Another Pitchfork writer, saying it's amazing

"Before Kanye, the last person to have a six-album run this dazzling was ... Prince?"

"Yeezus isn't formally perfect. But it will take another five to ten years for anyone else to even begin to catch up him after this. Again."

"Another thought: This is Ye's most purposeful, and pointed, use of guests ever."

I agree it's too much cutting but imo dark fantasy was too much bloat. Hopefully on the next album its perfectly balanced.
I think El-P nailed it when he said it only sounds interesting if it doesn't sound familiar. And this is marginally unfamiliar because it's Kanye.

true. you can't ignore the mans talent he takes what isn't necessarily new and adds his own flair to it which makes it sound effectively different/new.

he's saying that the lead up from im in it to botl is godly...look at his next tweet for a reference/clarification. its a bit confusing

Ah. That makes more sense. I'm In It has grown on me, the only two tracks I'm not really feeling are Hold My Liquor (it's alright) and Guilt Trip (meh).

the beat at the end sounds pretty great, i wish it made it onto the track. though then again it doesn't really sound that "kanye" and probably would have been out of place on the album. still would have been awesome though.

too much bloat. this album is quick aggressive and short.

LOL my sister use to have one of those and I could get past her voice recognition by squeezing my nose and making my voice all nasally

oh god Bound..
wtf lmao

"When he first played it for me, it was a more middle of the road R&B song, done in an adult contemporary style. Kanye had the idea of combining that track with a cool sample he had found and liked – I removed all of the R&B elements leaving only a single note baseline in the hook which we processed to have a punk edge in the Suicide tradition."

fucking Rick Rubin, please retire you hag

Hold My Liquor, I Am A God, and Bound 2 are just not growing on me. Black Skinhead and New Slaves are just trying too hard. I don't think they are ever going to click. But On Sight and the second half of the album (6-9) is holding up pretty well. So about half the tracks total. I'll probably turn in later tonight with the album on and see if anything changed between then and now.

I think this is a good opinion for someone who's mixed on the album. no singles, no commercial message aside blk skinhead and new slaves are the most commercially produced songs...I think ye did well to pick them for his "not" promo

You know in direct comparison to the SNL version, I'm actually pretty disappointed with the studio Black Skinhead. It's good in it's own way, and I do like it, but the SNL version is even more intense than I remember it. Along with Kanye being way more intense at all times, the production is better too. There's constant screaming in the background and the drums/bass hit a lot harder. And in the build up there's like this rising high pitch sound. I dunno, it just all works. I think I'll keep that version on my iPod as a bonus track, haha

Your buggin, I have a feeling the album wouldn't be nearly as good or carry the same impact without Rubin. The last thing Yez needed on this was some campy RnB. He would have to rework way to much to make it cohesive.
