 as originally planned. Girls’ Generation had already released a short video teaser and six individual teaser images.

A representative of SM Entertainment told Osen News, “Some of the data was damaged. We are in the process of recovering. We are discussing the comeback schedule before we can make a decision.”

The group had originally planned to release the music video on February 19, make their comeback performance on “M!Countdown” the day after, and release the full album on the 24. If it comes to that the group has to re-shoot parts of their music video, the comeback could be delayed up to two weeks.

I look forward to YG announcing their own 'unfortunate' delay.

I couldn't give three wet shits about 2NE1.

That Bebop song is not what I was expecting but I actually really liked it.

Clearly the "lost data" excuse is some hot bullshit. It's all mediaplay. There's no way SM, the biggest record label in South Korea
(right?)
, managed to hold on to the Dancing Queen MV for like 5 years but wouldn't make a backup for the upcoming comeback MV for the country's biggest girl group.

If they go through with this delay, I'd be curious to see how it affects their scheduled music show performances. Hopefully this doesn't mean a shortened promotion period due to the upcoming tour. Urgh that would be disappointing. Or maybe they'll be like "lol nope!" at the last minute and drop it like Beyoncé with no promo.

Anyway, I have been thoroughly devastated by today's round of Mr Mr teaser photos. I love this concept, they look amazing. Especially Queen Hyo

Wasn't being sarcastic at all. Sexy concepts work and this is why they're used. The promos are gross though. I really don't think the MV is that bad, it's nothing smuttier than the Pussycat dolls ever did. Their song actually will chart this week and I don't think any of their older stuff did. Plus their views on Youtube are nearly at 1.5 Million their second most viewed song Study is just over 500K and that was in 8 months. It's pretty clear this has worked for them.

Look at AOA, flop until sexy concept plus Brave Brothers song then they have a hit. Pisses me off because their older stuff was actually way, way better.

Then on the flip side you look at an established group like Secret who go for a sickeningly cute concept and it does worse than any of their songs in years.

I'd be really interested to compare song popularity with the concepts and see if there's a correlation between sexy and success or not. I'm thinking yes though.
