Man, playing Rin's route after Emi's is a bit jarring. It's a lot less straightforward and maybe more... philosophical? Finished act 2 and I'm definitely enjoying myself more even though I haven't been blown away or anything. Maybe I can just sympathize with her better than Emi since she's an introvert, but not flat out afraid of people like Hanako. Hisao also seems more sympathetic to me, so I guess I'm just more in tune with this writer.

Still at the point where I would rather be doing something else though. Hope the next acts blow me away.

I started to play through this game, and holy shit, I just lost an hour and a half like it was nothing. This game is seriously good, even though I can't play it on full screen (Lion).

Trying to decide who I will go after after Act I ends, I just finished my second day. I really like Shizune and Hanako. Lily is fine, if I play the game a third time, which I probably will since it's a VN game, I'll follow her path too. Though, I could care less about the pink-hair girl.

Now, to decide between Shizune and Hanako, both seem interesting characters. Hmmmmm.

Also, feminist conspiracy, it all makes sense now.

I find this to be a very powerful, well written and well explained post. I agree with you, man, I really do, but it's not the fact that something like this offends me. It's the fact that Japan is continually allowed to make completely fucked up, whacked out shit like this and sell it as a product.

In terms of sexuality, Japan is easily the most perverse, fucked up nation I have ever been to, and I have loads of native Japanese friends who will flat out agree with this assessment.

This game wasn't made in Japan or by a Japanese development group, not to mention that it is not disability porn. You have shown nothing but complete ignorance with this post so don't be surprised if people rip you apart for it.

Anyway, back on topic, I just finished Lilly's route and I thought it was .... good. It just seemed like your typical love story, but nonetheless, really good.

Oh god my heart hnnnnnng. I feel like such a bastard. No I don't feel better about the end end, the bad part is still heart wrenching.


Shizune's the only one left. I haven't checked two bad ends either, three including Shizune. General spoiler about all the endings
With the way some good endings have such bad parts, I'm afraid to check out the bad endings lol. But I guess writing like that is why I'm enjoying the game so much

Sorry, too many posts in this thread for me to dig to find where someone else likely asked but what do you get for 100% completion? I wasn't smart on my saves and would have to replay at least three times for three bad ends since I'm at 95% currently. I don't really dig the bad endings and they also leave little impact having already seen the good endings for each character so I just sort of shrug my way through them.

Regardless, I'm fairly curious if an image or something unlocks and I'm aware I can skip my way through most of it.

Guys, if you're that curious about the secret image, you could always unpack the game data contained in the data.rpa file. There are tools for that.

The Fate/Stay Night VN is very good; it goes into far more detail than the F/SN anime, plus of course most of the second route and all of the route are not covered by the anime. It does rather fall down a bit on the ero scenes: Nasu can't write porn for shit, so we basically ended up practically rewriting those scenes just to get them up to the level of 3rd rate Penthouse Letters page material. Didn't turn out too badly though and it's definitely better than "LOL CG DRAGONZ omg guys whoops we forgot this was an eroge".

There is actually a translated version of the Fate/Stay Night demo, but it wasn't done by the same group as the full game, so I think compatibility is not as good. I've asked around though and it may be possible to just drop in an additional patch to bring it up to a similar level - I'll let you know what happens on that score.

If you want to understand more about the events of Fate/Stay Night (or even Fate/Zero) I highly recommend getting the VN. Plus it's also pretty much a requirement if you want to watch Carnival Phantasm and get some amusement out of it :)

I think you are over-reacting and not taking in the full context of KS vs. games with tentacle rape and such:

Catcher in the Rye has a sex scene described with consenting teenagers. Is that sick too?

I agree that much of media today is hypersexualized and hyper violent. But KS is rated for 18 and above and has a filter to turn off the erotic scenes. I don't need the scenes. I'll be using the filter. Why don't you try KS with the ero scenes turned off?

I don't know, I'm not sure how much of the adult content the filter turns off, but for some characters (such as Hanako), the scenes actually add to the strength of the fiction.

He probably won't, most likely a hit and run poster who says something strange then runs off never to be seen again, if he was actually serious he should be able to tell just from these replies that he was wrong.

On another note I am still playing Katawa Crash, so addicting.

When I finish emi, mi first one, I will do shizune. She has been the most unlikable character of the group when she appeared in scenes (also a bad character if not fo the special in katawa crash lol) and hering by the majority of people that her route is not really good.

But I would do her route first to take out shitness and finish with a high note with the rest of the characters and see finally what happens to Misha that doesnt have a route in the game, something that maddens me.

but what i want to think is that the the writers didnt know how to write a realistic romantic story with a crazy random character.
Please someone make a good mod adding her route, if its done later as an expansion by the same people that did the game even better :)

i ducked out of the thread for a few days on purpose; i'd wondered if she'd like it myself, and finally won her over it seems. she just finished act 1 and is on emi's route. she.... doesn't love it but doesn't hate it either. she can't stand misha due to being an anime stereotype (wifey doesn't like anime except miyazaki and samurai champloo) and thinks shizune is too bossy. she's meh on lilly, kinda intrigued by rin, and thinks emi is a bit annoying. she can't stand kenji whatsoever. she liked hanako a lot actually, in her own words. we have a cat named midi who is almost exactly like hanako in her nervousness and distance which probably helped.

i haven't really determined if she's going to keep on keepin' on, but if she does, i'll report back dutifully. :D

Rin's the best route of all. It addresses the themes of this VN like no other route does.

EDIT: Shizune's 4th chapter's been better than the others, but it hasn't been good enough to make up for the other two. Now I'm kind curious to see how it ends.

Part of me really wanted a clear cut ending with Shizune, but the way it's really left pending between you and Shizune struck me with an incredibly hollow feeling. I think it's believable and mature, but I'll be damned if I didn't want more :(

Yeah, your pretty much right. I always used to judge VNs because of the adult content, then I saw 999, and I really digged the demo but didn't have a chance to buy it. Then after seeing this thread, I thought I might give playing VNs a try, and sure enough, for my first experience, I loved it. Might have to look for that other thread with the list of translated VNs to give some others a try.

Ive commented the game with some friends (males and females) and they like the idea. They are usually impressed when i tell them is not the usuall japanese hentai visual novel, that is what most of the think at first when you tell the about the game. Some of them want to even try it.

Really the hardest part is simply getting past the preconceived notion of what a VN entails. If you do that then the whole disabled part isn't a big problem.

It's just that when you combine two it gets messy.

I'm finally done with the VN. Shizune's last chapter was by far the best of the route, but it definitely wasn't enough to make up for the other two horrible chapters.

Rin's route was the only one that really hit me hard. I guess it all comes down to which one of the routes you relate to the most. Or maybe it all comes down to the fact

that hers was the only one with really good writing. What matters is that, despite the bad times I had reading the other routes, in the end, I feel like it was all worth it, since I got to read her story. No regrets. I'm glad that I read the whole thing.
