Dubstep has a huge following with the teenagers. It's gotten very popular in the past year.

I think he's somewhat right though. If the song gets huge on the radio, the misinformed general public will credit Ye for bringing dubstep to the masses, not Britney or whoever first brought it into pop.

I guess i'm just getting old then. Nearly everyone I know has never even heard of it. And it's definitely not as big as it is in the UK, which is what i'm basing the use of popular from.

Its just not a mainstream genre yet. It was mostly all the teenagers and such that go to raves, etc but it's gotten more mainstream in the last year though, as overcast said.

It was her first single from her new album. Dubstep drop towards the end. I think she has a few songs with Rusko too, or maybe it didn't make the album, I forget.

Dubstep is huge in the uk, and guess what i'm from them the UK.

No one's going to think that Kanye invented Dubstep, dudes. If they don't already know what Dubstep is, they'll just think that it's a really cool unique sounding beat.

And yeah, people in the US know what Dubstep is. It's gotten really big the past year.

i have always been a fan of filth and always got confused when DMZ fans got pissed off about their scene being killed.. but now i realise it kinda has took the shine off your scene cause people think dubstep is so crazy and new when actually its been around for ages and its so dark and chilled. Im glad i took a step back and decided to find out the roots of what i was listening to. I love DMZ!

I'm a huge fan of dubstep (from the UK here) so I welcome it, as long as it's not the overly hard grimey stuff and more of the chilled musical stuff that the underground in the UK is starting to veer back to, after the commercial boom of the heavier dub.

There's also Mike Posner's new song "Shut Up", which has some parts of dubstep (from a big name I think?). I really like it.
