K-Pop Fanboy/Fangirl |OT6| Thank You for Love

I agree that ICC is good as an ambient song. I set it to play while I did other stuff and that well allowed me to ignore the weakness of the verses but the hook was still grabby, offering some jams to an outside task. It'd be great for going here to there or working out or playing games.

RV album review:

ICC - 10/10 Joy is the best and the song is catchy
Automatic - 8/10 it's chill, I like it
Something Kinda Crazy - 7/10 a bit generic but it's pretty good to listen while high
Stupid Cupid - TTS reject. 5/10
Take it Slow - boring but I like it 7/10
Candy - meh 3/10

overall: ok album, but it goes downhill after automatic. Joy is the best member.

Teaser of Cube's new girl group

씨엘씨 (CLC) - Pepe (Teaser)

Expected something better from cube... *shrug*.

Hyosung Day was successful. We were heard by the kpop gods and now Hyosung will be having a comeback next month.

Damn April. Dal Shabet, 9muses and Hyosung, can't get better than that
Yesit can, with a Kara korean comeback, but it's not going to happen.

So sad...

Yoona won't be attending SMTown Taiwan. Next to get kicked, confirmed.

Also Sulli, Lay, and Tao won't be attending.

I wonder if we'll get OT6 before this thread ends.

*Just listened to the Red Velvet mini, I liked Automatic and Candy, even if not that much. Automatic could be much better if it wasn't so monotone, which make the song sound a little repetitive, still a quite good song. I also listened to the Super Junior D&E mini and is (surprisingly?) good imo, Sweater and Jeans and Can you Feel it (even if they are completely different) stand out for me and even the title song, Mother and The Beat Goes On are good.

*
I'm one of the few that liked Be Natural
i dont think theyre actually talkin about cake
"Gimme that, Gimme that Ice Cream" lol

Random note... I was listening to RV's mini during my commute and the moment I made this thought, I just couldn't get it out of my head.

Spoilered for those who don't wanna get spoiled by this somewhat sad fact, let's just say it's another artist... again spoilered since you're probably gonna hate me when you read it lol.

Take It Slow and Candy are almost, nay 90% of it is an emulation of
A-Pinkeu's sound.

I don't get why Fei is now stuck with padding when she is pretty great with her natural almost non-existent ass. That square ass shape that padding gives is awful.

jpop sucks, I wont accept japan for throwing alan dawa dolma out the window.

I miss her :( avex PLS WHY... WHYYY???

also I don't and will never get perfume. Even when I was like Japan >>>> Korea status, they were far from anything I would have listened to.

Takes some sort of courage to admit you're deaf to good music, I guess.

I think it's just their voices, that squeaky, highly modulated sound or whatever they do to it just doesn't appeal to me and never will. Anybody who uses it is an automatic dislike for me.

I'm sorry you can enjoy that, and I refuse to.

I used to love jpop but it got really, REALLY boring to me. Everything started to sound the same. Their popular charts are STILL so stuck in the past and fresh new artists get buried under their weight. All these acts are super popular now and chart highly with every new release, even though they debuted years ago:

Arashi (Debuted in 1999)
EXILE (2001)
Lead (2002)
AKB48 (2005)
Southern All Stars (1978)
Mr.Children (1989)
Kobukuro (1998)
Pornograffiti (1994)
SMAP (1988)
KAT-TUN (2001)
TOKIO (1994)
(actually all Johnny's boybands)

The pop charts in Korea are full of fresher sounds, save for the rare anomaly like Shinhwa.

There are some cool Japanese acts like Perfume, but most of the Japanese music that I like these days (which isn't a whole lot) doesn't really sell there. I'm a big fan of FEMM but they flopped hard. The new CAPSULE album was cool too.

Utada needs to come back and save jpop.

That's rubbish but if you just pay attention to the irrelevant Oricon top 3 then yeah, you'll be left ignorant of what's really happening. J-pop is all about the fresh sounds and new ideas these days.. girl groups with experimental attitudes left and right, singer songwriter pop talents pushing boundaries, no limits to what concept and sound you can go for. It's better than ever.

Not sure where the rubbish is, what I was saying is pretty factual. I don't have time to search every nook and cranny for the awesome underground/indie acts. I still can enjoy new jpop but it's harder and harder to find. I like ESPECIA a lot, for example.

Feel free to recommend stuff here because I don't know how to find the good stuff anymore. At least with kpop I can watch one of the weekly network music shows and find new music that I actually like. Watching TV Asahi's Music Station (probably the most popular music TV show in Japan) would be like torture. Their next episode has garbage like Kobukuro, J SOUL BROTHERS (EXILE offshoot), Kis-My-Ft2 (Johnny's group), Southern All-Stars, and Yuzu (1997 debut).

.

Not talking about underground indie acts. Oricon #1 does not reflect mainstream listening habits, only loyal fan clubs. Even on the Oricon though you can find these fresh sounds. Hello Pro groups sound better than ever, all of them. Like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCQT4STlXz0 And when popular idol groups sound like this, how can you long for the old days? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdKNNXuraPs Especia, yes, but they're one in a million of fresh acts like that, a meeting of scene artists and mainstream, Dempagumi, Team Syachihoko, BiS offsprings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIkd3H4tEf4 , groups outdancing kpoppers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfbQuU7vI4Y , queen Oomori Seiko https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbKu4Xx0_Us

etc

Thanks guys, I'll try to check out your recommendations. I know a little about the Hello Pro groups, but I'm biased toward the old H!P stuff (I was even in a H!P subtitling group back in the day).

I still think the overall skill gulf between Jpop and Kpop is huge though, in both singing and dancing. Maybe that'll change though.

EDIT: I checked out all the links, I liked Tentenko, Oomori Seiko and TEMPURA Z vs Charisma.com. I'd never heard of any of them before, so thanks again :)
