that didn't sound right at all. way too slow for the beat.

Kanye is his own thing and imitation acts don't fare well with respect to him, but I think it's best to look at those who influenced him and those that took his style and diverged from it.

A Tribe Called Quest
Lupe Fiasco
KiD CuDi
Drake

Ok this list better than the list a few posts up lol

double jump

you haven't lived until a random little kid ask you "how do you make love".
If I love Kanye's music, what other artists should I take a look at?

Any oldies I might be missing out?

I'll look into Outkast "Aquemini". All these years and I'm getting into hiphop.

Every Outkast album is great especially ATLiens and Aquemini.

Not really like Kanye, but here are some essentials since you're getting in to Hip Hop:

Liquid Swords by GZA
36 Chambers by Wu-Tang Clan
Supreme Clientele by Ghostface Killah
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx by Raekwon
Reasonable Doubt by Jay Z
The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest
Good Kid MAAD City by Kendrick Lamar
Food and Liquor by Lupe Fiasco
The Infamous by Mobb Deep
Hell Hath No Fury by The Clipse
Illmatic by Nas
Ready to Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde by The Pharcyde
Doe or Die by AZ
Like Water for Chocolate by Common
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill by Lauryn Hill
Mos Def and Talib Kweli are Black Star by Black Star
Below The Heavens by Blu & Exile
Purple Haze by Cam'ron
Black on Both Sides by Mos Def
All Eyez on Me by 2Pac
Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
The War Report by Capone N Noreaga
Summertime '06 by Vince Staples
Boy Meets World by Fashawn

Edit: Operation: Doomsday by MF Doom

If you just want artists that are somewhat similar to 'Ye, then Enzo's list is pretty good.

Madvillainy should be on this list.

For real though, Dre/Snoop and G-Funk is the best gateway Hip Hop. Every "I love all kinds of music except Rap and Country" person I've ever met loves The Next Episode. RIP Nate Dogg

Had a moment walking around the city listening to Real Friends today. Not sure where most of TLOP ranks for me yet but I'm already sliding that one in my personal Kanye top 5.

We Don’t Care
Street Lights
Flashing Lights
Late
Real Friends

Def Jam has got to be heated.

Wonder how Kanye can get away without really releasing his album.
Yeah. This is sort of nuts. The press that would have helped propel sales has died down too.

I still haven't got a refund for my album preorder. When def jam / see tickets sends me an email regarding the cancellation of my preorder then I know it's real.

Chances verse gets me every time, got the whole thing locked down to rap for my wife and in my car :p love how he uses "gosh darn" instead of God damn because of the track, also that riff about the Grammys is awesome.

Re: cudi: his bit on father stretch my hands is his best part on the album, "beautiful mornin...." So good.gif

So is there even a final version of the album at this point? Because if doesn't come by next week, we're just gonna have to assume that Kanye wasn't lying and that TLOP will never go on sale.

This thread dropping to the third page? Damn son. Let's all have a moment of silence.
Nah, just throw that last future album on or TPAB and enjoy some actually good hip hop that doesn't require sexist disses at young pop stars to be brought up in music discussion.

It's probably best not to use Future in this dumb flamebait comment because he has said some pretty sexist/demeaning things about the mother of his own child. Dont let the facts undermine your interjection.

TPAB good. Last future album is meh.

Take that L to the chest.

I actually forgot his last album that just came out, it was pretty mediocre. I was thinking about the album that dropped last year for future. Nonetheless, Kanye doesn't do anything for me anymore, but I'll back out of the thread so fans can enjoy talking about the album.
