Kid share plays Destiny to stranger...

Man... I could feel the sadness when the kid got back to the game.

It took me way back when my memory card screwed up and I've lost my saves for FFVIII, Wild Arms 2 and Parasite Eve.

Sad history. These guys involved should be punished by having their characters deleted too or even account ban.

Well i guess that teaches the kid an early lesson about trust.
Never trust total strangers.

That said, i do feel bad for the kid.

The aspect that really confuses me and makes me feel old is the fact that an 11- year old (sic) plays a m- rated game,
streams it online for whatever narcissistic reason and even invites absolute strangers to cheat (what?) him through the game.

Wtf

To all fellow guardians,

Please watch out for PSN: kermitTHEfrog

I have a friend on ps4 who has a couple of higher level characters and has been playing since the game came out. He was nice enough to show me a lot of what I now, know how to do in the game as a result. His gf also plays destiny. She has slaved for months since day zero doing the daily grind, day in and day out farmed all the materials to get her warlock to level 30. I haven't even gotten to 30 and I've been playing for months. She also did it the real way not by buying the materials using marks but by farming them spending HOURS...

She was at the tower a few days ago when a fellow level 30 (kermitTHEfrog) sent her a message complimenting her raid gear and mentioned how he had never used the Gjallahorn before. He asked if she wanted to raid with him and his group. After joining the party, he was very sincere and nice complimenting her warlock. She had a lot of my buddy's exotics on her character as well. He asked her is she would be nice enough to SHAREPLAY... She said of course thinking everything would be fine and they would raid together after...

Boy was she wrong....

The most horrifying thing that could ever happen to any fellow guardian was about to happen....

This mother -blam!-er kermitTHEfrog DELETED my friends gf's LEVEL 30 warlock in front of her eyes and she could do nothing about it.
In the time it took for him to log in to shareplay, and go straight to deleting the character she couldn't react fast enough.
.

If hitting home disconnects SharePlay, why didn't kid do it? The characters aren't deleted instantly. You have to hold the button for a few good seconds.

I guess the kid thought it was part of the "glitch"...? I don't feel anything towards the kid loosing his toons, tbh. He shouldn't have been trying to glitch to begin with.

From his and his mother's comments on the vid, he left for a bit and came back when the guy was dismantling his Plan C.

It's really a failure of these new type of services, and should be corrected by devs/sony. Just disable features like character deleting and other account management options while Shareplay is on. Now that it's happened, it's time to address it.

There are entire youtube channels devoted to doing this kind of stuff to kids. It makes me sick to my stomach. Just knowing the kid was going to start crying beforehand made it hard for me to watch any of it. I had to stop it after his characters started getting deleted because he walked away for a second.

It wouldn't even matter if it wasn't a kid. Someone took advantage of an opportunity to hurt another person for what I'm sure isn't a very good reason.

They should just disable the game sharing when in menus... This should help.

A valuable lesson was learned.

Oh man I certainly understand the pain of progress lost. Poor kid made worst by the fact some ass out there thought it was hilarious to do this.

What a hard lesson to learn.

Reminds me of the various ways people would try and trick you into running a program while playing Diablo 2 that would force your character to drop everything it was wearing. I was very young and naive. The kid will be a-ok. It's a learning experience.

Destiny is quite mild actually imo.
kinda what I was thinking, ppl are acting like its GTA or something when in all actuality its a pretty mild scifi shooter. No nudity, swearing or gore. Compared to allot of other AAA games on the market its not too bad for kids. As a kid I know I played way worst games.

Diablo 2 hardcore has the absolute worst members of online gaming. TPPK made public games non-existent.

"Stranger Danger" has never been more correct.
Poor kid, but he should have known someone willing to use your character might be a trap.

Oh please, Destiny is like the equivalent of a PG13 movie in terms of content, streaming to twitch is a fun and cool thing to do regardless of age, and if you read the comments from the video uploader she explains the kid's friend brought them into the group not him, so he thought they were trustworthy. This is a total dick move, I don't care if he was trying to cheat by leveling up quicker when he was already 2/3 of the way there.

Poor kid. Exploiting is so rampant in Destiny that I don't blame him for trying something that he believed to be a "glitch." You shouldn't trust people you don't directly know, but still. I hope he learned his lesson and is still able to have fun playing the game with friends.

His crying reminded me of when I was a bit younger than him and my step brother threw my Game Gear across the room and broke it. Video games, man. :'(

EDIT: Oh, he's 11? Despite this poor decision he does come off as fairly mature and well mannered for his age. His parents should be proud.

Wait... deleted her character faster than she could react? Can't you pause/stop SharePlay with a single press of a button or something? Also why would she even give control of her game over to this guy in this instance? I don't understand.

I was afraid of things like this happening when SharePlay was first announced, but I figured it was super easy to stop.

Would be a nice gesture from Bungie to ban these guys from the game or even Sony to ban their psn accounts altogether.

I don't see why they shouldn't. Also, is there nothing Bungie can do to recover the kid's lost characters? If not, could they possibly give him some cool armor/weapons via the postmaster to help lessen the blow?

What's the best way to make Bungie aware of something like this so they could take appropriate action?

The kid could have stopped it turning off his console by force, right?

Cant watch the video now, but thats such a ridiculous thing to do. Its only a kid, let him have fun his own way as long it is not harming other players. Also, the guy had no lesson to teach against him cheating, that is Bungie's work. And Bungie should ban the guy who did it to the kid.

Kinda feel bad for the kid, but hey, he learned a valuable lesson.

He was away from his console when the guy deletes his characters.. when he comes back he sees the dude deleting some exotic weapons on his last character and shuts the ps4 off... it was too late to save the characters though :/

I'd instantly lose all interest in playing if I somehow had my characters deleted, you could maybe shrug off the 2 lower level characters since the biggest effort is getting to level 20 (which is just boring more than difficult) but his main 31 likely held everything he put effort into acquiring. You can't look too far past the fact he was trying to cheat his way to a higher level but it's a harsh lesson to learn given the amount of time he'll have invested in it. He'll never use share play again that's for sure.

Oh ok, thats sad! :/
Never played the full version of Destiny, but by everything Ive read that may have cost a ton of playing hours.

Why is an 11 years old kid playing Destiny in first place???
Because it's not rated mature
There is honestly nothing 'bad' about the gsme
No cursing
No blood
No sex
Hell, even the online is safe because Bungie wants to protect people from trolls and harraament so default lobby options = fire team chat off

So when you play the crucible (your team death match and domination) you don't hear little Wayne or people calling each other n bombs or f bombs

You just play the game
At times that silence is annoying, your team mates make dumb choices and you opt into chat in hopes someone wants to talk strategy, more often than not, no one follows you in.

But yeah, kid safe

Sure, you have to be a bit of a dick to do something like that, but I don't feel bad for the kid. It's just pixels. Plus, you have to learn some of life's lessons the hard way.

Ok than, i though it was an M title, sorry. Still don't think it's a game for a 11 yr kid, but that ends up being only my opinion.

Why are so many posters saying this when it has no bearing on the other guy being a major asshole? Destiny is pretty tame as far as FPSs go. The enemies are non-human, and there's no blood or gore. The worst thing you'll find in it is online interaction and you must be completely unaware of all the kids that have been playing Call of Duty for a whole generation.

omfg at anyone hating on a kid for glitching a video game. Did this shit with friends when I was a kid too. It was considered cool. But fuck him for getting extra imaginary video game points.

Virtual assault for going into the wrong virtual neighborhood. smh.

Seriously, the fuck is going on here.
