recorded my parts and added to a soundcloud group: http://soundcloud.com/groups/gaf-is-so-appalled/tracks

click the arrow to download (it's a WAV, so it's like 80MB). So one person can take this and record their verse over it and upload it somewhere for the next person, or you guys can send your acapellas, and I can probably just add it to the audacity project I have saved locally. Get my producer on and shit!

excuse my attempt at a swizz beats voice in the song

How is it messed up? That line is true and it serves that pretentious jackass right. Remember when a rapper got dissed and wouldn't say shit until their album dropped? Now we have shitty rap beefs with rappers posting weekly disses back and forth on mixtapes and youtube. Biggie didn't send any shots to 2pac until Life After Death dropped, that was nearly a year of Pac dissing him. Jay-Z dissed Nas at Summerjam, Nas responded December 4th with Ether. Taylor brung that shit back, she's a real nigga.
:lol Regardless, she played the innocent one for so long, and then flipped her position a year later going back on the "offensive" so to speak, right when his career is getting back in gear. Coincidentally timed no?

And pretentious jackass? Were you at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade?

nvm, i get it. i think.

<edit> the highs on your vocals are really high...i mean damn high. but i guess it doesn't matter cause its not that serious

Just realized how the voice changing in Blame Game actually expresses the wild emotional swings of an outburst, it's pretty cool.

Lowest-pitched, left-channel voice = aggression, actively blaming the chick for everything, just blindly lashing out
Mid-range, right channel voice = kneejerk reaction to the rage, more sympathetic, defending the girl despite being hurt. Kinda Stockholm Syndromey in that regard
Highest-pitched, both-channels voice = kind of a confused mix of the two. Just scared, paranoid, and blaming himself.

It takes an already awesome sonic effect and adds depth to it. There's this emotional turmoil, essentially a wild argument held within his outburst. Really expresses the "Kanye West character" in an exciting new way.

Plus the lines where he's shifting moods within one sentence (or even within one thought) really get hammered home when you identify what the voices are. God this song is awesome.

EDIT: Specifically the "You always said you'd find one of them "I like art" type girls line, that goes through all three. Starts as a paranoid reflection on an oddly specific thing she once said, turns into angry reaction on how she could even say that for just a second before turning into a peaceful backwards-rationalization. I think I have a new favorite line on the album.

I want a separate thread to be made when it's done, so that GAFfers who got referenced can listen to the track and react. The Combine line is just :lol

But really, the So Appalled beat is so god damn sick, but I can't explain why. It just is. It fairs better with actual raps on it though.

Damn, tough question. Definitely not the lyrics, it was just the way it flows, the sound of it all together. Probably the tempo, just the way I find myself bobbing my head back forth while slapping my knees while listening.

Coming from Gorillaz' albums, you should definitely listen to Deltron 3030.

yeah if someone else actually has real music production skills, they're more than welcome to take over the recording/editing duties :lol

I always have to bump up the gain when I record my vocals, so is that what you mean? I don't know how to EQ or any of that shit, so that's what I do just to get by, *shrug*

Does anyone know what kind of machine Kanye is using during the Power section of Runaway? The part where he's just looping Afromerica and the beat and the phoenix is dancing. That thing looks awesome.

Yeah the beat cold but the flows Anemic

Throwback

"Cold" line reminded me of these lines.

He said yeah you know you got extra hoes
And everything you do is extra cold
From the Polo fleece to the Jesus piece
I got family in high places like Jesus' niece

Edit:
Can I please, say my peace
If y'all fresh to death, then I'm deceased

Oh man, one of my favorites.

I listened to this album for the first time today.

Now i'm no fan of Kanye and i can't stand most of R&B, urban, etc music these days (not sure what to call it these days). But a friend of mine told me to give it a try, so i did.

I'm very impressed by this album. Holy shit impressed even.
I must admit i had no idea Kanye west was so talented.... Ofcourse he has some crazy talented people around him, but still.. this album is so well produced.

As someone who is generally pretty cold towards rap, this album is a surprise and a delight.

One thing though: does anyone have a track listing which notes every single guest appearance?

A lot of it has to do ith that fucking SHIT opener (the godzilla king kong shit). Listening to Jay-Z rap post 2004? is like listening to your uncle who tries to keep on current trends rap. It's embarassing as fuck and lame.

Jay's overall body of work is incredible and your 100% correct. He's gotten worse and worse although if you sifted through all his gazillion tracks and took only the bangers he'd have more than any other MC ever IMO. He just can't touch when his shit was raw and street...and he won't ever again.

Jay Z post the Black album is very hit and miss but when he hits he still hits it out of the park.

I just HATE HATE HATE how almost every verse of his now has him elongating certain words and or phrases.

I agree, I really do. Jay nowadays is pretty hit or miss...
