Yeah, the same method is used for the Pokedex 3D codes (reading a 4x4 square). In that case, it was a 4x4 grid of black and white, with a black border surrounding it:I think it means they just broke the pictures down into a 4x4 grid with each square simplified into a single color to make a sort of code. Sounds pretty cool.
