Nice flashback post there, Trix. I actually read through all the previous OT's before I joined GAF. I think I found this place when it was at the beginning of OT4. I was unemployed for a couple of months and just binged on the first 3 until I caught up and then I registered. It was intense but a lot of fun. (R.I.P. Phono, never forgotten.)

Ailee will sing I Will Always Love You on Immortal Song next week. Prepare yourselves. I'm looking forward to that Hotel California cover too, sounds pretty good.

The styling for Catallena is on another level:

Shiiiiit that drummer is amazing. Thanks Loci. Keep me updated.

I dropped water on my MacBook and the whole shit is gone. Sadly I never had a chance to set up a wireless router, so I have no fucking internet at home, except my LTE phone.

Plus, all my workbase is gone too, since without a computer I cannot comfortably download and listen stuff while sleeping, cleaning and other activities; I cannot export my dslr pictures anymore, I cannot watch dramas anymore (the most precious material do learn Korean and relieve stress that I had...). And of course, porn is gone.

When things couldnt get worse...

It's time for another edition of: This Day in K-Pop-GAF History.

Btw Jiyoung wrote a letter to fans.

I went to a festival today and kept half an eye out for someone that's been here barely a day in a city of 8 million. I don't know how you people living in Seoul do it.

Edit:
Akdong Musician performed two of their title tracks on today's episode of Kpop Star 3.

Melted

200%

200% is fun, and I'm really liking Melted.

I mean the joongkookie one.

On hiatus until the 2nd week of May.

I just really don't have the time these days to sit down and get some writing done thanks to school and 2 jobs.

On the bright side, this hiatus will actually let me tie the story in to real life.... coz you know, after the recent developments, it's gonna get crazy lol.

My sister who is deep into TVXQ fandom said something about a rumor another SNSD member is dating a big bang member. Though it seems to be about we got married maybe?

It should be Jessica, but this is all just twitter rumors, so most likely nothing. But just thought I'd mention it, who knows these days!

Yuri and a BB member? I could see that.

they met the YG rap quota
Well they've been doing rap since forever, the style of their songs is virtually unchanged and they've been allowed to continue doing their own writing and creative process (Chanhyuk drew and designed the backdrops for their Kpop Star performance of 200% for example). The amount of creative freedom they've been given is impressive considering. YG definitely needs to be commended for that, it wouldn't have been the same if they had gone to JYP or SM.

In other news Kwon Jin Ah was eliminated from the Kpop Star top 3 last night after performing Primary's LOVE. High scores but the primary viewership and voter base being young girls wouldn't have helped her. The two finalists are the two Korean American guys, Bernard Park and Sam Kim. I'd be surprised if Jin Ah wasn't picked up and signed by Antenna Music though (Maaybe JYP but she had a pretty close working relationship with Yoo Hee Yeol).

Welp, I just finished Emergency Couple. I don't know if anyone else is watching, but here are my spoiler free thoughts.

NOTE: Noob alert. It's my first k-drama, so completely lack of reference with how a normal k-drama is supposed to be or the level of quality. I'm comparing it with american/european series mostly.

First a description of the show
shamelessly copied from wikipedia, with words I haven't seen before in my life, so yay for stealing but also learning something new today.

The romantic comedy/medical drama is about a divorced couple whose tumultuous feelings for each other are rekindled when they become reunited years later as interns at the same hospital.

First: romantic comedy/medical drama. Let's take a look at the intro. How happy and smiley they all look.

Well, THAT'S A LIE. This series is more dramatic than anything else. I think I've seen one of the main characters smile 3/4 times during the whole series. Also, the main characters spend one of the episodes crying non stop. I have no problem with drama, but the series looks like is something completely different. The first couple of episodes and the ones closer to the ending are the worst in this aspect, very sad and dramatic stuff.

Anyway, I think the plot in general is also good. The premise is interesting enough and the character development and interactions make sense most of the times. Towards the end there are a couple of 180º attitude changes, but more or less make sense (maybe they feel a bit rushed). Some dialogues are a bit cheesy, but I've never been into very romantic movies or dramas, so maybe it's just normal things.

The comedy parts are usually over the top and exaggerated to no end, with sound effects and everything. I guess that pretty much in line with your typical k-drama (not sure about the sound effects part).

Also I appreciate that the medical aspect is well constrained. It's also not just a gimmick or background noise, most of the times it initiates some subplot that affects the characters somehow. It doesn't get very technical with the medical terms, and when it does, there is a small acclaration of the concept on the bottom of the screen (not translated in the subs I found).

On the technical side of things, I didn't find any big problems. I could live without flashbacks of some scenes that happened 15 seconds before, but I guess that thanks to that, people with short time memory problems can enjoy the show without problems. The acting I think is quite good, and the problems I found were because sometimes the dialogue was a bit cheesy or dumb, not because of the actors themselves. The ones suffering the most from this are the two mothers with over the top reactions and shouting every damn time (probably this is a thing in korean dramas, but I hate it). Also, I went into this expecting to hate Clara acting completely but I was pleasently surprised, the girl knows her thing.

tl;dr Overall the series is entertaining. Maybe too predictable, but at least it wraps up all the plots and subplots nicely.

Ugh the young korean american guys have consistently been boring crooners across all k-pop audition shows. Too bad k-pop star 3 viewership figures are down throughout the season compared to k-pop star 2 now they switched that one judge.

To be fair that wasn't the best Jinah performance either.

I think it's less about the lack of BoA and more about over saturation of audition programs and viewer fatigue.
