Kadokawa confirms Sony sent an acquisition letter

If/when Sony gets Kadokawa, what do you think they’ll do with the other kawa game studios, especially Acquire and spike chunsoft.. you think they’ll focus on AA games for ps5/pc, or make games mainly for Sonys future handheld(if that rumors true)..or fold them into fromsoftware making them even bigger,,or have them become support studios ?.. what’s your take on the other kadokawa game studios..

Really hard to predict, but I think FromSoftware will roll into PlayStation Studios while the others will end up under Aniplex and SMEJ with Lasengle. Most of these studios are anime adjacent and make more money working on multiplatform projects with low system selling potential.

It's not often you'll see an internal sony studio working on a game published by someone else. So the question becomes will sony publish all of these titles and how many of these titles will they not have access to because they don't have licensing rights?

Perfect example is DBZ Sparking Zero. Sony couldn't have published that title since they don't have the DBZ rights. So does the studio just lose access to funding and how does Sony replace it? By having them work as support studios? Probably not. You could contract them out for support with them under Aniplex just as easily.

Except that Aniplex doesn't really do that, pretty much no different from SIE in this aspect. Yeah, I still believe that Spike Chunsoft will remain separate from both SIE and Aniplex.

They publish games on multiple platforms. They don't have a lot of studios under them, what they would do with these studios is completely up in the air, but I don't think they'll be independent studios nor do I think Kadokawa will operate independently from Sony.

Ultimately we'll see.

(Sorry, I forgot to respond to this, lol) Bolded, exactly what I meant! Those DB Sparking games wouldn't be published by them, but rather by BNE, and I'm not sure if I see Aniplex happy with that when they can use that workforce for something that will ultimately give them most of the money.
