I have downloaded the demo, but haven't tried it yet. What's the problem? Control scheme?
Rubx, have you downloaded the Halo Wars demo? ;)
Didn't see your post.

I'll check it out now. I'm in a demo mood now that this one shook things up for me so I'm checking out RE5 and Fear2...I'll just queue up HW.

I didn't realize he'd actually recommended that in that post until after I posted. :lol

Edit: And, yeah, no HUD, subtitles, or tips is the way to play.
Holy fuck... you can do that in this game?

*runs back to PS3 to play through it again without HUD stuff*

Just played with no cross hair and it was my easiest playthrough ha!

Was taking down bitched with ma revolver, Clint style.

Shit . . . just think FF, if you ace your no-cross hair skills then you can run around with the scout picking off Vektans without even worrying about being stationary, cloaked or scoped!

You can do it in MP as well, but I imagine that would make spotting scouts and sabs near impossible.

Seriously, this game in HUD-less mode just made me realize just how few games actually don't have the option to do that. It's freaking awesome!

I retire my argument, I really didn't want to muck up this thread with my opinion. Not used to the gaming side and it shows.

My apologies, I just really wanted to like this game and was completely let down.

Dude, just try the demo a time or two more. You get used to it, at least I did. I'm used to playing a lot of COD4, and needless to say this game plays different. But that's a part of why I was looking forward to it. It's not a nimble game by any means, more a heavy and sluggish one as far as controls go, just like the first Killzone.

Although there are some control issues: lack of toggle option for cover/crouch and crappy DS3-sticks.

WTF is up with my UK account I try and log in and it says I have a DNS error. I can log in my US Tag fine! Did they lock out the US???????

They're slow, man. They're slow. It isn't that they suck because they are different, it is that they suck because you can't turn very fast. Although, I personally don't think the controls completely suck, they most certainly are slow as fuck. If you turn up the sensitivity the acceloration makes it very hard to control much of anything.

I agree, it is something to get used to. But, even after I do get used to it it'll still be slow and it'll still take too long to turn around.

Turn up the sensitivity FFS. You set it to max and you turn on a dime.

First impressions: Awesome. And I thought the controls were intuitive.

What time does the US store usually update? Is it 5pm est? Tell me it's 5pm est. It's 5 right? RIHGT?!??

The demo isn't coming to the US PSN store until retail release. If you have a gamestop code, you can download it now. EU PSN store does have it for D/L though.

Damn straight.

Make sure to post your impressions here:
;)

I'm going to play the demo when I'm through with my work.

I really don't think it feels realistic though. Get up off your chair and turn. How long did that take you?

Probably not very long at all. Killzone 2's turning isn't realistic. If you want to play a game with realistic FPS controls play Red Orchestra.

Now try turning with full body armor on and carrying a bunch of weapons. ;) Seriously though, turn of the sensitivity - it improves drastically. I have to play it on max but it's PEEEEEEERRRFECT.

I downloaded the demo through my Euro account that I made in the US just an hour or so ago, so you should be alright.

If there's an issue, I don't think it's coming from Sony's end.

Just finished the demo, and I gotta say, despite being someone who prefers playing shooters on the PC, Killzone 2 is an amazing console shooter.

The pacing feels just right, the minimal HUD really compliments the amazing graphics, and the sounds of firing a gun are incredible, despite using crappy stereo TV speakers.

I didn't think I would ever purchase a shooter for the consoles, but I've got a strong feeling I'll be picking it up after grabbing copies of Dawn of War II and Valkyria Chronicles.

Just played the demo and...wow...

Graphics are awsome.\

Controls take some getting used to but are awsome. (To bad it does'nt save your settings in the demo)

Gameplay is awsome.

The main menu look and music is awsome (Pretty much have been avoiding everything about the game to keep it a suprise)

Soundtrack want!

Demo is awsome.

AWSOME.

I just finished the demo and I love how this game feels. I liked the different force of recoil that you felt from the controller based on what gun you were using. It was incredibly immersive. My only complaint is the voice acting of the ISA, it's even worse than I expected. Rico especially. Oh well, I'll deal with it. Everything else was so fantastic there had to be a blemish somewhere.

Damn those Gioteck Triggers cant come soon enough. Tried the demo again, now with Alternate 2 and COD4 style zoom, I liked it, but it's hard when in cover since I rarely use my middle finger when playing. Maybe it'll get better with the triggers.

Unless you can get 7.1 and 450 Watts of sub bass outta those headphones, I think I'll stick to my current setup. :P

...but yeah. The sound. Punchy, ain't it?

Well certainly, a proper surround setup is much preferable, but with a good pair of headphones on the audio is still incredible. Reminds me of MGS4.

If your play-style is more aggressive run-and-gun, you might need to tone it down a bit, the game simply encourages a more deliberate, calculated approach, while quickly running from cover to cover.
Actually, I take cover, and I stop-n-pop. I'm not a spray-n-pray shooter, nor do I run into the middle of firefights. I also don't usually play without a scope when I play a console FPS. In Resistance 2, I'd say my favorite gun is the Marksman, and I use that rifle for mid to long range and never fire a bullet from that distance with that gun without the scope. But for Killzone 2, the added weightiness over other FPS's serves as a precision enhancement, allowing me to be less reliant on the scope. I don't find myself twitching past the target like I do in other console FPS's.

I also have an aesthetic reason for disliking the scopes- the less there is obstructing my view onscreen, the better I can take all the visuals in. It's the same reason I play with no crosshair hud- I like to see what I'm shooting. Also, shooting from the hip means shooting without assists, and you're a badass if you can do it :D

Well the majority don't have the problem thank goodness.

The worst part is I just got this unit from Sony less than 2 weeks ago.

My first 60GB got the ylod.
Hey, I downloaded the demo and I had no problems here. Sorry to hear about the problems with your PS3. :(

This is easily one of the best shooters I've played, and is certainly the best shooter I've played on a console.

Personally I think the controls are superb and I love the weight. It makes me feel as if I'm holding the assault rifle myself. Obviously it took me a little while to get used to the controls as I've never played it before but in the end, they feel perfect. Feels real smooth and very responsive. (Thankfully I have no problems switching between Resistance 2 and the KZ2 demo!)

The soundtrack is nice too. Everything about the game appears to be nice. Even the menus are. There is a great cinematic feel about Killzone 2 and I love it.

The cover system is also fantastic. I don't think I would've completed the demo without it :P

By yourself, which is the sad part. Wonder how many other great games you'll not let yourself enjoy this year?

I'll just not reply, as I don't want to start this over again. Just let it go. I dislike the game you love.

I only enjoyed a few FPS games in the past, but I like what I play in the demo. The gun and gameplay feel very solid.

My only personal complaint is that this is the first PS3 FPS I've played and I keep accidentally press R3 (aim) button. There is a lot of empty space between my thumb and my index finger when I hold the DS3 controller, so whenever I try to slowly move the reticule, the pressure from the grip goes to the thumb. I never had this trouble with the 360 controller because it has that fat grip to absorb the pressure. I don't think it'll be that big of a problem beating single player, but this may frustrate me in multiplayer.

You can get the same level of positional audio from headphones and Watts have little to nothing to do with quality. If you need 450watts to drive your sub bass I'd say it is an issue of efficiency, not quality---but then again, e-peen can be measured in many different ways. :lol

so after seeing the triggers I was wondering has no one created something to put on the dualshock 3's thumbsticks so there are indentations?? my thumbas always slide off? I mean just like a little extra rubber piece that adds to the surface of the stick so it has an indentation?

You did reply though, didn't you?

Who said I loved it? Obviously you're unwilling to try any control scheme even a bit different than what you're used to. That is the issue, not whether or not I love this game. Keep replying this way, see how long it lasts.

ok played it a couple of times more, and to really fell like in war turn off all the hud / crosshair etc.
its very cool if you run out of ammo all of a sudden... :)
and the sound helps a lot - you hear when you have to reload...

and hitting a target with the magnum from the hip with no crosshair gives the kill something special :)

HAHA:
forget it

The magnum is awesome. I've heard complaints about it being useless in reviews, but that thing puts fools to rest.

Seriously guys just let it go. I went back and forth with him like twice before I stopped. Anything more than that and youre just trying to hard, lol.

Its possible to NOT like this game. The controls arent easily accessible. I went through about 4 playthroughs trying to find the perfect way to implement Alt 2 with having to put both fingers on the left triggers...

which is god awful by the way.

Im fine now but it took some doing. Let.it.gooooooo.

So after Dling for 2 hours, I boot up the demo and its been awhile since a game kinda made me go :O

Right stick for zoom sucks ass though. Im sure i can change it though? so no problems there.

I didn't ever in a million years think that the demo would shut off my ps3.

Bleh, i was downloading for like 2 hours and then when its installing I get an error..

Do i have to download the demo again?
