A while back we had a thread about the joys of kidney stones. Rather than resurrect that thread creating confusion, I thought I'd post this here.

It was a trending news story today.

This is for stones too large to piss out though right? Still gonna be a bitch probably.
Sounds like it could ultimately make it more painful for the patient. The article doesn't seem to give any specific detail, but I would assume that by breaking these things up, you then have more than one stone to pass -- now you have many small pieces. Yeesh...

so it sounds like it's a similar method to what they do now, but this can be done in an office and no anesthesia, which is huge...

Sounds amazing.

I had the current shockwave therapy a few times last year. It's pretty painful. Like somebody flicking an elastic band at your kidney a few times every second for 30 minutes. Not fun.

Good thing is that they can use sonic to break the stones. The bad thing is the pain when pissing out kidney stones.

I wouldn't wish it on my enemies, kidney stones are hell. My twin pushed a few out and saved them (I totally understand why people save them).

I have had gall stones that forced my body to continually pump acids, the only thing to ease the pain was morphine, and it worked wonders. Death is waiting for all of us, but only a select few get the opportunity to cross over, and then come back. It's intense, it's intense.

As a kid i remember my dad going through this.
Only time i saw that man complaining about something and it wasn't just complaining...it was nearly in tears sometimes for hours.

I've been afraid of this shit ever since. Hope i never get them and looking at this topic made me go get a glass of water.

My dad use to talk about Lithotripsy in the 80s.

That looks more pleasant than shock wave lithotripsy.

These kidney stone topics need to pop every week as a reminder for me to drink more water. Downed a bottle of water before I typed this out.
