Legal hell because of the Weinstein Company and Miramax's financial woes.

And I guess I am in the minority that finds Vol. 2 to be the superior film. Vol. 1 had all the action, but Vol. 2 was a modern western and had all the character drama that paid off in the end.

Oh, and here is more proof of Vol. 2's superiority over Vol. 1:

This is why they're tied for me.

These are my favorite Tarentino films.

My big problem with it is I like all of the bad guys too much except Hannah's.

I hadn't watched them in so long, and borrowed them on Bluray recently... Best fucking film ever. I wish 'The Whole Bloody Affair' would just get done already.

I'm beginning to think I'm the only person who loved death proof.

Loved both parts when I saw them in theaters, but I've never felt like I wanted to watch them again for some reason. I own both volumes on DVD, never watched them, and if I ever run across it on TV I'll only tune in for a few minutes before changing the channel.

Nope, I enjoyed it. Definitely the better half of Grindhouse.

Of course, this is coming from someone who isn't a huge fan of zombie movies. Or horror films of any kind, really. I tolerate them but I don't love them.

Death Proof was alright.

Though they could have easily cut 45 minutes out of it, and it would have been a better movie. I know scenes where people talk on and on about random shit are sort of Tarantino's trademark, but in his other movies those scenes are actually interesing or funny.

In Death Proof I wanted all the female characters to die in a fire as soon as they opened their mouth. Which made it even worse that Kurt Russel's character loses at the end. I can see where he was going with that (the guy was nothing outside his car, girl-power etc.) but it doesn't change the fact that Kurt Russell is about 800% more likeable than the female characters.

It's always going to be compared now as two parts, but it's one fucking movie.

Jackie Brown > Pulp Fiction > Kill Bill = Inglorious Basterds = Reservoir Dogs

As in, it's hard as fuck to rank his films because they are all so enjoyable.

Bolded is very underrated. I hated it at first, but slowly over the years it has grown to be such a fucking fantastic movie.

And Reservoir Dogs is severely overrated.

I watched them again recently and really enjoyed them. Great films.

People who liked it and especially people who liked the soundtrack, should watch "lady snowblood" if you get the chance. It's an old Japanese film that kill bill was heavily influenced by. Such a good film.

Lady trains with samurai sword and goes on a rampage of revenge to hunt down and kill the people that killed her parents. The ending song of kill bill one is the songs main theme.

It was a major inspiration for Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill films. It borrows plot, characters (specifically the character of O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu), visual motifs and settings. In fact, Kill Bill plays like an extended remake of Lady Snowblood. The scene in which The Bride fights O-Ren Ishii uses a snowy landscape that echoes scenes in Lady Snowblood, and the theme song sung by Meiko Kaji (translated by Tarantino as "The Flower of Carnage") is also used in Kill Bill, Vol. 1

kaboom. Probably my favorite scenes in the entire series were when she finally meets her daughter and has the confrontation of Bill. His comparison of Beatrix Kiddo and Superman was fun to watch.

Yup. Vol. 2 was more of a slow burn as opposed to the flash of part 1. And I love the fact that they spent so much time with Bill. You grew to love the bastard, but you knew he had to die. And he went out like a champ too.

Pacing in a lot of scenes is worse than dragon ball z :lol
I don't really see what you mean. I've always thought the pacing and directing in both Vol 1 and 2 was pretty great. Tarantiono doesn't usually follow the classic 3 part movie pacing but imo that's just a good thing.

Don't get the hate for part 2.
I mean, I get that Part 2 is just a totally different film. But great in its own regard.
It's also got the greatest opening and ending sequence ever.

yup. I loved the second part more than the first. the fight with elle was raw and awesome better than the first movie. I also loved the backstory with B training with the kung-fu master.

I'm glad this thread finally came to its senses in the last couple of posts! I enjoyed Vol. 1 a lot but thought it was pretty thin. Vol. 2 gave me the usual chills I come to expect from Tarantino movies.

I'm almost dead certain the revelation at the end of Vol. 1 was added as a hook to get people interested in Vol. 2, and was not supposed to be revealed until Beatrice walks into Bill's house at the end of Vol. 2. Which would have been a pretty stunning twist late in the story.
