For my rather meh HDTV. (Native res a bit over 720p) 720p looked MUCH better.

Its awesome, I may play the game like this.FFObsessed said:oh shit, gonna try this.

I tried that setting but it was too weird to hold L2 with my middle finger and L1 with my index finger to zoom while in cover. I wish the thumbstick still put me into zoom with that scheme but only while I was in cover.Tr4nce said:This demo is great! I played through the first time with the standard control scheme, but I don't like the controls that way, it reminded me of the standard Resistance control scheme. Then the second playthrough, I changed the settings to:
- Alternate 2
- Zoom hold option on
And bam, the game was suddenly much more satisfying to play. Weird how controls can make a difference huh? Anyway, the game looks and feels great on my full HD TV. The graphics are top notch with very much details to it, and the atmosphere is very awesome. Also, the second time I played through, there was a different conversation when I pulled the guy up onto the lift. Gunplay is nice, but you have to set the controls to the configuration you like. This is a day one purchase for me. Wow, what a great game. Also, I didn't notice that you could help/heal your allies with the '0' button.

I couldn't see the logo during brightness calibration at all, no matter how brigt I set the game or my projector - same as in Dead Space's calibration btw.. Both games play fine and I'm quite happy with my settings in general, so I don't want to change much. But what's up with that?

My mistake if you thought I was referring to the aiming. I'm talking about getting around- jumping over cover, running uphill, etc. It feels very graceful. In R2, L4D, etc, your rhythm is often interrupted by a jarring sudden stop because you've hit a 30-degree slope or a tiny rock. In Killzone 2, I feel like I've got a CG-movie quality mobility.Zeliard said:To be fair to L4D, its gameplay is very reliant on quick movement. You're up against hordes of zombies - Killzone 2's weighty controls wouldn't be very welcome.
I'd stick with the default resolution most of the time, it's the way the devs intended for it to be played. GTA IV on the other hand I forced to 1080p because I personally thought it looked sharper and less blurry. I guess it varies from game to game, but you can't go wrong sticking with the default resolution.CalamityDaunt said:Anyone?
better to keep full rgb off... unless your screen fully supports it..comrade said:ITry this.
Hellraizer said:Ok, first of, graphics, sounds, almost everything about the game is amazing. Don't want to go into detail there, its obvious, where I want to go however is the motherfucking retarded PS3 controller. The button layout is pure shit. Right now, I want to smack the bitch ass motherfucker a couple of times who designed the trigger buttons. Fucking piece of shit, crouching and shooting is no fun when the finger always slips and my wrist hurts after playing. FUUUUUCK, I want to love this game, but if I cant find a good layout (because wahtever layout I pick, fucking L2 is always for crouching) or get kinda used to the fucking L2 trigger...I don't know :/
Playing it COD4 style is also impossible. L1+L2+R1+fhfehucfbu...then I thought "ok, fine, L3 to zoom is fine too" but there is still the shitty shitty SHITTY TRIGGER I have to hold for way too long, and it's not really comfortable. ARGH.

Here I thought I was a bad ass for taking my PSP to work so I could download the KZ2 demo with my pre-order code as soon as it went up so it would be ready when I got home.
Forgot the shit fuck code.

On my TV, theres a game mode, and i usually have it on sports(its for less visual lag) but when i have that on, it gets overly dark. does your tv have a game mode?El-Suave said:This probably has been asked before, but the thread is a bit long, so I'll ask again quickly:

OMG if true , because its from last week and now we have the demo... will easily pass 1.5m preorder here if thats correct, so at least 2.5/3millions preorder with US easy.....
maybe the biggest ps3 game from a sales standpoint? could be
Cataferal said:I'm playing on a 1080P set. Does anyone know how they achieved that 1080P output when forced in the PS3 menu? Considering it doesn't default to this resolution, I'm suspicious that it's not as optimized as 720P, and may be using a lower native resolution.

I feel for the people without RealTriggers. Makes holding crouch really easy on L2. Anyone wondering, definitely get them, easily worth it for 5 dollars.Guts Of Thor said:I can tell this game is going to be a blast. My only gripe is that you can't choose to toggle the crouch but I'll get used to that.

RubxQub said:So am I the only one who thought that this demo wasn't anything spectacular?
I really wanted to like it but the aiming is just so terrible. It felt like there was a half second delay between me hitting the thumbsticks and my guy actually moving the gun. After being a considerably above average FPS player in both Resistance, Halo, CoD4, L4D...etc etc, why am I suddenly bad?
Something about these controls are awful. Even the button layouts are terrible.
Visually amazing, but the controls ruined the game for me.
Wow, I had no idea. So the weapons available are the original gun, the Helghast gun equivalent, the pistol, and the rocket launcher?Core407 said:You have a pistol, hit triangle. It has unlimited ammo too so making a magnum only run through will be a must.
Alternate 2 is the absolute worst setup. You cant zoom down while in cover without breaking your fingers off.h3ro said:Played 25 minutes, paused it for you, GAF. You best appreciate this...
First off, for those with surround systems, full DTS support! I don't have a big time system (home theater in a box Pioneer unit), but the mix is excellent. Music is very orchestral, really sets the mood, from the menu screens on.
Once you configure your options (Alt 2 control scheme with toggle off FTW) your off for the demo. It's made up of the infamous landing sequence that we've all seen a million times on Medium difficulty (only one possible).
The graphics. So yeah, wow. I'm on a Panasonic 700U plasma and it's safe to say that this game will dominate set-up/screenshot threads the way Uncharted and Gears 1 did...
Control has some real weight to it, using Alt 2, feels like Cod4 but just a little slower. Cover mechanic is really intuitive and popping in and out of cover gives the game a real Gears as an FPS vibe. Really fun, no problems with the controls, but I'm not that heavy of an FPS player to begin with so perhaps its easier for me to adjust...
Back to the graphics for a moment. The special effects GG added really give the title the extra leg up from other shooters I've played. Think of the effects we saw in MSG4 in Act I where the dust gathered on screen, then slowly fell to the ground. KZ has that level of effect intricacy. Lens flare, losing focus after a blast nearby, dust from the grey mud around. Great stuff. Animations are really slick, great mo-cap.
Also, crank your Sub up to 11 for this one folks, I can't get over how solid the audio mix is. CoD4 had my favorite FPS mix up to this point, but I think this supplants it. The V/A is ok, nothing to write home about, but I'd say its Gears level of corniness and frat humor. Once again, great orchestral music during gameplay as well. Has a real Star Wars (the original ones, not Hayden-ified SW) feel to it.
One last thing, the load screens are really something. You use sixaxis to move the screen in a 3-D manner. Its a fun little diversion similar to MGS' smoking Snake during Act installations. Looks slick.
There's been a lot of "just another shooter" talk going around, and they're right. This is a shooter right on equal footing with CoD4 and Halo 3 because those are the other FPS' I play. It's the little touches that made those games stand out and this game has those touches in spades.
Just a damn good gaming experience so far. Good times GAF, good times.
Edit to add: Thanks for those shots Kaako, I'm gonna install this demo on my Family room PS3 to see how it looks on my Samsung DLP as well now...![]()
